Overloud TH-U is the best. Very realistic and natural.

NO contest here btw, Scuffham's S-Gear wins by a mile!

Well ....here results of my jury ;-)
    - S-Gear: clear winner. Always very present sound, never harsh, easily usable in a mix without changes
    - TSE Audio: not so bad - for my ears too aggressive, but for metal fans maybe good
    - Overloud: whoever did that Software had no idea, that an guitar also generates high frequencies
    - Mercuriall: never heard such a harsh and ear hurting distortion! Ouch!
    - UA: some sound are acceptable, overall however just average

TH-U best sounds and best UI. The wide variation in volume is a real problem for comparison though, as the louder often sounds better

Nice vid. I heard great things about TH-U sim; they sound realistic but from the next room over. They just dont sound like they’d stick out as easy in a mix but what do i know? I just bang on drums most the time

Overloud TH-U was by far the worst for me. Like a blanket was thrown over the speakers compared to the others (especially in the single riffs, it fared better in the mix) and it managed to be the most fizzy despite that... It sounds very unnatural and unrealistic to my ears (despite the stereo treatment it was given). With their reputation, Mercuriall also was a disappointment. Not convincing at all and it didn't cut in the mix.
Standouts to me were the S-Gear and PT-100 and in some cases the TSE. I have not played the PT-100 (sim or real) or the TSE but I own the S-Gear and it feels the best of any sim I tried under the fingers and sounds the best too. Very tweakable and realistic. It's also worth it to try other IRs with it (it often sounds even better with Ownhammer IRs). The Wayfarer really nails the Fender Twin's high headroom clean.
    Listening in high quality headphones.

MNR SYN hey 👋🏻 ,can I please ask you ,i am about to buy an amp and I was going to spend about 600$ for the katana artist.but the truth is that all I will be playing would be in my study in one place, would it make more sense to put my money in good studio monitors, and some good vst guitar software? Or would an amp always be better? (The amp would also have the option of recording straight in to the computer).... im just not sure if it is necessary to buy the amp if all I’ll be playing is in one place..... ? Any help would really really be appreciated:))

I have used FRFR speakers with at least three of these programs and in my headphones the distortions sound much better. With which brand of external speakers are the best results achieved?

this video does not work, it is a deception and completely unfair between the sound of the plugins, the tracks with mix of Overloud and UAD are recorded in stereo with two shots, and those of S-Gear, Mercuriall and Tse are recorded with a single shot in Mono, so a fair and balanced comparison is impossible. Why is it?

Ur wrong, some of TH presets generate a reverb FX and it goes as dual channel ( stereo ) sound. TH is the best of presented but why choose a bathroom preset when it has 1k sound banks for any type of rock\metal genre tones.
I recored some tracks like 5~10 years ago on TH2, I cant even imagine what new TH- U or above can provide for guitar sound. Universal Audio PT has a similar sound output as TH, like, its one of presets from TH, interesting plugin.

I noticed this as well; I thought it was probably just stereo delay preset? To compensate for this, listeners should probably just listen to everything in mono.

THU Overloud, some examples are way too loud, pls let Jimi rest in peace. TH-U makes guitar sit well in a mix. I also liked IK's Fender amps, have you deleted it?

Scuffham. I almost bought the software but found them not enough versatile.

Wow THU sounds so muffled, easily the worse by a mile. Even Logics amp designer sounds better than overloads (under a blanket and about 3 doors down the road) THU.
Not sure which is the best, but I liked Scuffhams SGear and UAD a lot, both just sound alot like a real amp.
