I have a 1984 Suzuki GSX750EF and have watched all of your restoration videos. Just wanted to say thanks, your videos are very informative, practical and entertaining (They have become pretty much my training and information videos). Also, if there is a way to contact you with questions regarding my ongoing restoration(?) Am, of course happy to pay you for your time/advice/direction. I'm very much a 'Ham and Egger' when it comes to Bike restoration and mechanics with limited experience. Thanks in advance. 👍

Hi George, glad you like the channel. I use TH-cam all the time to find out how to do things so it's nice to give back. If you can send me an email somehow I'm happy to help and payment wont be necessary. Cheers, Phil.

Hey... I'm not sure about oilers. My mate put one on... actually, not my mate, my mate's cousin.. or something. And he says they're dangerous. His burnouts tend to catch fire and when he climbs off the bike, one foot is so slippery, he often falls on his face.. or that could be too much beer. I do remember hearing about one time, years ago, when he left a slick of oil all the way down the corridor and a cleaner fell on his arse (the cleaner fell on his own arse, not my mate's cousin's arse, I mean)!

You could be right Bernie. I heard that Ferrari put one on the back of Nicki Laudas F1 car at the nordschleife back in 1976 and look what happened there 🔥 😱

The cap is a breather and replaces the old tube design. It is a much better design and a positive improvement

@05:44 Hi, thank you for another very well explained video. My Scottoiler arrived today and I will install it on my GSX-S 1000 in the next few days. What exactly did you mean by standard engine oil is good enough? Have you already tried it?
    Greetings from Germany

Hi Ferry. The Scottoiler comes with oil which you can re order when you run out but Scottoiler themselves say that you can use engine oil instead when you run out. Thanks for watching.

Personally, I can't see the utility of an auto oiler. Even with no center stand, it's easy to pop the bike up on my Pit Bull, give the chain a good cleaning, check for slack, and apply lubricant. It's part of owning a bike, it's relaxing and I get the satisfaction of routine maintenance done well. 10K miles, I love the bike, but I'm SO tempted to trade it in for the 2024 red.

Up to you of course. I like them, especially on a long multi day touring ride knowing the chain is being lubricated as i ride. I find I get exceptional life out of my chains and sprockets. Some people like 'em, some people hate 'em. I get it.

I've never put an oiler on any of my bikes. Just seems like a mess to me. I'd have oil all over my garage floor, the tires, my shoes and my clothes.
Maybe if i did thousands of miles a week I'd consider it worth the hassle.
Do you still have to clean the chain regardless of having an oiler? I would think so, but perhaps not as often.

If adjusted properly the oiler dispenses 1 drop (0.05mL) of oil every 60 seconds only while the bike is running. So a cup of oil (250mL) would take 5000 minutes or 83 hours of riding. I have used oilers for years and am very happy with them and have never had an issue (apart from my chains and sprockets lasting much longer!) . Basically set and forget unless you run out of oil. You get a small amount of oil on the back wheel but if you are lubricating your chain correctly you will get that anyway, also cleaning oil off the wheel is much easier than chain lube. You still need to adjust the chain, but since it is being lubricated the chain and sprocket wear is much less. Up to you. Its not mandatory.
