How do’s, UK GT rider here. I find the GT seat quite comfortable, although I’m not quite lucky enough to compare it to a classic Katana. I agree about the handlebars, they cause me wrist ache so I’d definitely want to change them out - will watch your handlebar conversion next 👍
My change was not so much for comfort but more to sit “in” the bike rather than “on”. Almost finished a few thousand k ride to Phillip island and back and very happy with the changes. Especially the bars, much better.
Nice work Mr Plax. Did you consider using the high temerature "live" arse-moulding technique? Yes, true, it can be dangerous and there is a high risk of permanent scarring but on the plus side you get a perfect fit every time.
Ive leveled out my passenger seat and curious to do this as well to my seat you may have seen my post on their but both seats push you forward on this bike and makes it a little u comfortable i find myself moving back a lot off the tank
As well as reshaping the seat I wanted to not add any height to the seat (in fact lower it a bit) I guess you could experiment with removing more foam and adding a gel insert but if you weren’t happy with the results then it’s harder to come back from.
Excellent idea
Cheers. Very happy with the results on my 1250FA so let’s see how it goes on the GT down to Phillip Island and back. Thanks for watching!

Fascinating video. You’re a way braver man than me😂. I’ve always purchased aftermarket seats. 👍
US$500 Sargent seat or an AUS$20 electric knife from K-Mart that I can use for the Xmas ham?…….. no brainer.

Surely the "shape" changes as you get older?

My mod sits you up against the seat but you can shape it however you like. Worth a try.
Did you think of installing a jel pad into the foam? What are your thought on that?
