- Watch in amazement as a 1958 Plymouth parts car is transformed before your eyes to an award winning Christine clone........unbelievable !! Many thanks to all the guys and gals who contributed time, sweat and money to complete this project. As you can see, it was well worth it !!
I'm jealous of you Cuntingham!!! GREAT WORK!! Not only did you build Christine, you saved a true classic from the graveyard. Wish I had her.

Beautiful restoration work. My mom had a '59 Plymouth Belvedere. I find it amazing and ironic that Stephen King can dream up a story, put it on paper, then a movie is made... and the long forgotten, much maligned '58 Plymouth Fury comes out of the dead zone of lost car history to take on cult status. '58 Plymouths are more desirable and popular much more now than they were back in 58 or 59, thanks to the very strange mind of Stephen King and the amazing power of movies. Your Plymouth is really nice and it is great to see a 58 back in top condition. You are an artist.
Charles Butler even more ironic that Stephen King, usually very detail oriented, got Christine all wrong in the book. In the book Christine was a four door, even though the Fury was not offered as a four door, or for that matter in any other color than a ivory white. There were no red 58 Plymouth Furies. He also got the engine wrong, the transmission, and the shifter. He described Christine's engine as a 318, which would've been instead of the one year only 350 V-8. He described her transmission as a Hydra-Matic, which was used in some GM cars, but never in a Plymouth. He should've written Torque Flite. He described the gear lever moving itself in to drive, when all Chrysler Corp. automatic cars in 1958 (actually 55-64) had a push button shifter. When they went to make the movie, Christine was made in to a two-door, but the studio used Belvederes with Fury trim, since even in the early 80's a real Fury was a little bit collectible.

@@calvinhandley2373 The '58 Fury was never painted red. The Fury was beige with gold trim. Belvedere was available in red. Some Furys had swivel front seats. Fury was a limited production model. It is interesting how then they had Plaza, Savoy, Belvedere and Fury on the same body shell. They got a lot of attention when new, but were prone to rust. Not many survived to the 1970s.
@@calvinhandley2373 Like the very first scene in the movie, all of these decisions were made by the director. King's decision for red was the fact, (From the book.) that she needed blood to regenerate. And therefore that was her color. Also from Tim Keith. over one hundred cars were used and ?17? of them survived the making of the movie. Since they were already red, they didn't need to be repainted for the movie. And since they weren't the Fury, they were also cheaper, which was easier on the budget to make the movie.

I had had the great pleasure in restoring a classic to the same condition of this beautiful beautiful Plymouth. There is nothing like the feeling you get when you stand back and take those final pictures. then get behind the wheel and feel how the car drove when brand new. A truly great job done here. Congratulations on the whole job and more to the point keeping the originality as well.

My dad's 1st new car ever was a '58 Plymouth.
(I was 10 yrs old) Three months old and it burned to the ground for no reason! Chrysler replaced the car free of charge and delivered the new car to our house!

What a stunning restoration! I owned one of these back in the day - it was a convertible, matador red with a white top and interior. Letting it go was one of the dumbest things I every did! I'll never forget that car and have no idea what I replaced it with.

Use to be a auto body repaired for 15 yrs.Worked on a 69 Plymouth GTX put after market quarters on etc must of been 6 ' long,ALOT of welding.Enjoyed the video!

As good as this video is , the Saxaphone music got to my core . Had not heard "Harlem Nocturne" for some time. It took me back on a trip to revisit my young soul.
Amazing work. I plan on doing one of these, myself. Except i'm going to go the easy route-- stand twenty feet in front of the car, and exclaim "Show me". That should do the trick, I think.

Lol my first car 318 big block one barrel carb push button automatic . 8 miles to the gallon rides like silk . Mine was metallic green and white top . She was a cruiser , wish I had it now along with all the muscle cars I had .

I was in a shop in Camrose Alberta Canada about 3 years ago. The guy has a couple of 57 or 58's all restored and in perfect shape. One is even a convertible and he has it up on a hoist above the other one. I would give up both of the family jewels for either of them.
