For me it was one of the funnest experiences i've had in gaming. I like grinding to eventually get the win. And eventually i just started laughing at how much i was dying XD.
That is how mortar shells work. There was an American soldier in Italy in WW2 who was low on grenades and resorted to throwing armed mortar shells and received the medal of honor for his actions.
The fucking worst one, in all honesty. I spent 55 minutes try to get past the part where you have to run up the hill with the bunker. You're literally crawling on the ground tossing all of the grenades back, hoping you don't get tripled up on with those.
This Platinum is probably still the one I’m most happy about. A nightmare is a good way of describing it. Some of those grenade spam missions were so sweaty. You need a very good patience to beat this one.
I've completed this game last sunday on veteran. And let me tell you, Blow torch and Corkscrew, and the last mission, were the most painful missions of my playthrough. You got lucky when you got bugged, it is otherwise, worse than all the previous missions you go through.

I agree on Blowtorch and Corkscrew but Downfall wasn’t that bad for me. Unless you got confused and thought Heart of the Reich was the last mission. Though, personally, as someone who just got the platinum today, Heart of the Reich was easier than Blowtorch and Corkscrew.
Yep, even on easier difficulties those missions were a BITCH as a kid, i was amazed he got through them pretty quickly because i definitly had to try hard some of them as a kid
World at war is undoubtedly my favourite call of duty game. Maybe I was just the right age, but it seemed to capture the horrors of the Second World War better than any other game I’ve played. I also cannot believe you got the platinum , absolutely incredible stuff mate!
Oh trust it is the best CoD. They'll never be able to recapture the feel and atmosphere this game had. Even the multiplayer was just better. Cod 6 and up were all dog in comparison

Lol yeah Platinum is frustrating, I remember being in the trenches on the mission "their land, their blood" and OH MY the grenade spams sucked I kept blowing up no matter what. I kept grinding though and got the platinum on WaW. I will never, ever, forget the trenches in that mission lol

Always a good day when Joelemz uploads. I was about 15 when I platinum'd this game (I'm 29 now) and I still wake up in the middle of the night screaming in horror, having a nightmare that I'm surrounded by grenades, but every time I pick one up to throw it away 3 more appear, and this carries on until one finally explodes, thrusting me from my torment. My girlfriend simply can't understand my childhood trauma. Good times. She's half Japanese, so I even sometimes feel I haven't woken up and I'm in a Japanese POW camp once I see her face. It's fine though.

Same. I got it in 2008. I was heavily discouraged by it. Didn’t get another platinum until 2012. Then not another until 2020 lol. Now I have 89. To this day this was the hardest platinum I ever got.

I don't know whats worse. World at War Veteran Campaign or Black Ops 3 Realistic Campaign. Both were the hardest things I have ever done in gaming. World at War and Black Ops 3 are my proudest Platinum trophies. Can't wait to see you try Platinum Black Ops 3. Its gona be a pain.

Despite how ridiculous some of the moments are in Veteran, it does give you a sense of how deadly this war was (or how deadly war in general can be). One wrong move in real life, and you're toast a lot of the time, especially when you're fighting an equally skilled enemy in an extremely hostile urban environment. Makes it understandable why millions died sometimes just trying to take a single city, or why taking a single apartment building could take days.
You really got lucky on that Blowtorch and Corkscrew mission. For me, it was fully functional and it was the actual hardest mission in the game. Heart of the Reich was pretty painful but I had a lot more hiding spots and the checkpoints weren’t nearly as spread out. I completed Blowtorch and Corkscrew in 3 hours while Heart of the Reich took me half that time, which is still a lot but a lot less. Also, that last part on the stairs was actually the easiest one for me. When I got the second to last checkpoint, enemies were only in the destroyed house, so I dodged them on the right side and killed them before more could appear, and then, I climbed the ladder, took care of the German snipers and sniped everyone on the stairs with a PPSH-41 (for which I borrowed ammo to fallen comrades I knifed along the way) and an STG-44 until there were little enemies left and then, I went down and killed the rest till the mission ended. Of course, I don’t want to pretend that it was easy. It was still very hard but I found it manageable… the way I did it of course. I can imagine how painful it would be had I done it on the ground.

Its the only god damned COD too that has a probelm with the grenade spam trash in veteran. I don't know why they thought they needed to have that. Same thing kinda applies to the never ending enemy spawn, it almost comes off like its broken.
Awesome video, Joelemz! The WAW campaign was one of my favourites, but its notoriety is very clearly stemming from its absurd difficulty. Beating this game on veteran is no easy feet, good job! By the way, if this was an attempt to get all achievements on XBox it would have been an even more spectacular mess, as you'd had to get 1st and 10th prestige to get achievements lmfao. I'd figure that since WAW is so dead nowadays, the only way to get it is by first getting a modder to boost you to lvl 65, prestiging once and then asking a modder to boost you to nineth prestige.
That Burn em Out mission was the HARDEST level I've ever played on cod. I'd only died about 10-20 times up to that point. Must have died 100 times in those trenches
The levels of rage I felt during this Veteran difficulty campaign were nuclear! "Downfall" was so bad I actually rage-quit the game for 6 months before coming back and finally finishing it! I completed MW2's Veteran difficulty after this, and I had it done in a week! "Gunslinger" was a FML achievement to get as well! Took me numerous attempts!
I think the most challenging thing about WaW is paying $25 for the dlc on a 15 year old game. I know Activision is greedy but like god damn. Just make it free to preserve it, jeez these online shops are going to shut down this year and it'll be impossible to play OG Der Rise
Having to smoke the tanks before destroying them is honestly peak game design. And the sniper duel where the npc peeks, holds a position where he thinks you are and then dips, kust like you have to do?? These guys were kinda cooking with some of these encounters

I loved this game when it came out. Was the first game I experienced where headshots on enemies seemed ultra real. Being an 80’s baby, the drastic visual enhancements with every new system was so exciting. Remember seeing someone play the PS2 for the first time, an NFL game. The fact that the players eyes moved blew my mind. How far we’ve come…

15:40 this part no bs took me over a year. Well I played and had to quit. Crazy enough a year later I tried again and beat it first try. There is a truck to getting to those check points on this one tho. It was the hardest mission in cod I’ve ever played
I beat the whole campaign on the wii version. I bought this version because it was cheaper and thought it would have the zombies mode (which it didn't). I assumed that I might unlock the zombies mode if I beat the game on veteran. Imagine your cross hair spazzing out during the sniper mission and getting one shot. Great times. I did beat it, but with no reward
I decided to beat the wii version on veteran difficulty and it must’ve taken me months. I truly felt like the best player in the world (on the wii version) after going through that hell.

Heart of the Reich actually gave me ptsd. Fuck that mission. I remember having a checkpoint where I was constantly re spawning in front of 2 grenades. I needed precision movement to get clear and not get shot. It was so frustrating but getting that plat was satisfying.
I have platinumed this literally like a decade ago.. and i still have some funny memories with it, it was not easy but i think MW2 special ops Juggernauts takes the crown
I got stuck on "Relentless" for 2 weeks back when WaW was the latest Call of Duty. It scarred me so much that to this day, I check trophy lists first before attempting platinums because I could never go through another experience like WaW on veteran again 😂
This was my first ever made Platin trophy, 15 YEARS AGO… 😢😂 Thank you for uploading this, 20 min straight smiling cause of the flashback or let’s say, revisiting my trauma 🤣
You had luck on your side, on blowtorch and corkscrew, when you arrive to the section where you assault the second bunker with the tanks, it gives you and option to go left or right, if you go left, the mounted machine guns will not be able to shoot you, but enemies will respawn infinitely and there's an enemy with a Type 99 to your left who is impossible to see and will respawn infinitely even if you do kill him, it's nearly impossible, and if at any point you die before reaching the checkpoint, you restart from the bottom of the hill. The right path suffers from being attacked by the main machine gun, followed by enemies with arisakas that redscreen you, and guys that hide in bushes that kill you in 9-10 frames. Not to mention, around the corner is another machine gun nest that kills you faster than .02 seconds. So yeah, great. Oh, and after you get past that machine gun nest, it makes you fight more enemies before you arrive in the bunker, and one of them is pretty much always going to have a Type 99, and if you die, you restart at the bottom of the hill. It makes one feel like sisyphus. 13:07
Hey Joelemz, I just wanted to say, watching your videos pushed me to 100% games. Currently working on Saints Row 3 Remastered on ps4 and GTA 4 on Steam. Already got the Liberty City Minute with 8 hours to spare, I really only used taxis to travel.
Honestly I get so excited now whenever I see you upload. As a trophy hunter of 13 years myself, I love seeing people share their platinum stories. It was so fun to watch the parts you struggled with in this game because I struggled in the EXACT same spots, lol
When I tried playing WAW on veteran, I made it all the way to the mission where you storm the reichstag. Those 4 anti air guns are still the bane of my existence, around 12 hours I've spent on that level, or around a third of my total time in game Edit: Heart of the Reich
I remember for the motherland on veteran. It was absolutely terrible. I remember clearing each bunker taking my time, then at one point I cleared one building took my time to enter the last before the stairs. I had my back to the wall and enemies respawned in that same building that I was in and “cleared” I nearly snapped my 360 controller. The best way to play that level is to run with smokes and nades. Smoke, nade, run, smoke, nade,run. Once I completed World At War I removed it out of the 360 and never touched it again. No multiplayer, no Zombies. I hated it so much.
This is the first video in times where I actually watched through the ad. That is because the content and dedication of this fella is absolutely insane. I know you’ll make it for sure. On to 1M subs.

I remember how hard and frustrating it was to complete the game on Veteran on PC. I've spent three days gaming to reach the final mission, spent hours trying to advance to the Reichstag, remember every fucking step on that staircase and finally when I was inside, I was just done. I couldn't do it anymore, so I dropped the game minutes from the completion. Do I regret it? Yes, I regret playing that game on Veteran at all!
I am close to 200 "platinums" between Playstation and Steam, and the World at War campaign easily makes it one of my five hardest for sure. This was painful nostalgia but a fun watch!
For new comers, in the airfield part you can go back to the bazooka part and fill up it takes 3 rockets for these tanks so you’ll have to make several trips
Beating this game on veteran was legitimately one of the most frustrating platinum's I've ever done.

COD veteran is you versus an entire army of elite soldiers with zero help. Allies are more of a threat than help.

Also, some mortars can actually be thrown like that if primed properly. Many accounts of it happening in WW2.

Its the only god damned COD too that has a probelm with the grenade spam trash in veteran. I don't know why they thought they needed to have that. Same thing kinda applies to the never ending enemy spawn, it almost comes off like its broken.
Awesome video, Joelemz! The WAW campaign was one of my favourites, but its notoriety is very clearly stemming from its absurd difficulty. Beating this game on veteran is no easy feet, good job!
By the way, if this was an attempt to get all achievements on XBox it would have been an even more spectacular mess, as you'd had to get 1st and 10th prestige to get achievements lmfao. I'd figure that since WAW is so dead nowadays, the only way to get it is by first getting a modder to boost you to lvl 65, prestiging once and then asking a modder to boost you to nineth prestige.

That Burn em Out mission was the HARDEST level I've ever played on cod. I'd only died about 10-20 times up to that point. Must have died 100 times in those trenches
The levels of rage I felt during this Veteran difficulty campaign were nuclear! "Downfall" was so bad I actually rage-quit the game for 6 months before coming back and finally finishing it! I completed MW2's Veteran difficulty after this, and I had it done in a week!
"Gunslinger" was a FML achievement to get as well! Took me numerous attempts!
I think the most challenging thing about WaW is paying $25 for the dlc on a 15 year old game. I know Activision is greedy but like god damn. Just make it free to preserve it, jeez these online shops are going to shut down this year and it'll be impossible to play OG Der Rise

Being an 80’s baby, the drastic visual enhancements with every new system was so exciting. Remember seeing someone play the PS2 for the first time, an NFL game. When you get to MW3 I think you will experience even more rage. There are 2 spec ops missions (which you have to do coop) that are simply insane with arbitrary difficulty throughout.

15:40 this part no bs took me over a year. Well I played and had to quit. Crazy enough a year later I tried again and beat it first try. There is a truck to getting to those check points on this one tho. It was the hardest mission in cod I’ve ever played

I beat the whole campaign on the wii version. I bought this version because it was cheaper and thought it would have the zombies mode (which it didn't). I assumed that I might unlock the zombies mode if I beat the game on veteran. Imagine your cross hair spazzing out during the sniper mission and getting one shot. Great times. I did beat it, but with no reward
I decided to beat the wii version on veteran difficulty and it must’ve taken me months. I truly felt like the best player in the world (on the wii version) after going through that hell.
Fun fact : you can find all black ops 3 zombie characters (dempsey , richtofen , nikolai , takeo) in different missions

Heart of the Reich actually gave me ptsd. Fuck that mission. I remember having a checkpoint where I was constantly re spawning in front of 2 grenades. I needed precision movement to get clear and not get shot. It was so frustrating but getting that plat was satisfying.
I beat this game on veteran and when I got to Heart of the Reich I legitimately began to lose my sense of reality.

I got stuck on "Relentless" for 2 weeks back when WaW was the latest Call of Duty. It scarred me so much that to this day, I check trophy lists first before attempting platinums because I could never go through another experience like WaW on veteran again 😂

WaW Veteran difficulty, giving WW2 PTSD to a whole new generation
You had luck on your side, on blowtorch and corkscrew, when you arrive to the section where you assault the second bunker with the tanks, it gives you and option to go left or right, if you go left, the mounted machine guns will not be able to shoot you, but enemies will respawn infinitely and there's an enemy with a Type 99 to your left who is impossible to see and will respawn infinitely even if you do kill him, it's nearly impossible, and if at any point you die before reaching the checkpoint, you restart from the bottom of the hill. The right path suffers from being attacked by the main machine gun, followed by enemies with arisakas that redscreen you, and guys that hide in bushes that kill you in 9-10 frames. Not to mention, around the corner is another machine gun nest that kills you faster than .02 seconds. So yeah, great. Oh, and after you get past that machine gun nest, it makes you fight more enemies before you arrive in the bunker, and one of them is pretty much always going to have a Type 99, and if you die, you restart at the bottom of the hill. It makes one feel like sisyphus. 13:07

When I tried playing WAW on veteran, I made it all the way to the mission where you storm the reichstag. Those 4 anti air guns are still the bane of my existence, around 12 hours I've spent on that level, or around a third of my total time in game

I remember for the motherland on veteran. It was absolutely terrible. I remember clearing each bunker taking my time, then at one point I cleared one building took my time to enter the last before the stairs. I had my back to the wall and enemies respawned in that same building that I was in and “cleared” I nearly snapped my 360 controller. The best way to play that level is to run with smokes and nades. Smoke, nade, run, smoke, nade,run. Once I completed World At War I removed it out of the 360 and never touched it again. No multiplayer, no Zombies. I hated it so much.
I loved every second of watching this 😂 your humor and the editing is top notch. The music choice and the sound effects are so nostalgic

I remember how hard and frustrating it was to complete the game on Veteran on PC. I've spent three days gaming to reach the final mission, spent hours trying to advance to the Reichstag, remember every fucking step on that staircase and finally when I was inside, I was just done. I couldn't do it anymore, so I dropped the game minutes from the completion. Do I regret it? Yes, I regret playing that game on Veteran at all!

I am close to 200 "platinums" between Playstation and Steam, and the World at War campaign easily makes it one of my five hardest for sure. This was painful nostalgia but a fun watch!
For new comers, in the airfield part you can go back to the bazooka part and fill up it takes 3 rockets for these tanks so you’ll have to make several trips
