I signed up for KnitCrate for a few months last year. I never wanted to be completely surprised, so I would always look at the reveal and either change my colorway or skip for the month. It was super easy to make those changes. And the yarn I received was always really nice. I only stopped the subscription because I want to be more purposeful in my yarn purchases this year. But if you like building a stash and/or like being surprised, KnitCrate is a great option! I really like the color of this sock yarn!
I also had very few solids or tonals before getting KnitCrate. I loved using them to really show off detailed patterns and for heels-cuffs-toes. Really gorgeous colorway. I used a stress ball to exercise my hand/fingers after breaking several bones in my wrist. Worked great 👍

I’m a long time crocheter but a new knitter and am learning to knit specifically to be able to knit socks! Crochet socks just aren’t the same. I just found your channel and watched all of your videos from January, and I love the idea of 30 minutes of knitting a day! I can’t wait to catch up on some more of your podcasts and watch some of your tutorials!! Just wanted to pop in and say thanks!
The sock crates seem to be sold out so I think you've done a good job haha. Looks fun but I told my husband "I have enough sock yarn for now" and he looked at me bewildered and asked for that in writing 🤣🤣

I got the same color way as you did. I like the color, but not a fan of the sparkle. I’ve been getting sock crate for a while and usually get a solid color. I’m actually thinking of canceling it. I haven’t been loving the yarns and the extras they’ve been sending are pretty bad. I’d rather them reduce the price than waste money on a dumb extra that no one really wants. Also they used to send a box and now it costs $5 more. My card that comes in the eco bag is always pretty mangled. Sorry, but I’ve been kind of frustrated with knit crate lately
Have to say, having watched both of Kay's unboxings... I don't quite see the allure of Knitcrate. Compared to the Hypnotic Yarns subscription box, Knitcrate seems pretty underwhelming, especially if you are looking at the extras. Hey, if Kay and others like it, I'm really happy for them. I just know I wouldn't have been excited about either box, especially at that price point. I usually buy the deeply discounted mystery sock yarn at Knitpicks when they have them and find *that* a lot of fun. I think the last one was $30ish and came with 300g of yarn in multiple bases.
Love heading y’all’s thoughts on these boxes! I was so excited to offer an unboxing for knit crate as well since I have done the yARNaBLE for so long. And don’t worry. The yARNaBLE unboxing aren’t going anywhere! LOVE those boxes!!!
I received January and was kind of bummed about the stellina - it's not my jam - looks like February sock will include stellina fiber so I cancelled my membership. Maybe I'll try again down the road, but not having the ability to opt out of certain fibers probably means this isn't a good fit for me unfortunately. Thank you though Kay for introducing us to them! Love to follow all your recommendations.

I’m in Canada and I still haven’t received my traditional crates or malabrigo crate for January. It’s almost March.

I love that they do all different bases and speckled, tonals and solid. It's a very nice box. I love all of mine.

Yep you can. As long as you have nylon in the yarn i wouldn’t see why it wouldn’t wear well. The nylon makes it more durable.
