    We just switched to A Gentle Feast. It’s an incredible curriculum. After trying to wrap my head around AO for weeks, I looked in A Gentle Feast and it was a breath of fresh air. It’s so intuitively laid out, family style learning (as opposed to AO that has each student in their own history cycle), is fantastic for large families for that reason. Also the book selection is rich, and makes more sense for the ages intended (AO assigned books over their heads). And, the cherry on top, they have a complete Canadian curriculum! Most other CM curriculums offered a Canadian booklist as supplemental to their core. AGF has so carefully curated a wonderful selection of Canadian history books. And when you purchase their curriculum you get lifetime access to both the American and Canadian editions.

      Oh, I didn't realize it was so good for large families...that's great!

    I loved that you included Heart of Dakota. It is a less well known curriculum, but it is so rich and Christ-centered.

    We use and LOVE Heart of Dakota. Thank you for mentioning them in your video. I never see videos of their curriculum on TH-cam. You are spot on, it is a very Christ centered curriculum. It has spurred many heart to heart conversations with my kids.

      Oh I'm so glad. I featured them in my gospel-centered video too this week.

    Other CM curricula to consider: Alveary; CMEC; Mater Amabilis (Catholic); Wildwood (secular).

      Well I don't know that I ever had any formal preschool curriculum...just playing mostly.

      I used the CMEC this year and don't know if I want to repurchase my subscription. Any thoughts?

    Hi, thank you for this video. Can you recommend of any Charlotte Mason British curriculums? I’m from England and I’m nervous to get an American curriculum as the history and geography will be different. Thanks! Sophie

      Hi Sophie. I'm from Australia and have the same issue. I use American curriculum because it's often so much better then supplement history. Hope that helps. I'm not familiar with Brittish programs though.

      Hi Sophie, have you heard of The Charlotte Mason Beehive? It has some geography and literature studies. British based.

    Thank you for sharing! I feel like whenever people talk about Masterbooks as a CM curriculum, it is misleading. Charlotte Mason stated in her volumes that the children should be extracting from the readings what resonated most with them but MB contains more extrinsic, formulaic Q&A such as filling in the blanks, which completely takes away from the beauty of CM. That said, I’ve tried MB and I get why people love it! It’s so sweet. I just can’t call it CM.

      Fair enough. They say themselves they are a Charlotte Mason curriculum, so that's why I called it that here. But, I can see your point. CM had many ideas that modern day 'CM curricula' don't carry out to the full.

    We are using My Fathers World. We love it so far. Its very Christ Centered. It’s very gentle for my five year old.

    Thoughts on Sonlight?

      Yes, I think it's fine. It's literature-based though, not Charlotte Mason.

      I’ve used TGTB in the past and I don’t think it’s Charlotte Mason really at all! I know they say they are inspired by the CM philosophy and they have a few aspects sprinkled in now and then but that’s about it.

    • @howtohomeschool
      @howtohomeschool  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@homeschoollifemom yeah. Unfortunately, in a bid to appeal to everyone, they overstretch themselves here a little. I've heard it described as mostly traditional, mostly classical too. And they have an article on how they're also charlotte mason.
