This was very entertaining and brings back frustrating memories. There is actually another way to do this. After dying like 20 times doing the exact same thing you did here, which was stair hide and move up to the car. I tried a different approach. After the last sequence is initiated and the panzerschreks come out. Go back inside the building you just cleared out (right side building) Go up the ladder and get the Big boy sniper rifle, turn 180 degrees away from the Reichstag. You will see another small ladder at the back of the building. Its a Sniper nest you took out earlier. Climb that second ladder, and turn back towards the Reichstag. Now you can just go to town with that Sniper rifle until youve cleared out most of the waves and your men can move up. You have good cover, clear line of sight, and best of all... No Grenades.

It's actually not as bad as you think. Wait, actually the final part of Burn 'Em Out, Blowtorch and Corkscrew, and the flak guns part of Heart of the Reich are that bad, but they are doable. For the flak guns, you get a checkpoint after destroying the 2nd gun. From there, just speedrun into the building (you'll know it when you see it) until you make it, and from there destroying the other guns is pretty easy. For the stairs part, you don't actually have to push up with Reznov. Just snipe them from the 2nd floor of the building, but make sure you're out of grenade range because they're all Tom Brady. Other helpful tips: On Hard Landing, the end part is on a timer, so you don't actually need to destroy the tanks. In the American missions, use smoke grenades to your advantage. In Eviction, go right and use the tanks for cover when you make it outside, and take the right subway platform. In Blowtorch and Corkscrew, go right. The scary thing is from what I've heard is WaW was scary realistic for how bad some encounters in WWII were. Like getting pinned tactically just meant you'd get burried in nades. We're talking people would get tired of losses and would just resort to commands of throw all explosives to jus force the last squad out of hiding. It got so bad that in some areas they had to make FAKE air tubes for bunkers XD.
Me and my friend died over three hundred times on this mission then we realized that all you had to do on these stairs was pickoff the enemies and once the Allies run up you just have to activate the pillar then run like hell
yeah you can randomly die in this part if you stand near that pile of sandbags as one of the pillars will collapse onto you, the collapsing animation apparently didn't play for some reason tho
All I can say for playing WAW on veteran (I beat it twice solo and once co-op) is find a weapon the enemy commonly carries, take your time, throw the grenades back or crawl as far into the corner while laying down and hope for the best. Moving out of cover an inch too much will most likely result in immediate death.
But also sometimes charging up to force the friendly AI to advance is also paramount to getting closer to the next checkpoint so the entire game is extremely contradictory
*Goes to the pentagon in DC* "All right you guys.....hear me out.... let's make as many grenades as possible...... and chuck em at our enemies in our next war"

I just finished this game on PS3. I feel ya. You just have to wait for Pvt. Chernov to go to the front until you will see a big pillar fall down and then Chernov will be brought down by an enemy with a flamethrower. Basically clear as much enemy until Chernov is in front.

This mission becomes easy after destroying the 88s All you have to do is grab a bolt action and stay afar, clear out the cover for your allies to come. Do this until reznov is at the third and final cover, where reznov dies Then mentally prepare yourself for the first phase of Downfall
This game on veteran just becomes a troll. A Dark Souls difficulty troll. Between the sniper mission and enemies shooting you accurately through tall grass and the grenade spamming.
To me what's more infuriating is watching Reznov/Chernov get absolutely pelted with bullets and grenades only to have them do their silly little animation where they get momentarily knocked on the floor before getting up and shaking it off lol

Modern Warfare Veteran: survivable
World At War Veteran: Hell
World at War has an aggressive policy against camping.
German AI: 💣💣💣💣
Player: 👀
Little known fact about wwii is that the real reason Germany lost the war was because 90% of their budget went towards grenade production
Takeo once said “Your soul will Not survive this”
First time ever I take a quote seriously to heart
I want to see big streamer do a Veteran playthrough on this game.
Me and my friend died over three hundred times on this mission then we realized that all you had to do on these stairs was pickoff the enemies and once the Allies run up you just have to activate the pillar then run like hell
I swear beating this level is probably harder than the actual push to stalingrad was
None of my friends believed me that waw in solo veteran is harder than any call of duty campaigns, they said it was easy in co-op
That thumbnail is so hilarious cause it’s so true!
I’m on the damn level with the spider trap holes. I swear I’m going to kms
One of the most painful gaming experience in my life.
yeah you can randomly die in this part if you stand near that pile of sandbags as one of the pillars will collapse onto you, the collapsing animation apparently didn't play for some reason tho
But also sometimes charging up to force the friendly AI to advance is also paramount to getting closer to the next checkpoint so the entire game is extremely contradictory
the last germans soldiers looking at 345 full box of grenade
*imma ... NEED MORE OF THAT*
*Goes to the pentagon in DC*
"All right you guys.....hear me out.... let's make as many grenades as possible...... and chuck em at our enemies in our next war"
The realism was so good they included PTSD.
If you wonder why you were losing, you. Didn’t. Throw. Enough. Grenades. You should be throwing grenades as I say this!
SALVATION!
Yes sir! Lord Shaxx sir!
Im convinced that real wars are much easier than this
The only hard part is that you cant respawn and even if you can there isn't any checkpoints
i downloaded COD WAW for the nostalgia and tried to do veteran, i always got killed by grenades i bet 99% of my deaths were grenades it was litteraly hell
shoutout to the people who beat veteran waw in 2009
Amazing. Simple incredible all these years later.
Recruit: No text.
Veteran: G or Middle Mouse to throw back.
Excuse me that flamethrower is not a sniper rifle how did he hit him that far
I just finished this game on PS3. I feel ya. You just have to wait for Pvt. Chernov to go to the front until you will see a big pillar fall down and then Chernov will be brought down by an enemy with a flamethrower. Basically clear as much enemy until Chernov is in front.
The grenade spawn is so cold blooded so relentless even grenades come from the area you just cleared
RAIN GRENADE
I completed this game few days ago on veteran and some of these clips give me PTSD.
I swear dude it’s not even the enemies throwing the grenades, it feels like there’s an invisible ghost throwing grenades from impossible angles, and when you check there’s literally noone there
To anyone who says it's veteran and it's supposed to "test your skills" I encourage you to play bo1 veteran first and then come back to this one
bo1 in veteran was really hard i remember and i loved it, really enjoyed it, even though i got angry sometimes Treyarch always will remind you of the Reich mission.
They are similar but if u beat Waw in vet. bo1 is much more enjoyable despite the trolling devs
im more impressed u managed to throw alll those nades back
Whoever got decided it would be a good idea to remove the quick save feature from call of duty games after the first one deserves to spill their coffee on themselves every day RIGHT BEFORE they have to leave for work.
Solarint: Don't kill me!
The Entirety of the Axis army throwing grenades: Sorry, what was that?
This mission becomes easy after destroying the 88s
All you have to do is grab a bolt action and stay afar, clear out the cover for your allies to come. Do this until reznov is at the third and final cover, where reznov dies
Then mentally prepare yourself for the first phase of Downfall
Just beat the campaign on veteran. Grenades killed me way more than anything else lol
This is so funny to rewatch knowing I sat there for 3 days completing this game
This game on veteran just becomes a troll. A Dark Souls difficulty troll. Between the sniper mission and enemies shooting you accurately through tall grass and the grenade spamming.
The grenade spam in my experience is guiding you to where you needed to be
Only after learning that grenade damage doesnt go up stairs did I finally survive the reichstag on veteran
I like how everyone who plays this game on veteran has exactly the same experience
To me what's more infuriating is watching Reznov/Chernov get absolutely pelted with bullets and grenades only to have them do their silly little animation where they get momentarily knocked on the floor before getting up and shaking it off lol
I tried to do same strategy as you on Heart of the Reich. Took 4 hours until I gave in and watched a tutorial for the level. Just sit back and snipe fools for 5 minutes.
Ironically, the strategy worked - once. I died to the pillar [accidentally] -thinking it would give me a cutscene of me being helped up.. I was wrong
Call of Duty: Grenades at War
They literally recreate an air strike with grenades, just to flush you out
