This theme will always make me think of the one and only Tina Lord Roberts, and all the summers home from school patiently sitting through the other soaps (which I liked well enough too) until I got to hear this music and see my girl and what she would be doing that day. RIP, beautiful Andrea Evans. You literally helped put this soap back on the map.
When they brought the "Tour of Llanview" opening back in the late 1990s the backgrounds were all shot in the Main Line/Western Subrubs of Philadelphia, which was more geographically accurate to the location of Llanview in the story. The DK Diner in the late 90s version still operates in West Chester, PA
OMG so many memories , my mother’s fave soap, if only I can turn back time and sit with my mother ,eating a sandwich sipping on tang Ugh bitter sweet moments❤
I always loved how the song was at the "RainBOw's end" part just as it was landing on Bo, they timed that for sure!😂, I was in grade school during this era and watched it everyday with my dad and brother
For sure! life long resident of Harrisburg pa love my city! Very proud a one life to live used our skyline for the opening.. back then one life had 10-15 million people watching every week!!
I visited Harrisburg in 2011, and I will say, visiting was surreal. I saw the diner used for Wanda, the governor's mansion I joked was the Lord mansion... there was that Art Deco house with the circular windows, I believe that was on Front Street? I half expected to run into Dorian or Cord and Tina... I loved it. I don't know what it's like to live there, but I sometimes thought it would be fun to live there for a year.
I just looked it up, because I remembered the Art Deco house to be near Duke's on Front Street, they got rid of the building, over the last two years... @Brian Reardon, did it burn down or something, it looked like a cool looking office space.
I didn't watch "One Life To Live" on a regular basis, but these opening titles are CLASSIC! Plus, I really love both versions of the theme song (instrumental & with Peabo Bryson's vocals)!
It’s interesting to see the subtitle changes over time, like the picture order changing or orientation being flipped from left to right. I noticed too that in the early years the background photos had a lot more movement and the cast pictures were less opaque when superimposed over the background. By the 19th opening the only background that had movement was the one with the dog running toward the house. Even the fountain had stopped moving by that time.
It's also kind of funny how bad some of the pictures are. There was one version with terrible pictures of Clint and Bo. That version only lasted maybe 6-8 weeks and then those pictures were replaced. I have to imagine someone in the studio, maybe the actors themselves, caught a glimpse and raised hell about it!
@@whitbyterry that’s exactly right some were quite flattering and some were quite bad. I’m sure that was quite the time consuming process to redo to get the placement and timing right. Overall my two favorites over the run were the photos of Robin Strasser’s Dorian and Maria Roberts
Yeah, you could also tell that around 1986-1987, the cast photos were kind of a hodgepodge in terms of their quality with some of the more translucent original photos dating back to 1984 and the more opaque images that were added later. Makes it look more "thrown together" in that stretch. Looks like around mid-1988, they got everyone's images updated so that they were all generally the same quality and it at least restored some cohesiveness, if not necessarily as "artfully" as the 1984-1985 openings.
