  • Excuse me as I ramble poetically for around seven minutes, yeah? Sometimes I just gotta let out the intrusive thoughts.

I grew up on video games, the feeling of being someone you aren’t for a while is amazing. Take zelda, for example. Becoming Link, even for a bit, is just so beautiful, and it feels amazing to do. So I love video games, and they’re 100% a worthwhile investment.

Wow...just wow. I have come across such beautiful and astounding places and moments in games that I just stood, sat, or stopped what I was doing (except in a combat or such) to take it in...to see something I could never see in reality. However, I saw it in a video game.
Why do I play video games? For moments like those I have seen...it touches something deep inside me and gives me pause to look in awe and wonder. So beautiful...so...so right.

I almost jumped out of my seat when I saw this video was already posted. I meant to set it to be posted at 3:00 P.M. my time, instead I accidentally had it set to 3:00 A.M. my time. Guess I was worried over nothing.

Really enjoyed this video, I enjoyed all the points you had made. I would like to believe you can find this in every game but sometimes those moments can also come from doing things as a community or in a small group as well
I personally play a lot of games with people and I do enjoy all the scenery, all of those moments where I do nothing and just stare off into the distance. But I'm the kind of guy that enjoys sharing those moments with people.
This comment right here is another thing, and I hope you can read this, what you put out was amazing, short and simple, and you explained everything pretty well. And it's true what you said about not everyone sharing the same moments, it's also true that those moments are always special to both the player and the developer.
And again this was an amazing video, sorry if this drags out a point or anything, and I hope you do well in the future. Good luck.

You, my friend just made my day. See, considering what I normally make, I wasn't sure if this video would land or even be seen. But knowing that it connected with you made it all worth it.

Gave you a sub. Good video. I feel like the games that give you free roam are the ones where that beauty shines. For me, I started seeing this with the original Splinter Cell. The police station mission with all it's shadows, the ability to do a split jump and watch from above, covered in shadow. The gameplay elements mixed with the best shadows I had seen at that point sucked me into the game. Those three green lights still hit something in me.

I did enjoy it and i understand what you mean, just yesterday i was wondering around minecraft to look for a cave so i could get some obsidian i stumbled upon such a sight and took a screen shot of it
Nothing super amazing, just a picture that is beautiful to look at, but it's that very picture of that moment that is what you speak of, made of blocks yes but the feeling is the same, regardless of if its got a few thousand pixels or just under 100, beautiful is beautiful

I had never pushed the thinking as far as you just did here but I can definitely relate to some of that. Moments in video games can bring you this sens of beauty, and it can happens with all sort of graphics so it’s definitely not tied to them.
For me it has something to do with composition because you happen to move the camera at this exact position, putting those elements together and, in some way, creating the image.
You know that you have not create any of the elements but you still have something to do with the result.
And something that you create always brings you more emotions 😊

hm, no, that beauty you described was mostly regarded to wide landscape views, which, I agree are the best, and oftentimes the most memorable moments of a video game, I had this with Witcher 1 for example, but its actually implemented by the developers, not entirely up to the players, its not accidental and oftentimes something everyone can experience. What you are going on about is, what is called Qualia, Qualia is highly subjective, that is correct, and it gives us these moments in games and life that we wont forget our lifetimes.

Highly designed 3D spaces built by teams of developers who poured every thought into the layout and composition = accident?
