    I am retiring from Olympia WA (and I've lived in Seattle) so your cost of living comparison at 3:37 really made my day. I went to grad school at UMN and my son still lives here. I bought a home in Mac Groveland area. I've been spoiled by the temperate albeit rainy climate, and know that it will take a while to get used to those freezing snowy winters and hot humid summers. But it's worth it to live in beautiful Minnesota, and be closer to friends and family.

    I was born and raised in Minnesota but I have lived in the Tampa Bay area for several years now. The cities and Tampa Bay are very similar in the sense that Tampa/St. Pete are "twin cities" also. The population of the 2 metropolitan is very close. I've always said the Tampa Bay area is like the Twin Cities with palm trees. If you ever venture down this way I would highly recommend visiting this part of Florida. There are a ton of things to see and do! One last thing...are you by chance related to Mark Lynch?

    • @ToTheTwinCities
      @ToTheTwinCities  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t think I’m related to a Mark! And I’ve been to tamp/St. Pete’s! I really liked St. Pete’s!! Makes sense now that you mention them being similar! I did a photo shoot at a farm in Lakeland, I believe, and then spent a couple days in that area! Really a nice area!

    Am thinking of moving in Minneapolis/St. Paul. Relocating for a job in Eagan. What's an affordable place around the twin cities or should I just get a place in Eagan? How far is the commute from Eagan to Minneapolis? I don't have to be IN a neighborhood where all it's happening, i.e., bars, coffee shops, arts scene, etc., but nearby it where I can either hop on the mass transit or take an uber or drive within a few mins. away. Relocating from NYC. Looking for a 2-bedroom or a large 1-bedroom. Thanks.

    • @ToTheTwinCities
      @ToTheTwinCities  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This all very much depends on what you mean by “affordable!” A few great areas to check out that are convenient to the cities and Eagan would be south minneapolis, highland park, Richfield and Bloomington! But got all the arts and coffee shop scene you’ll want to be primarily in Minneapolis, uptown, downtown and northeast are where most of the action happens!

    I've lived in Minneapolis for 25 years. And this area has a lot going for it. The economy is very robust, and there are a lot of job opportunities for people with different educational and employment backgrounds. However, having recently sold my home in Minneapolis, the buyer's market is becoming increasingly challenging. For example, I purchased my home for $206,000 in 2015 and sold it for over $300,000 during the summer of 2020. However, there are certain sections of Minneapolis wherein you can get some really good deals. You just have to pay a little more attention to the market area and pull the trigger more quickly. Oh, and one more thing. The cost of electric and gas is far cheaper in Minneapolis than where I am living now. You stand to benefit from some substantial energy savings in this area of the Country. If you have any additional questions about living here, don't hesitate to reach out to me. Thank you!

    • @ToTheTwinCities
      @ToTheTwinCities  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The buyers market can definitely be a challenge, but I’ve gotten pretty effective at navigating it! Thanks for offering to be a resource! Very true about electric/gas costs here! Where are you living now?

The unemployment rate and job rates and where should I live? How hard will it be if I sell my house her in my state and move over there to buy a house? How I long I have to wait to buy another home? How hard is it to rent an apartment there? I mean I can't be staying with the inlaw for a longtime. I want to be able to find a place to live when I get there. Please, help me...Thank You!

    Your videos seem to focus more on the areas in the Western-half of the Twin Cities. You seem to know very little about anything in places such as Oakdale or Woodbury, and your list of fortune 500 companies should have included such names as Medtronic and US Bank, as well as mentioning the fact that a globally recognized school (University of Minnesota) has its main campus here. I suspect that your content is derived from your own growing up in the western suburbs. Another thing you fail to mention is that there are also very nice areas such as Prior Lake and Shakopee, or Lakeville for instance, which quite honestly, are far nicer to live in that some of the places you mentioned in your videos.
