7:55 A "spit take" is something you see in older comedies and cartoons where a person/character is drinking something and hears something outrageous and spits what they're drinking all over the place.
The lady that plays Dorothy is also in 1970's tv show called "Maude" and make the same jokes as well. The Loud Guys should one day see 70's tv episodes of The Brady Bunch which is a family show about an architect name Mike Brady that has three boys name Greg, Peter and Bobby and he meets a lady name Carol that has three daughters of her own name Marsha, Jan and Cindy. They get married and they become one big happy family. The kids get to grow up some on the show from years 70 - 75. They also have a maid on the show name Alice too. Good family show to watch. Lots of laughs of family solving everday problems.
Bea Arthur.... She was first Maude in Archie Bunker then the Maude spin off was made to great success. The actress that plays Blanche was also in Maude.
Top 5 American comedy of all time. They never get old (no pun intended). Shame on any remake - it ain’t ever gonna come close to the original- I Love me some GG
@Thomas-yr9ln sweaters, jackets, heavy tops with long sleeves. Not like they were exactly dressed for freezing cold weather, but you'd be very uncomfortable walking around S. Florida dressed like that.
That’s true 😂 but remember these were mature ladies in the 80s on national tv. They were always gonna dress like that. Although, Blanche got away with plenty of risqué outfits.
@user-xb6uc9qb9b I grew up in South Florida in the 80s. Mature ladies didn't dress like that. Usually they'd wear sleeveless or short sleeves. Even those who wanted to dress more covered up or modest would not wear heavy sweaters and jackets. They'd wear thinner, more breathable clothing. Another set of TV shows that does this is Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon. Always thought it was funny to see Penny in a tank top and shorts next to guys in hoodies with thick jackets in LA. And all the Young Sheldon characters in September in South Texas wearing jackets outside.
I used to wonder how well American TV shows play in other countries but I watched Korean game shows when I was in Korea and while I could not understand anything said the body language, facial expressions and tone of voice it was fairly easy to get at least the content of what they were doing .. like the time a lady reporter from the city goes to the country and helps the farmer women gathering mussels in mud flats. Could not understand a word but I understood the women laughing at the city girl ... and why. Watching you guys watch this .. and you recognizing Dorothy's look just before responding .. that is understood without any need for speech. On Rose .. so innocent .. to her holding hands made a boy a friend. You know Dorothy was a Marine in WWII? Someone said she drove trucks.
Nevermind Dorothy's most sarcastic comments, Bea Arthur only had to shoot a look and those eyes said everything. You could mute the sound on the TV and know what she was thinking.
since they are supposed to be 50 ish they were born in the 1930s, except sophia who was born in the 1880s, she had to be since she was a young girl in the early 1900s, but she came to america in the 1912. around there, the timelines are always inconsistant with this show. anywho, i noticed that when blanche talks about the old south, she's really just rehashing, scenes from gone with the wind. like the one scene when she talks about the barbecue.
Love you guys... I'm from New Orleans Louisiana... Love watching your videos. I do not know names however I do know the man there with beard and glasses is so so handsome. No disrespect. 😊😊

@@stephan6372 Thanks for clarifying!👍🏻
I wish they got to see the scene where Dorothy and Blanche are fighting at the table, the line about the army, navy and marines cracks me up :)
I loved hearing whichever one of you snort from laughing so hard; it was cute. 😅
I think was the woman, indeed so cute!
You have to do Rose's St. Olaf stories next. She sometimes broke up Rue and Bee on set.
Definitely!!😂

The show was set in Miami, but they were always dressed like it was cold out.
I never noticed they were dressing for cold weather.

Floridian Air Conditioning Culture means you have to keep your house as cold as a meat locker, so it kinda makes sense.
These videos always leave out my favorite one. “Blanche, not all of us are classified by the Navy as a friendly port.”

Bea Arthur aka Dorthy was comic brilliance and this is the best woman comedy series ever create
