Love Boston Fiber Company! So many yarn shop owners are stuffy and unhelpful. I hate going to a shop to spend my money and feel like I'm not wanted there. Sara is so friendly, welcoming and helpful. And she offers so much inspiration by providing diverse yarn choices, patterns, books, supplies and examples. Just an all around wonderful shop.
I was born in Boston, and I definitely need to go back and visit so I can check out Boston Fiber Company. I love the emphasis on local yarns and products. Congratulations, Sarah, on such a cool shop. Nice interview, Natalie!
I live in the area but I've only been to the shop twice - this video makes me want to go back and bring my fiber friend! Love the Boston lore mixed in!
I’m in Weymouth. I will be stopping by soon in the New Year. I am a midrange knitter and a member of a church based knitting group. I will tell you the story when I am in. Do you teach knitting and crocheting? I love love love your sweater.
Let me get this straight… the community DONATES yarn for the less fortunate to use and then this owner SELLS it for $5????? Commercial yarn that costs less than $5 to begin with???
You can get some yarn for $5, but most of the donated yarn is nicer yarn so it’s a good deal! Also it does cost the store to take up shelf space & other overheads like paying employees so they’re definitely not trying to rip people off. I really appreciate having a sale section for more affordable options :)
I shop at this store and there are some commercial yarns in the $5 shelf, but there’s also beautiful hand dyed yarns, vintage yarns, and farm yarns. It all balances out and you pick what you want! And it goes to a great cause 🌞
