I have used silk in socks. My husband pick out a very pricey skein of yarn that is 70% BFL 20% Silk and 10% Cashmere. The yarn is from Less Traveled Yarn;Mallard Definition collection. The color-way Dreamliner😊 worked up nicely.
Silk feels very soft with socks. I believe they have given silk in bases of their yarn before and I’m knitting this particular yarn up right now, it’s very soft and has a drape to it which is lovely. I love that sock crate has so many different bases they send .
I didn't realize that the yarns I chose for both my husband and my Christmas socks had silk in them last year. But We both really like them! So far they feel really durable and are very comfortable. The only differences that I can tell at this point are that they are not as fluffy as other fiber content combos I've used (so far) and there might be a little less stretch (but I"m also a tight knitter).
LOVE silk in my knitted socks: moisture and warmth regulating (nice in summer as well as winter) and strong. Not lightfast, so keep away from too much sunlight.
I got the same exact color way in February. I’m not a sparkle yarn person but It is a pretty color. I may try to find another pattern to use or maybe just vanilla socks with it- not sure yet
I am actually in the process of knitting up a pair of vanilla socks using your socks on a 9” circular tutorial. The yarn is 50% wool and 50% silk. I just got the first one done today and it feels like a dream! The socks will be a birthday gift for my sister.
I like different things about each box. Knitcrate is letting me add some solid/tonals to my stash so far but I haven't loved their extras. yarnable has fun variegated yarns and I love their extras! So, just depends on what you are looking for from a box. :)
I've actually never knit anything with silk that I can recall. But I would say you care for it the way you would most hand knit items. Soak it to wash it and then lay it flat to dry. :)
Beautiful sweaters, gorgeous yarns, and a new puppy. Spend as much time as possible with your boys~the time goes way to fast! Fun episode
I think that yarn would make a gorgeous musselburgh! 😍
The pink yarn is gorgeous. I think a cowl would be beautiful. Or used in a shawl.
I am sure we will see a pair of socks from this yarn soon...just because of the different blend. I do like the colour you received.
Very pretty colour love the sparkle too 💖
Very pretty yarn! X

Silk is durable plus it's a natural fiber, and that's a good thing! 🌱🐛
Silk is perfect for socks! 😍😍
I personally haven't knit socks with silk yarn but when researching nylon alternatives I found that silk is excellent as a choice.
Lovely!😊

This pretty yarn would be nice for another Musselburgh hat! 😊

Thanks for sharing! Got a great deal on my subscription through your link.
Hope you love it!! ❤️
I used to keep silkworms. Silk is extremely strong..

I've used silk in socks. Just one pair but they wear nicely. They maybe lose their shape a little more than a standard nylon stabilizer.
I've used silk. It's stronger and warmer.
I think silk is very strong and durable as well as giving a lovely soft sheen to the knitted fabric.
One of my favorite pairs of socks has silk in it instead of nylon.
Silk is stronger than nylon so I imagine a pair of socks would wear really well and feel delightful
I just got my first box and I joined from your site
Hope you love it!
yes to silk - it is a good strong fiber and nice and soft. I have even bought hiking socks from REI and they had silk in them
I need to try it.
Silk is a very strong fiber.
Dyerwolf yarns has a sock box, It’s a monthly based on books. Hand dyed yarns. Have you ever tried this? I was thinking of trying.
Nope, haven't tried it.
You should design a pretty pattern with lace work - it would show nicely in that pink. I got that color too :)
Lovely colour!!!
I believe silk is stronger than nylon?
ahhhh...yes use it for socks
I knit a pair of socks for my brother out of Regia Premium. It contains silk. Nice yarn and the socks turned out great. -lajoyagirl
Would you mind me asking which you prefer out of Knitcrate and Yarnable? I would really like to sign up to one of them but not both 😉 thanks!

Never used silk in socks. I would be interested to know how that holds up compared to wool/nylon.
I would be interested in knowing as well. 😀
Silk is a very strong fiber
How do you care for knits made with silk yarn? I have a beautiful skein with silk in it and haven’t decided what to do with it yet.

@@CrazySockLady thanks!
I was wondering, can you do the fish lips kiss heel as an afterthought heel? Has anyone tried it?
I'm not aware of a way to do it as an afterthought heel.
Off topic but what is that sweater you are wearing? It's beautiful!
I thought the same thing and went to Kate’s Ravelry page. It’s the Pavement. Hope you don’t mind that I answered.
@@nancymorales2741 Thanks so much. I’ll have to look that up.
The Pavement, the project page is linked below the video ❤️
Silk is supposed to be a good replacement for nylon ☺️
