  • Pittsburgh has a TON of surprises in store! For example... the USS Requin submarine, now docked in the Ohio river. It's a uniquely immersive experience!
Join me as I board this mechanical marvel... learn how 80 men used their expertise, humor and sheer ingenuity to carve out a rough and adventurous life during USS Requin’s lengthy defense and scientific missions, some of which are still classified to this day! State-of-the-art and battle ready when she set out just days before the end of World War II, Requin holds the distinction of being the Navy’s first Radar Picket submarine.

She's a lot larger than our USS Silversides on lake Michigan... Very nice Tour thanks a bunch, God Bless all who sailed in her.

Very good video log. Well done.
What a well-preserved sub. Hat off to those who maintain her.
We on the USS Torsk salute you.

Thanks for the virtual tour, Chachi! I was dissapoint to see that the sub was closed when I got here due to winter and the Kung Flu, as I had a 30 hour break after my first flight as captain.
    Great steady filming!

For the record, it's Requin, pronounced 'rayquin'. My dad served on her as a radioman during the Korean War.

I apologize for butchering the pronunciation. Huge thanks to your father for his service!!! That's amazing!

I was banned from this sub as a child. we decided to stuff the mannequin in one of the tubes. This is when it was in Tampa and in the 1980's

I'm glad I joined the army not the Navy..... I have claustrophobia just looking at the inside of this ship...😉 And I get the Willies just thinking about how I would get out of there if she wants to flood inside what's at I'd say 100 ft should do it..brrrrr...
