Stella's Saturday Special: Fire up the 58 Plymouth Savoy!

  • Hi!
Just thought I'd drag the '58 Savoy out of the barn this May, fire it up for the hell of it, and drive it around the compound a bit...
I bought this car years ago and some of you were asking about it, so here is some more glamorous footage of that fine automobile! The 230-inch flathead still runs ok, and still leaves a nice blue haze as it chugs around. I am still collecting parts to make a nice 57 and a nice 58 coupe. I have almost everything I need now, so I will actually build these cars as soon as a couple of others are done.
Anyway, thanks for watching this stuff; I'm almost done the next episode of "Will it Run?", but I thought I'd put this little video up in the meantime for those of you who just like looking at junkers rattling around!
Cheers from me and Stella, and the rest of the Agents! Thanks again for watching and subscribing!

Somebody a few blocks from me has a 61 Plymouth. When we bought this house a few years ago, it was the first 61 Plymouth I had seen in decades.

  • @sethguest781

Every time I see one of these on the road, it totally boggles my mind knowing that rarely do you see a '57-'58 Plymouth that's NOT a "Christine" replica but just how it rolled out of the showroom 30 or so years ago! Also, given what it requires to put one of these back together (not a very big aftermarket for this car) it's a true labor of love for sure!

Great video. Lots of nice stuff. I really liked the the '67 Fury. My second car (not counting the one that never made it on the road) was a '68 Fury II, 2 dr hardtop, which I put many awesome miles on. Then a few years later, I turned a '68 Sport Fury (w/ '67 Fury sedan parts car and totaled '74 Road Runner 440 power train) into a very radical custom, to divert my mind from my first female induced heartbreak.

Hello from central Minnesota! My dad had one of those. He sold his 52 Studebaker Starlight Coupe ( Which his nephew promptly totaled!) and drove it until 63 when he bought A Dodge 330. The Plymouth was A V-8 coupe but ma made him buy A 4 door to accommodate his growing family. He never enjoyed A 2 door again after 63 except for A Ford P.U. he had for A short time.
Good to see all the old iron you have. Not much of that stuff survives here in the land of salt and ice!

I didn't think I would ever see a 58 Plymouth Savoy with a 3 speed on the column shift but that's unusual to see one with a straight 6 but Being a Savoy it was Chrysler's low price car in the field now if this was a fury with a golden Commando engine with a 3 speed on the column shift with overdrive this card would be priceless., I had a car like that but it was not a Savoie but it was a fury two door station wagon but it was known as Plymouth Suburban but other than that that's a beautiful car!
