In a lot of ways, there are two different Minnesotas. You have the southern half with Minneapolis, Rochester and other cities and small towns with is very diverse and interesting, and then you have the north half, where it's basically just emptiness and pine forests.
In addition to the sites that you’ve featured on this video I’d recommend the Weismann Art Museum at the University of Minnesota (architect: Frank Gehry) and the Guthrie Theater. Also, that much maligned industrial riverfront is why there’s a Minneapolis at all!
The industrial riverfront by the stone arch bridge has been kept that way for its historical value. If you can appreciate the history it has its own aesthetic qualities
Great places, but you missed the Como Zoo and Conservatory. Beautiful gardens, great animals and a gorgeous carousel in a wonderful neighborhood! Must see!

Best airport in North America, Mall of America, Minnesota Nice, best park system in the US, short commutes, clean air, clean city, education rivals that of Boston, HIGH levels of diversity, sports teams are great, Twins games are the best stadium experience in North America… Minnesota is the place to be in! Everyone should move here.
The TC has a robust bike trail for travel that will get you pretty much anywhere. Then there is Paisley Park across from the Eckenkar church or the arboretum just a couple of miles away. Of course this not Minneapolis but, it is in the metro area.
just booked my round trip ticket ❤ im so excited just taking a trip up before I make my move to Minnesota to just get the feel before I make the big move I planed in just 3 to 4 months. im sure I will love the city but you can never know so nothing better then just visiting first
I think you'll like it here. If you're going to be here in the next week or so, make sure to go to the MN State Fair. Walking or riding around any of the Chain of Lakes lakes is nice. Also, don't sleep on St. Paul. It's got some really nice stuff downtown and lots of trails along the river, and Como Park is very nice, Zoo, Conservatory, lots of open space, and 2 or 4 person pedal surreys you can rent to ride around Lake Como.

I spent many years there, went to "The U". Unfortunately, all the neighborhoods I lived in are now either boarded up, massively crime ridden, or have blockades in the roads in attempt to deter crime. It makes me sad every day that I muster up the courage to read the news!

We have shots of First Avenue and the Bob Dylan mural in the downtown section, even if we don't mention them by name. Unfortunately, Paisley Park was a bit too far from downtown for us to include it in this video :(.
Would it be better to stay at the Millennium or would a hotel near MOA be okay. I plan on doing the Mall one day but more of the things in the cities the other days.
If hotels near MOA are cheaper and you're OK with taking the light rail to the city, MOA is actually not that far. But if the city is where you're going to spend most of your time, then that's where you should stay. We normally stay in the city.
#1 Eat. We have so many good restaurants, with several James Beard Award winners & lots of ethnicity. #2 Get out of town. There are a ton of interesting day trips, river rafting, eagle watching, & seriously good hiking. Keep your car doors locked at all times. Don't trust strangers,esp some of the 9 year olds. Don't rent a Hundai, Kia or etc. The Skyways used to be vibrant & wonderful . The city used to be clean & friendly.

That's why we didn't include Summer Fest in our video about top things to do in Milwaukee or Jazz Fest or Blues Fest in our video about the top things to do in Chicago. But we're sure some viewers reading this comment will be interested in the Ukrainian festival.
Unfortunatley, Minneapolis has become very dangerous over the last couple of years. Crime has exploded and many of the neighborhoods you mention here are NOT SAFE for tourists. I would recommend staying outside the Minneapolis/St. Paul area if you're in MN. Lots of other things to do and see without the risk.
A decent list but SHAME ON YOU for not putting Paisley Park on the list. Minneapolis is known for Prince- he put the city on the map so to speak. I kept waiting to see that listed among things to do and was disappointed you omitted it. shame. shame. shame.
Sorry. Our videos try to only include activities people can do year-round. We never include festivals, sporting events, concert venues, etc. for which you have to be there at a specific date and time. Besides, we're Bear fans 😅.
I was being a bit sarcastic. I enjoyed the Twin Cities for decades, hearing great music, eating wonderful meals and visiting friends and family without worry. That all changed after the rioting in 2019. Now you see hostility to your presence from certain groups and violent crime has risen dramatically. This saddens me.
Best thing to do is stay out of Minneapolis, on the fear of all the crime. Shootings, car thefts, assaults, and robberies; it’s amazing how often these happen during day time hours. The city is short of 300 police officers, it will be a long time before I visit again.
You can also visit the numerous homeless encampments, where drug addicts loot and burn down law abiding citzens homes . Thamks to the Democrat run government, that voted and actually did defund the police, and now they wonder why no cops want to work there. During the riots, that the city council called "protests" , the so called mayor, ordered the police to abandon one of the precincts, which was soon burnt down by the "peaceful protestors". Yes most definately a wonderful city! I wouldn't live or visit there, if they paid me!

If you want to get a taste of Minnesota then get out of Minneapolis or St Paul. There's nothing remarkable about either. They're like any other metropolitan area. Get in your car and head north to Duluth or Lake Vermilion.
Don't forget to arm yourself from the gangs roaming the downtown area looking for the easy mark. Unless of course you are wealthy enough to hire armed security.

Another attraction in downtown is the Foshay tower. The observation deck is $10 and it has great views of the city.

As a Minneapolitan, I think this video is spot on. One addition I might suggest is George Floyd square, the site of his murder and ground zero of the racial reckoning in 2020.
