    I have one of these too and i love it. I use it for my overall pack. I camp minimal because i have a bad back so i use it to force me not to take too much. I have the bottle kit on the side like you have today with 2 nesting cups (both GSI right now) and i have a little pouch on the other side. This haversack can hold all of my shelter supplies and all of my needs for going out in the woods. I can take some stuff out or put some stuff in depending on my time out.

    I have Malcolm's haversack and the day ruck with the waist belt. they've gone all over with me and the molle webbing and axe sleeves are very useful. I see that on his newer packs he isn't putting the axe sleeve, or the waist belt, thats a shame.

    If i was to tell you i've just packed my kit to do a very similar vid over the weekend you would either call me a lair or copy cat, but seriously i just have.. only your gear is far better than mine, I'm roughing it with an old Claymore mine haversack, I even packed the shemagh. I will have to give you a shout out now so they can watch your vid and see how it should be done :-) I do however have the stainless Nalgene and nesting cup, there is something about nesting kit that gives me that warm fuzzy feeling LOL great vid and coincidence, regards Matt

    YOUR living the dream my friend,proving once again that health is wealth.The haversack you have is similar to my game bag,I carry a Mora companion knife in my game bag for field dressing Deer and rabbits and on my belt a Buck Lite knife and the leatherman charge.The haversack I do have are Wenger Swiss made and very sturdy.Question one knife choice Enzo trapper or Tops knife that you used in one of your videos.Stay safe my friend.

    • @Woodswalker1965
      @Woodswalker1965  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks very much, sounds like you have a solid kit brother. The Tops Bob and the Trapper are very different knives. I would put the Bob in the bushcraft/survival category with the Enzo being more of a traditional bushcraft knife. The Tops is more robust . Hope that helps, both are great but different. Wade

    Nice. I bought a finish gas mask bag to see how I would like to carry a haversack first. I may upgrade to a hidden woodsman or a helikon haversack once I have some experience with them. I like to challenge myself with minimal gear.

    I got this same bag a couple of years ago. The very first time I used it, the stitching on the hatchet sleeve came unstitched. I felt they could have done a better job there, but the rest of it has held up so far. I was going to buy more of their products but the bad stitching has kept me away. I’d like to see some of their other products go through some testing. Their stuff LOOKS nice.

    Good video and a nice haversack pack setup! My original haversack is a buckskin haversack and empty weights about 3.5 lbs or my USMC shouder bag 1.2 lbs. I have had both bags for decades and they work great in the field. I got a light weight .6 lb pathfinder school oilskin haversack bag & with 5 C's kit for Christmas and it works great in the field and is water proofed. I added a oval leather patch to the sholderstrap for comfort and Velcro strip to flap to keep it closed and now it's perfect. The Hidden woodsman haversack you have looks awesome and well made. I have been wanting to buy one that don't look overly militarily tactical for when I am in town but I don't want it to stand out like a sore thumb the woods. How do you like this hidden woodsman haversack bag for quality, cost, comfort and that won't stand out in the woods?

    • @Woodswalker1965
      @Woodswalker1965  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rob Nance Hey Rob! I own a few haversacks myself and did a lot of research before buying this hidden woodsman haversack and Im very happy with it.
      They are not cheap but worth the few extra dollars I believe. 1000d cordura is bombproof already and Malcom doubles up with 500d !
      Its great in the woods, rugged and even sheds dirt and moisture. Its at home travelling or around town. Good all around investment.
      Keep in touch and if you do buy one let me know how you like it, and mention my name to Malcom 👊. Take care friend!

      All the basics including sharpening kit, flashlight etc are found in it.

    Seems very adequate. I'd only suggest a sil fabric poncho. They weigh very little and are very compact. A poncho will protect you from the weather should it rain or snow or if for some reason you can't get back you can use it for shelter.

    Great video...Thanks for producing it. Questions: [1] where did you obtain that grill? [2] you made its case! Wow. Is that a skill mere mortals could practice? And [3] that little green double pouch with your sharpening ditty in it; where did you find it? I like those short hikes after a stressful week of scratching out a living; and I also really like hot tea in the woods. Have a great weekend and your reply would be most appreciated.

      Macro Microbe So thanks for watching, I'll do my best to answer all your questions. I bought the grill here.Bushcraft Grill - Welded Stainless Steel High Strength Mesh (Campfire Rated) - Expedition Research LLC, USA www.amazon.com/dp/B06XTZ6MXD/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_oiK0AbFTDX8K6
      (Hope the link works)
      Yes anybody can sew a simple case but the grills now come with a case so not really necessary. The small pouch if from eBay. Just do a search for tactical pouches and you will have many options!
      Hope this helps my friend. Let me know if you find what you need.

    I don’t know...almost all of their stuff looks way overpriced. I can get a like new ALICE frame in town for 50$ after tax and a new rucksack just like the one they have for like 80...

    Why,in gods name,do you need such an amount of stuff for three hours????

    • @Woodswalker1965
      @Woodswalker1965  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      ulli goschmidt That's a valid question actually. A short hike for me usually involves starting a fire, making coffee and possibly a light lunch so I used quite a few of the items I brought.
      First aid kit is a must have item for me as is the classic trio of cutting tools, axe, saw and knife.
      Many people would consider this kit to be missing many items but I do see how some would think I brought an excess amount of gear.
      Thanks for watching and I hope this covered your question.👍
