    Sir, why when I applied Membrane in structure the deflection in slab being so big deflection..

    • @Decodebd
      @Decodebd  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Membrane has no bending stiffness, that's why it bends down/deflects without any resistance. It causes larger deflection of membrane. If you hang a Fabric Cloth/tent with four side supports,then also it tends to go down/deflect even if you don’t apply load.

      @@Decodebd nice explaination..I have any question about deck slab..why deflection deck slab is not smooth like shell thin ? Because in the shell thin we can find the deflection in each mesh..but different with deck slab where meshing slab can’t smooth like thin slab..thank you sir

      Sir
      In Hollow block slab
      You prefer in deflection results shell thin or membrane?

    Hello sir,
    As we are selecting shell thin for slabs and shell thick for footing, kindly also explain how we can proof in practical there is no transverse shear deformation in slabs and is transverse shear deformation in footing???

    Sir if we model slab as a membrain then the self weight of slab is apply as shell load on membrain or only floor finsh load is apply ,self weight is automatically taken or not??

    thank you for the informative videos! when do we use membrane then?

    • @Decodebd
      @Decodebd  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When you want to design beam taking all the moment from slab then you can use membrane. It will require more section size of beam than the beam with shell thin slab.

    Get confused with thick and thin for example the span of col is 6m-10m and the thickness is 600mm so >=10 is it a Mat fdn. So thick or thin?

    Assalamu alaikum sir.
    In my etabs model give error for its
    Offset plane is too distorted for shell.
    Sir please help me and make one video for its types of error in etabs.
