I think players are probably more upset because he's saying that he's doing this for the good of the players, when it's actually incredibly risky for them with little to no real benefit in reality, all the while Phil got his money up-front with every player he lures over.

Then two-faced Phil bad mouths the Saudi government, who are the financial backers of the rival tour. Of course, Mickelson has to make himself a "victim" of the PGA. Career earnings approaching $100 million, net worth according to Forbes $800 million, and has $250 million pension from the PGA tour. Also he gets to play the PGA tour Champions, where there is no cut. No organization is perfect but please spare me that victim hood Phil. Also to all the Phil apologists, he can start his own TV network if wants to monetize his image. That's how sports broadcasting business works in conjunction with the NFL, MLB, FIFA, the Olympics, NASCAR, etc. I did it for the good of golf and other players sounds noble but a lame excuse for someone ultra wealthy.

I’ve been a fan of many sports for my entire 52 years, and a huge Phil Michelson fan; however I’m done with the greed of these athletes. I agree but my problem is Rich as I far left liberal which is why I quit watching his show and this video reminds me of that because he has never once called out anyone in the NBA which takes more blood money from China every year whereas this is something that is proposed but the NBA has been taking blood money from China for years as has Hollywood and Rich Eisen never calls that out. This is selective outrage because it came from a white conservative and rich is very far left.

They're in the entertainment business, and you pay the talent, i.e, the golfers. It's simple as that.
How much money does Phil need? I don't know, the GNP of France, perhaps? If the PGA Tour is making a ton of money from media rights and other ancillary products that the players have NO access to, then why shouldn't Phil want at least a piece of that big pie? After all, the fans PAY to see the players play, not the suits in the PGA corporate office.

Any business owner would do the same. Mickelson losing sponsors is just the PGA Tour doing everything possible to snuff out the prospect of a competing tour. This would only help lower ranked and bubble players make more money. Tour players aren't obligated to have the same fealty to the PGA Tour as other professional athletes. @@myguitardetective5961 so you're saying every President, including this one should have the same fate because they all have done business with the Saudi's. Just want to clarify since you only singled out Trump. Just making sure you're not just another Trump hater trying to make him out to be different then ALL other Presidents who have done business with the Saudi's. As we all know the Saudi's have been violating human rights first centuries.

If his fellow professionals are content to have their income reduced artificially by the organisation they work for then that is their right to make that decision, however, those players for whom money is no longer a concern do not appear to have any regard to fellow professionals who are not in that lucky position and so they should show some concern for those fellow professionals who are not in that exhausted position! Ignoring the issues does not deal with them!

Words are the window to how you think. How you think is who you are. You can say anything, but then be prepared to take the consequences. If someone says stupid cruel ignorant things, people have the right to push back. A lot of people don't understand that speech, like behavior, comes with responsibility.
