Hack for attaching sump guard fixings and sump - cut down hex Allen key so you can fit everything without removing the exhausts. Your supposed to use torque wrench but it’s not essential by just using feel and some Loctite! Easy hack saving loads of hassle!

@ The Silverback Summiteer Thanks for the comment. You might be able to do that. But, even if I cut the hex down it's still a really tight fit and would have scratched the heck out of the exhaust. I almost attempted it a few different ways but just ended up doing it by the instructions. The hex bolts hold the front and rear sections of the frame together so you want to make sure they're snug even if you do use Loctite. I enjoy taking the bike apart and seeing how it's put together. Thanks again for the comment and thanks for watching.

Pardon my ignorance but unless you're doing some off road riding , what is the need for a sump guard ?

@nrich51 That's a good question. The main reason I have the sump guard is because I removed the mud flap from the front fender. With that removed everything shoots right at the oil filter. The sump guard protects it. Also, there is always the chance of debris being in the road you may not be able to avoid. Hopefully not but you never know. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching.

i just bought the same mirrors but the only downfall seems to be that, i see the side of my arms quite a bit on them because the stems are bit shorter than the stock mirrors. How did you find yours? are they good? any tips on getting the best views on them? thanks

Curious about the touring mirrors. I've read comments saying the stock mirrors vibrate a lot making it very hard to see anything in them above 80 kmh. What about the touring mirrors ? Any improvement ?

@Matthew EtMoi Thanks for the comment. Yes that is true about the stock mirrors. The touring mirrors are much more sturdy. I really like them. They seem to be a big improvement over the old ones. The old ones would get moved by the wind a lot. I was always readjusting them. Thanks again for the comment and thanks for watching.

This can be done without removing the exhaust pipes 👍

Does replacing the oil filter require removing the sump guard?

@Dave InWLA Yes, to remove the oil filter or drain the oil the sump guard has to be removed first. It's not that bad. There are 4 Allen wrench screws you have to remove to get the sump guard off. Takes about a minute. I plan on taking the bike down some trails once I get all terrain tires on it. So, I have to have the sump guard just in case. Also, I've had a lot of RE owners recommend I get the sump guard. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching.
