Wonderful kit. I see a lot of elements of the WW2 pack in the design. One of which the axe handle is fed through. Was for folding trench tool. Way cool.

I live in New Mexico so I really like your videos. This inspired me to get a haversack (old army issue but I can easily add buckles and sew in compartments. it has a rubberized waterproof liner though which is cool) and it's a great day bag and light weight to carry in my pack. Although I prefer to weave my molle. I have a pouch and canteen and they are much more comfortable when walking to have them secure instead of hanging.
nice! a lot of the old army issue equipment is great stuff, especially if modified to suit your needs and likes.

I know this is an older vid, but I must honestly say as long as I have been watching the tube, I am rarely as entertained by such an enjoyable video. The tunes don't hurt either. I have this channel pinned, subbed and the bell is rung. Thanks bro!
PS I spent some time in Flagstaff & a few years on the high desert across the CA border.
Very well done review, James. Great scenery, music and showing how the haversack can be used in the real world. I think the only thing people might be wondering about is an approximate price point. I think your handle idea is an excellent one!
damn i forgot to mention that. as of right now, the haversack is being sold 65 to 95 bucks depending on the color or pattern.

Wonderful review. I just traded some gear for an older version of one of Malcom's Haversacks on BushCraftUSA and can't wait to get it. I also am enjoying the rest of your channel! I was stationed at White Sands Missile Range back in the 80s when I was enlisted Army and was one of the Scout Masters and Explorer Leaders on post. We got the kids out to the Needles as often as we could. Can't say that I miss the desert at all (I don't do well at 112˚F no matter how 'dry' the heat, and I vastly prefer the same boreal forests here in New England that Malcom designs his gear in) but it was always a good adventure and it is good to see someone enjoying it as well as you seem to.
The intro was one of if not THE best I have ever seen on YT, wow, you’re so lucky to live in the Southwest! Beautiful desert scenery. Love your vids, you have a great way of making us feel like true friends. As if we’re sharing a campfire with you, real gift there. How cold does it get there? I have been camping and bivouacking since I was in the Cub Scouts, and I have owned and used many haversacks over the years. Many. The Hidden Woodsmen version is certainly one of the very best I haver ever used. right now, it is the one I most frequently use. I don't think you can go wrong. Very well built. Nice video.

So happy I ordered mine! Got the black & Coyote color combination ,so i think it will fit into an urban environment just as well in the outdoors. Also I make my own fixin wax ,if you don’t know what that is look up fixin wax on TH-cam. I don’t sell them I just use it for chap stick,cuts,waterproofing gear,treating leather, &wood and steel on my axes and knives. I would love to send you some just out of appreciation of your channel. I live in Fresno Ca and it gets up to 113 to 115 and down to 30-32 so the fixin was should Serve you well.If your not interested it’s all good ,no hard feelings. all the bushcraft style videos ive seen have all been in wooded forests and the like. Seeing this video and knowing that you are from and use this equipment in the american southwest is awesome, since that's also where I live and do all my camping and hiking. Definitely a setup I will be looking into :)

I am out here in Vegas. I have also lived in the area Junkyard fox is in this video. I can tell both of you it is very different. I have been doing bushcraft out here in the Vegas area. But I find myself going to the higher elevation due to the heat. I agree its nicecto some desert guys out there.
I enjoyed your video. I have been trying out a haversack and a small messenger bag as alternatives to day packs on short hikes. Your video gave me some good information and perspective on what I am doing. I am located in the middle Tennessee area. Thanks for the informative video.

Hi James. Didn't mean to mislead. I do not have a Hidden Woodsmen bag... at least not yet. I do have a couple of shoulder bags I use and I have seen other Canadians using Malcolm's haversack. I guess I was trying to say how versatile the design can be

love your vids don't get time to respond but your channel has very good info and advice, since I live in southern Arizona alot of what you do pertains to the same environment that I am in as well and I am not from the desert so you put out great info for me to study before I hit the trails.

Malcolm heard you. He added a lifting handle on top. I have two of these bags, one set for the back country, and the other for city travels. Great for summer when you need less gear and don't want a sweaty back.

so I also live in the desert. I love bushcraft and one thing I have been unable to make and find a video on is making a survival bow in the desert. as you know in the desert there sent as many resources and I was wondering if you could make a video on that. awesome videos! thank you for your time!

I'd put the shamog draped under the top flap of the bag to keep it out of the dirt but still handy. Good system you have there.
don't know if this has been asked yet, but have you considered getting "Malice clips" to better secure your ALICE canteen holder to the PALS/MOLLE?
