    I can confirm this works with an Xbox Series X/S for 120 fps. You need to go to the "video fidelity & overscan" settings and change "overrides" to HDMI instead of automatic. You can then change the resolution and refresh rate to 1080p and 120Hz.

    Update: Thanks to feedback, here is how to enable 120Hz on the Xbox: Go to Settings > General > TV and Display Options > Video Fidelity and Overscan > Display Overrides and set it to HDMI instead of Auto, which should give the option of now setting the resolution to 1080p and refresh rate to 120Hz.

      MY ONLY QUESTION IS: HAVE YOU TRIED ANY 2.1 HDMI TO MICRO HDMI CABLE?

    • @RetroGameCorps
      @RetroGameCorps  2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@elhamratul I have a 2.1 mini HDMI to HDMI cable, and it didn't make a difference with the Xbox, as far as I can tell it provided no benefit over the HDMI cable that came in the box. HDMI 2.1 shouldn't be necessary, the signal is 1080p 120Hz that we're shooting for, which has been available since HDMI 1.4.

    • @RetroGameCorps
      @RetroGameCorps  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @watchmejumpstart there is no relevant information in the booklet, the only setting that could potential affect refresh rate is FREESYNC and that didn't affect the refresh rate. It is possible to adjust the refresh rate on the Steam Deck while in desktop mode, so you could theoretically browse the desktop experience in 144Hz, but it will stay at 60Hz while in game mode.

    • @tdata545
      @tdata545 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      SEE that's what I was going to suggest, FREESYNC on might be how they hid it. Try OCR/DCR (Can't read it on screen), that's the over clock feature, though you might need a wall outlet since that might pull the full 15W.

      Please test to make sure you are accurately setting up for the Xbox. I had issues setting mine up with my high refresh rate monitor. You need to go to Settings > General > TV and Display Options > Video Fidelity and Overscan > Display Overrides. Please set it to HDMI. It might be set to Auto currently. Then go back and set the resolution to 1080p and refresh rate to 120hz. Let me know if this fixes it. If it is capable for 120hz on other devices, it should work with Xbox but you need to set it up correctly.

  • @aronmayo
    @aronmayo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +29

    This likely just means the EDID handshake information on the monitor (the thing that tells the Xbox and other devices what display modes, res and hz, the monitor supports) isn’t set up correctly by the manufacturer. It’s a software shortcoming, basically. It could likely be fixed by a patch. If a PC can get the correct resolution and refresh rate but other devices can’t then this is very likely the issue.
    Hopefully they included a way for consumers to patch it at home.

    So the same thing happened with my 4k 120Hz TV. I have both the Series S and Series X, and for both the Xboxs said that my TV is not capable of those outputs. I had to go to the Xbox's display settings and reset everything to default, and then select a resolution mode.
    By default, the Xbox tries to output at the highest resolution possible which in most cases will hinder its refresh rate. Sometimes you have to choose the "I want 120Hz and I do not care if it is 1080p" option.

    if you have portable PC (like Beelink, minisforum, topton) you will actually achieve laptop-like solution with such portable monitor. The huge bonus of the miniPC over the laptop is the full set of outputs (which otherwise can be cured with docking station i.e. $250 i.e. notsogood). So for MiniPC it is easier to get a normal fullsize PC videocard in use (with normal PSU of course) ... as result in your place you have fully functional PC, but you can bring it somewhere just like laptop. Almost, but yeah. Another big (+) nowadays (super high electricity prices) is: you can use the miniPC when browsing/filming/etc and turn on the full power only when gaming. Which stands for 20-50W most of the time. Coz gaming laptop (with additional videochip) and full desktop PC can't go under 150W actually ... even when browsing the modern browsers are using the videocard, so it consumes power all the time ... All in all, we are living in interesting times, hehe. Thz for the vid, I am considering a 4K display from this company.

      @Ryan Ryan it's worth the asking price, the freesync range on this is actually better than most expensive monitors in my experience. Really impressive, you'll have to turn the brightness on the monitor to around 85 and turn saturation up a bit.
      Make sure it's set to 120hz/1080p output in the steam deck settings, also change the output resolution from auto to 1080p in individual game settings.
      I'd also say you're best with a 30w power supply, tho one included wasn't quite up to snuff as it restarted the monitor when ramping up settings and turning the volume up past 50%. Fine once the power delivery was increased though
      All in all, it's a bargain 👍🏻

I wanted to confirm that if you turn off or unplug this monitor, that it will save the settings (i.e. brightness, contrast, colour,) and not reset it to its original default settings. My friend had a portable monitor he got for fairly cheap (ingnok 15") and it does this which I can see being a problem if your use case involves you having to unplug it even once or more a day. Any help is appreciated, thanks again!

    I just bought this monitor and I can get 144Hz to work on HDMI using the supplied cables. I Use a 150w GAN charger and a 100w rated hub. The menu on the monitor says it's pulling 12v from the PD while at 1920x1080@144Hz.
    However, I cannot get USBC video to work with either USBC hub. Not even after giving it 1 USBC as power and one as video. I can connect directly to the Steam Deck. When I do that, the refresh and brightness drop and the menu shows 1920x1080@60Hz and 5w of PD. Oh and the Steam Deck shows a different name for the monitor in display settings (Synaptics Inc Non-PNP). I think that my USBC hubs don't allow enough power through the USBC video out port. I tested this by supplying power via the HUB's USBA port. Through HDMI and power from the USBA port I can only get 60Hz,,,, So power is definitely a factor. 7v will get you 144Hz

    After owning the UPerfect QLED 1080P 500 NIT monitor, I can't go any lower. This thing in and of itself is way too bright, that I literally had to install a screen dimmer overlay app for Windows. I think I measured it with wall power, and it gets up to 600 NITS according to my instruments. The colors on it are just amazing. I also have 4 more of the Pepper Jobs OLED 4k 500 NIT monitors, went all in on that disaster. SIGH, it was a kickstarter, was the last I'll ever back. They want 1200 for it, I paid $900 and found the exact same monitor from a different company for a more stomachable $600 with billions of colors, same brightness and same MPP 2.0 support.

      @RetroGameCorps  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Xbox Series S doesn't have a USB-C port, so I'm not able to provide a video signal from the Xbox other than through the HDMI output. You wouldn't be able to use a USB-C adapter from the HDMI port into a USB-C port on the monitor, that's not how those signals behave. So the HDMi option is the only choice in this context, it's just not showing a high refresh rate. I have a high refresh rate monitor for my main monitor and it shows 120Hz just fine from my Xbox via HDMI.
