I built myself a proud parent because we could all use some more pats on the shoulder. And in case nobody has told you that they're proud of you in a while: I'm proud of you. Yeah, you! Here's a pat on the shoulder. Keep the 25¢, this one's on me.

The way Adam said Yes to Simone's question was like Simone asked him to be the godfather of her child. But in a sense, every creation is a child.
Well if someone asked you to be the voice of the mechanical proud parent he's building wouldn't you be honored ? It mean a lot, it mean that your approuval is important to that person, and that's something to be proud and honored of !
I was once the voice of one of China Mobile's English announcements. I still talk about it today. Well, at least I have talked about it today now.

I had the opportunity to chat with him last year (a small non-maker event, and my co-worker and I were the only ones there with him for about 15 minutes).. he has a very soft spot for her, and described her as his personal hero. They're both amazing creatives, so great to see them interact too!
If there's ever a simone giertz museum, I hope this machine is there so we can all try it.
May that museum be -----but late ! If the museum is made reality, now, the things Simone make could go directly into the exhibition when made, but there has to be a time for admiring in the home before letting the things go on show. Some of the items are used in her everyday, so they should have to be copied (if possible).for the museum..

Simone. Can you or Adam share the MP3 file so we can all make a variation of the Proud Dad robot. I'm sure I speak for others who've lost their fathers this would be an awesome way to improve our workshop / workspace. Thinking on your voice could be used for a Proud Mum Robot. I'm guessing there are people who'd like "Proud of you daughter" too. I'm not sure what other gender pronouns are used to refer to offspring, but maybe a selection for folk to choose from would be good also. And finally a generic "Proud of you kiddo".

A. Don't do anything. This is my favorite choice. If people venture into the comment section before finishing the clip it's their decision and they should be responsible for that decision and be ready for the possible consequences.
B. Edit in "spoiler warning for end of video" in the beginning of the comment. It works, and kind of prevents crybabies from saying anything. Still think choice A is better.

I reckon something like this would be awesome with half a dozen recordings with slightly different intonations, even if all from the same person. I remember when I told my Dad I was going to be an Artist and he said "Well if you think you can live of of what you make, Go right ahead" My Mom said "come over anytime you need a meal" I did it for 30+ years and I did miss the occasional meal and even was late on a bill or two, but I would not change a thing.Wonderful machine Simone I see parental approval with each pat!

The tone of Adam Savage's voice in the audio clip used is so warm it takes this project from cynical and dark to sincere and sad. Excellent execution on the build Simone! And it was nice to hear from your parents. I read the video title and I thought, 'but Simone has at least one parent (I had seen a much earlier video that included your mom) and she was visibly a proud parent'. But your explanation that the project started with a conversation with another maker answered my mental question and Mom & Pop at the end was a nice touch. Thank you!

I never thought I'd cry because of one of your robots, but here I am. Adam's enthusiasm and passion for making things is so similar to my dads. Ever since my dads passing last year I've been relying a lot on tested and other projects Adam works on to get through each day. Hearing him say "proud of you son" brought back a lot of fond memories. Thank you Simone and thank you Adam.
