This was so timely. Such a good reminder! We have had a hard time sticking to our plans this past year with bringing my mom (who had ALS) into our home to care for her 24/7 and then saying goodbye to her as she passed from here into eternity. I've felt so guilty at times as well as overwhelmed trying to stick to our curriculum and feeling like I'm letting my kids down when we don't. But now the Lord through this video and countless other places is showing me how much my kids have grown this year anyway and how it's ok to be flexible and how important it is that your curriculum serves you and not that we serve it. How we are teaching children and not teaching curriculum. You remain in my prayers Sonia. God is good and His plan is for good for those who love Him.
So glad that you found this to be timely and encouraging. Praying for you and your family during this difficult season. Thank you for your prayers for Sonya.
Thank you for sharing your kind words and feedback! So glad to hear that this channel has been a blessing for you! Hand work would be anything that can be created with the hands, so this would include: knitting, woodworking, paper sloyd, etc. Here is a list with some additional ideas as well as the reminder that Charlotte Mason encouraged us to ensure that items created be both beautiful and useful. simplycharlottemason.com/timesavers/handicrafts/
It can be very hard to change our mindset from what we were brought up doing even when we believe that a different approach would be best. Here is a helpful post on establishing goals for your child's education with some other things to think of. Another important consideration is looping your child in when they are old enough to weigh in on their future plans/dreams and helping them to make sure they have any courses that may be required of that path. You could also include opportunities to volunteer or shadow someone in a potential career field if they are old enough for that experience. simplycharlottemason.com/blog/how-to-know-you-are-doing-enough/
