I am an educated woman, had a professional career (retired).I loved my job and was rewarded for my work. I was proud to do the job. However nothing ever rivaled my gift of motherhood and a wife. Absolutely no contest. I thank God and think of Marys place when she lived on earth. She is now given us as our mother. Joseph was a carpenter but his glory was being earthly father of Jesus and husband of Mary. Nothing compares.

GOD created each as He decided. Those who God created as gays carry that cross, and it is not to be made heavier by BULLY'S ! WE ARE BEING TESTED AS HOW WE TREAT THOSE WHO ARE DIFFERENT THAN US. WE MUST ACCEPT ALL THE WAY GOD MADE THEM. @@mspastorem My dear friend, Bishop Paprocki is far from a bully. He is one of the more pastoral shepherds we have in the USA. You see, he loves his flock so much that he will speak against the disordered ideologies of our day so that those entrusted to his care will spend eternity with him in the heavenly homeland. When I use the word disordered, I simply mean that ideologies which seek to satisfy our base desires are not ordered to God's will. Whether God created our same-sex attracted brothers and sister that way is a mystery that the Catholic Church has not weighed in on. What the Church does weigh in on is that the sexual relations are reserved to the married life for unity and procreation. The loving response is to let anyone, gay or straight, know that sexual relations outside of marriage is sinful.

@@mmurph2686What about the statement from the Benedictine Sisters? Does that carry any weight or are they to be discarded? Mother Mary has always said to do all things with humility and love. If there is no humility in the righteousness, it is not righteousness but merely pride. May God Bless his excellency, the Benedictine sisters, all God’s Favored sons and daughters, and all lay people with humility, and lead them all on the paths He wants them to follow, to the place He wants them to be.

@@genuinetuffguy1854 The power of Butker’s speech is that it has opened a dialogue about societal norms and how they are impacted by conditioned thinking. There are two sides to every argument, but some arguments are just better as they lead to human flourishing. The Benedictine Sisters have weighed in on the conversation as has everyone else. Of course, our biases and experiences/observations are going to determine whose statements gain more traction in our own hearts and minds. I tend to prefer the position of Bishop Paprocki and Butker to the more ambiguous statement from the Sisters because I have experienced (through my ministry) the desperation of women in their late 30s-early 40s who chose career over family and realize the negative impact of that choice.

@@mmurph2686 The speech could have been way more encouraging and supportive for the role of mothers without throwing out so much criticism. He was admonishing priests and bishops as well as overlooking other contributions of women. He used the term “stay in your lane” so many times. If someone chooses to weaponize their speech they are going to yield more bitter fruits. He could have chosen to say positive things about the role of mothers as well as the role of consecrated life without assuming such a judgmental air of supremacy, but he chose to be essentially political trying to score points with ultra conservative pundits. He was also essentially throwing out Novus Ordo. This is not a way to open up dialogue about these matters, it is a way to further increase division within the church.

I couldn’t agree more. I’ve seen too many priests be wishie washie and going along with the newer popular secular ways. When our priests are meant to be leaders of the people and church. Being a Catholic isn’t a popularity contest it’s job is to lead us to heaven

And yet, Bishop Paprocki couldn't bring himself to admit that Butker propagating the lie that the Jews are killers of Christ, and mispresenting the Antisemitism Awareness Act of 2023, are a problem. Why do you ignore this? Heck, it wouldn't surprise me if he gets his takes from outlets like TheBlaze, Breitbart, The Daily Wire, and TP USA.

What is true in your religion is your belief and opinion and not an objective fact. If any religion was objective fact, there would be no need for faith, as faith is belief in that which can’t be demonstrated as objective fact.

So, Butker spoke out "about what is true in our catholic religion," did he? REALLY? Well, not according to the head of the Roman Catholic church, the POPE, whose views are diametrically opposed to the hateful, intolerant, bigoted, misogynist views expressed by Butker! As a catholic, I am sure you are aware that, according to Roman Catholic dogma, it is the POPE, who is the ultimate arbiter of what is "true in our catholic religion" and who is INFALLIBLE on issues of religion & morality, and not some reactionary extremist, whose sole contribution to the world is kicking an oddly-shaped ball and condemning and/or maligning those who don't agree with him!

The only reason Mr. Butkers speach made any ripple, is because the cowardly actions of the men in the laity not catechizing their children for generations, and not teaching their sons about the importance of the Bill of Rights. Have the Catholic leadership dropped the ball, since the 1950s, I would argue since the English persecution of Catholics in the 1800s, but Holy Mother Church is only as strong as the laity, Saints and Martys.
