Hi! I am an HR and opinions may differ from practices of one company to another. Still, allow me to share some points that we look for when we interview applicants. Hope this can be helpful to fresh graduates. "Tell me about yourself" Very much used phrase talaga ito, conversation starter kumbaga. It's good for a candidate to share how skillset can be of contribution to a company when they are asked of this question, but A LOT also prefer those who share about their family/personal background, their struggles before achieving their highest educ attainment, their hobbies, interest etc. for we can have a glimpse what kind of personality this specific person has.. not to mention ito kadalasan yung mga sagot na hindi rehearsed.. 😅 Believe me, we know it kapag praktisado at may script ang sagot. Skillset is a big plus, but personality is still the most assessed before anything else lalo na sa mga fresh graduates. Gasgas na pero eto talaga yun. Knowledge and capabilities shall follow. Sometimes HR asks about how you were in school. Member ka ba ng school orgs? (Yes is a plus kasi may experience na to handle tasks and responsibilities which is very usual sa actual work set up) Anong role mo sa thesis mo? Alam mo ba ang konsepto nito? Kung taga luto lang ng pancit canton mahirap yan, kapatid. Lalo na kung competition yung role. Bottomline is, 1/4 ng interview questions, mappractice mo but majority of it ay spontaneous talaga at nagsasanga-sanga lang depende topic, so you can never really come up with an answer na perfectly structured. Just answer lang from the heart at paglaanan din ng oras praktisin ang composure during interview. Nakaka mental block ang sobrang kaba. Good luck, freshies!

There are some kasi that require good command of the english language (e.g when it involves customer/supplier relations), then most likely malaking part ng assessment when you answer in straight English. There are some interviewers naman that are vocal about this requirement. Pero usually kapag nagstart si interviewer na straight English, you'll have to do the same rin. Kapag you ran out of english words/ namental block na tlaga then you can also ask din naman if it's OK for them should you answer in Tagalog or atleast Taglish.
It is acceptable to work in the Philippines while still being with your family. The only hindrance one may encounter is the stringent standards, numerous requirements, but ultimately, the goal is to sell the product. I do not wish to undermine the roles of sales personnel or warehouse assistants/officers. However, I advocate for an increase in the minimum wage to ensure that employees are not compelled to seek opportunities overseas. The scenario where the economy and other companies fail to comply should not be overlooked. Nevertheless, the salary package also relies on the educational background of the applicant. Higher educational qualifications warrant higher wages. I do not mention this to discredit the Philippines or promote living abroad, such as in Norway where I currently reside. I earnestly hope for an increase in the minimum wage, which would be advantageous for our fellow Filipinos.

Dumating yung initial interview, confident ako nung matapos hanggang sa umabot ako ng final interview grabe ayun talaga ang mahirap kasi dalawa na lang kami at isa lang ang makukuha, pero alam kong may chance ako at malaki rin ang chance nung kasabay ko. in the end parehas kaming nakuha haha. time flies, naka isang buwan na rin pala ko dito and so far so good. I think it is better to cut my self introduction short but all related and useful than to make it reach 15 mins full of cyclical and unrelated stories. Pls advise me? its due the next day. You might be hired or rejected. But i suggest that during that span of time, try to apply to other companies 😊 also, u know how u performed during the interview, if u know u did well, there's a great chance that u'd get hired 😊
