I hate how companies have just decided "Cooling doesn't matter, it just needs to be thin".
I don't know about the rest of you but I would be more than happy with a thicker laptop of it meant I could actually get the performance out of the components that I paid for.

Kinda a shame that they don't max out the battery to 99.9Wh and keep 4 fans for the Pro 17. I mean you paid almost $2500 up to $4200 for the laptop.

@@cemsengul16 That will do effectively nothing. Maybe a degree or two but that means nothing if the heatsink isn't big enough to deal with the thermals. If anything it will make it heatsoak faster because of the quicker heat transfer.

@@cemsengul16 Liquid metal ain't going to drop the temperatures that much if the cooling solution is at it's limit. I have not seen once anywhere, on any of the tech channels I watch or even anywhere on the internet, a temperature drop of 20c from liquid metal. Sounds to me like it just had garbage paste to begin with or it was just dirty. That is the only situation where that could happen. One thing I've learned about high end laptops is that the thermal paste is only just good enough to cut back on cost.

Thanks for the unbiased review! Im sorta settled for the razer as its clean looking so i can use it at work and also play games after work. I was initially going for the full speced model, but have read about their top tier model being bottlenecked giving in reality only a few percent more benchmark scores than the lower tier model with a 3070ti. So i wanted to confirm to get the lower tier model for the best bang for the buck. A 1000€ extra to get their top tier model is really insane knowing tech values change very fast.

The heat issues have always been a thing with Razer laptops. I think the next models need to really address it. I really like the form factor as well and if they want to keep it I believe they need to change the materials its made out of. Either that or bite the bullet and make it a bit thicker, add better fans, and maybe make the entire bottom ventilated. Somethings got to give, especially at this price.

There is a super easy fix that Razer just hasn't done. Liquid Metal drops the Blades temps by over 10c, combined with even a small undervolt (very easy to do) will see the CPU drop from 100c down to the low 80s. The GPU temp have never been an issue on the 2018+ Blades. Lenovo, Dell, Asus & MSI have all converted to liquid metal but for some reason Razer just won't do it despite the massive benefit.

As gamer and professional I have to point out a few misinformations ; Apple/Macbook always gets praised in terms of heat and fan noise in comparison, but the GPU is not even comparable. They dodge this scenario with the argument: "oh but it's not designed for gaming, for this for that..." I don't buy that, I pay premium price I want to throw whatever I want to, and expect my computer to handle it. Also , there are modes in the software; in silent mode, you can still do basic editing, photoshop work, light 3D design, do some gaming with minimum noise and heat. I have just finished Sifu this way , you can surely play phone games as well ;) battery life is truly sh*t though

I definitely do not need the top CPU and a 3080 Ti, they're far too excessive for my needs and draw too much power. If I could spec my laptop as a 3060 and get the 32 GB of RAM and the 4K screen, I absolutely would. @@okboomer1453 that’s not how it works. Consumer CPUs are built on a transistor node and have a set power limit. As we go from year to year the transistor node decreases for the CPUs resulting in a more powerful and power efficient CPU. It is the way SONY is able to release a launch version of a console and then a slim version a couple years later. They are both identical in performance, but the slim version that comes out a few years later is built on a smaller transistor node, so it uses less power and thus generates less heat. Apple is just better more power efficient with its CPUs while a lot of windows devices fit the most powerful & hottest CPU they possibly can so it looks better on paper.

The 17 has big power delivery but even then still stick to the 3070ti UNLESS you need more cores for work or something, I am speaking purely about gaming. Asus has MUCH more power for less money in still a nice looking device with much better cooling although in a thicker device.

Razer doesn't support their products well.
When I shell out high bucks for a product. I expect to be able to buy normal wear parts for it.
I have a 6 year old Razer 14. Which works fine still however the battery doesn't hold a charge anymore.
    Which is to be expected.
I tried buying 3 batteries from 3 different vendors using the part number from the battery which came with my Razer 14.
None of them would last more than 10 seconds of showing the desktop with nothing running.
I contacted Razer, they said I had to ship the laptop to them for diagnosis. Pay a diagnostic fee. Then if it were a battery as the issue which I knew it was.
The cost to replace the battery would be $350 plus $99 for the diagnostic plus shipping.
So they are copying Apple in repair and I am no longer a customer.

Compared to a MacBook Air (2017) how much better is this including the cooling and all that?

    • @raynjpg
      @raynjpg ปีที่แล้ว

Firstly, a MacBook Air is absolutely a terrible idea for gaming. And it's not really a fair comparison, but my 2015 model MacBook Air has absolutely HORRIBLE cooling. I can't say for 100% sure whether it's worse than a Razer, but from what all these reviewers are describing, a Blade is nowhere near the cooling issues I have with the MacBook. Under light load, it's uncomfortable to the touch, especially around the WASD area and along the screen, but even when I played Roblox back when I first got the laptop it was burning my fingers. Just terrible cooling solution.
If you're going to get a MacBook, get anything but the Air. If it's either this or the Air for you, definitely go for Razer for better performance and cooling.
