10:59 this guy has a good point for lower rank players like bronze to maybe gold, depends, but after a while you learn that, “hey, if i shoot the zar and commit, she dies”, so getting into the mindset if just committing to the things you do, most of the time you win, not saying commit to chase the soldier across the map of course, so long as you can force him out of the fight thats good enough, but other things like shooting the zar or orisa who is dominating point, you have to commit or you lose, there are many other factors but i dont wanna go on a 10 paragraph essay rant on a tik tok react video
As a player, you need to know when it’s a good time to shoot Zarya’s bubbles and when it’s not a good time. Metal rank players usually do the opposite of why you’re supposed to do. They’ll spam her bubbles when she’s in a safe spot or under little threat. Then when she runs in, nobody will shoot her so she takes infinite space and rolls over your entire team. If she commits and she’s in the open, then burn the bubbles and destroy her. 100 energy doesn’t do anything if she’s dead or has to run away.
A good rule I follow is to only break the bubble if I feel like I'll definitely get the kill. 👍
5:12 there are games where I’m going negative and my dps are both server admins and I end up being the one who’s getting counter swapped even though I just sit in my back line doing as much as I can
in those situations I just zar and bubble them

Open queue on console is WAY better and active than you'd think. I can't speak about PC, but console open queue is actually pretty dope.
After the wide restrictions made it so I couldn't really play with my friends anymore, we all moved to open queue and it's been infinitely more fun.
3:53 we can absolutely go back to 6v6 and have que times be fine. Im so sick of everyone forgetting ow1 was a PAID BOX MODEL GAME that was abandoned for 2 years, of course que times are gonna be shit. But now, as a FREE TO PLAY MODEL with constant updates, que times wont be an issue (well, unless they don’t change how the wide group shit works but you know what i mean)
They nerfed venture because the milisecond they hit ranked play everyone from plat and lower started screaming and crying and tantruming about how venture was too OP because they didnt respect venture's personal space one time and got giga-rolled.
I get the instant reaction to those scenarios bc as a Tracer main nothing makes me more frustrated than when I dont respect a reaper and he punishes me with a one tap so my instant reaction is to nerf him bc he shouldn't one tap me. BUUUUT thats just me being frustrated and dont actually mean it or want that. I truly dont see how people can get so mad at their own mistake and yet still blame something else for long enough to pull out their phone and complain about it

Flats seems to think queue times would be way longer with 6v6, but he somehow forgot that wasn't the case in OW1. The main reason playing tank feels miserable in OW2 is because there is only 1 tank per team, to be the only big punching bag and all that, so no one wants to queue for it.
Also I guess people tend to forget that the game was LITERALLY abandoned for 2 years and were stuck with the one meta, double shield. It was never a format issue it was a balancing issue
Ow1 tank que was long for other rolls in top 500 because there was no tank on players so yes que times would be way longer with 6v6
With how OW2 ruined the Tank experience, going back to 6v6 might be worse at the start.
And may get better as people enjoy Tanking more in 6v6.
However it might be too late and even out to about the same
The queues were bad even back then but what no one points out is that because the tank role sucked no one wanted to play it. If the role was fun, the queue times would be fine. It's not something inherent to the role
get beat up by the enemy team, get mentally beat up by your own team for getting beat up by the enemy team 🥲
I realize we all have our biases, but support is 100% the role that is most reliant on team play.
As a Tank and Support main. I argue Tank purely cause of dependency on receiving healing especially when you're the solo sponge. While support is the most chaotic role. Keep in mind I'm using fight metric not over all match wins. If you're talking match wins i agree with support.
I would say tank is more reliant on teamplay. Supports on the other hand are the most important/impactful players in a team.
When tanks dont play in a team they gonna die a lot, while if supports dont play in a team all other roles gonna die a lot.
Nah tank is, i stopped playing tank because i don't plan on touching that fucking thing, but i play a lot of support now, in tank you're just standing there basically praying that you get Lamp/Suzu/Weaver Pull, Beat, Tree, Etc. Point being you're always waiting for someone to bail you out, if you don't have a good support you're gone.

Open que has been the most fun playing tank I've had in a awhile actually being able to play rein without being melted due to having another tank being able to help

with winstons primary fire not being affected by armor makes him really good against dva and high armor tanks ive been going a little bananas
They nerfed venture because venture single handedly ran games at ranks below masters. I have a friend who has been silver for 2 years and within a week of ventures release she climbed to Diamond.
I think the best example of that map pick > counter pick argument is zarya versus dva.
Yes, you could say that zarya counter dva because dva cant matrix her beam, but on a lot of maps, especially on those that are played vertically, the zarya will struggle to do anything because the dva will easily escape/avoid her (OR on long range maps, zarya will struggle to get in because she'll pick pick off before), so even if on paper zarya beat dva, the map will still favor some heroes more than other.
It's the same thing with tiers lists, it's not because on paper something should be stronger or weaker that it's obviously gonna be like that for every games. You need to take into account the map, your own team composition and the rest of the enemy team. Not just the enemy tank.
open queue comp is actually hella fun an surprisingly chill at lower ranks.

the hardest thing in hitting t500 open q is playing enough games. Me and my friend hit masters (we're both high masters on supports) and we get 30+ min queue times doing god knows what in customs. And when we invite more people, it gets worse. We could be top 300. We won't be, because we can't find a game lol. It is pretty fun, though.
I think Venture will become good over time as players learn to play them. Like how tank Doom became good after people said he was terrible at the start of OW2.

This is actually the thing in paladins and it kinda sucks ass. And that game doesnt have immediate hard counters like ow so i dont think its a good idea
imagine having a comp with that mode like rein, sym and idk venture for example (just any combination of heroes that arent hitscan nor do well at long ranges) and you go against a pharmercy combo, might as well just press the imaginary surrender button lol
@alexknight81 I mean that's kinda the point. Part if the gamble and part of the thinking when making your team. The additional experience rewarded would be for that reason. It's harder. You HAVE to figure out the work around. Adapt and such

Counterswapping is high value compared to having to play like 3 times better to beat what's countering you
If tanks have one point of failure then the fix would then be 6v6, but then the balancing of the game would go completely insane and queue times go through the roof. Maybe it’s a situation where the hole is dug so deep there’s no real way out of it. Idk but I feel like people just need to feel tanks are fun to play and that wasn’t and isn’t the case in both ow1 and ow2 so maybe a fundamental change to completely change how they play so more people feel like tank is a fun role to play.
People pick to pick on the tank player because it’s easy. There’s no other characters that are that big and easy to hit so it’s just like go for it.
Played tank all day yesterday, I can understand the complaints with it. You either can do alright, or you get absolutely rolled in 3 seconds

At this point it feels Blizzard would be better off removing Tank as a role entirely rather than shifting the meta from Horse > Pig > Horse > Pig every few patches and making all the other tanks suffer
I had a game last night when i was doing good on doom but after the first point on new junk they swapped to Hog,Cass,Sombra,Ana, and Zen. The Sombra just stayed with the supports and completely shut me down.
My fave part about ow is getting called bad by worse players😂
Open queue is probably peak Overwatch tbh. Off-tanking is viable and not overly oppressive due to reduced tank HP pools.
1 support, 4 tanks? Send it. It gets so far away from the irritations that you're locked into experiencing on role queue.
Top Open queue right now its like 3-4 tanks and then a moira or bap. Sometimes you get a 2nd support or dps thrown in but overall fun.

On the Rein v Sigma discussion, I have been saying for a while that Rein can play well into Sigma (map dependent).
But as of how the new patch affected this, Rein is just categorically worse in the matchup. Neither hit headshots so that doesn't change, but the armor change allows Simga to burst Rein faster, whilst not suffering from the armor changes. Everything from Hyperspheres, to Accretion, to even Quick Melee does more damage into armor (any damage instance of 19 or higher now does additional damage into armor).
For being an underground based hero, its so funny that Venture has so much mobility techs
Atp pretty much all of the heroes abilities and some weapons are just funny because almost all of it is pure fiction to begin with.

They nerfed venture cause it isn’t fun to get drill combo‘d and die instantly with no way to fight back
And then they keep widows one shot from across the map in a position that you can't reach and she can just grapple away for free so same one shot with half the risk and far easier to do multiple times. At least ventures one shot is largely a one time thing before she has to disengage.
Venture was fine, her alt might have been overturned and maybe her damage to tanks but her one shot was fine.
If they should change anything about Venture, it's that the ult should be nerfed a little in damage (to something like 110?) but have an additional charge, and the passive should work more like Doomfist where you actually have to hit people with your abilities (the ult can be included) to build up shields. There's already a decent duration invincibility ability and a very fast vertical dash, they shouldn't just give free shields to make running away that much easier.
Open queue is fun. Tank main. Fun.

My team was Life weaver Ana and i think Solider and Cass .. we got rolled the first fights since I just exploded.. I insta swapped to Zarya and only died twice after that
I mean I definitely get why people full counter the tank. They’re super tanks in OW2 and if you can quickly eliminate the enemy tank or help your tank take space so they can pop off, then that dps probably won’t be getting the value they have been. Just kinda a format issue imo

I've run into a GM Open Queue tank, but in role queue was like silver. The dude kept insisting he was a GM tank player while the entire lobby roasted his ass.
Never understood why people think the q time would be long for tank, I personally feel like it would reduce it since those who don’t play tank would want to play it since it the team won’t solely blame them. Thats just my headcannon

The amount of times I’m countered and focused as Hanzo McCassidy and Junkrat are an ungodly amount but maybe that’s just my personal experience. The tanks only rrrally countered by the tank (in my experiences)

Support is the only decent role. I remember a couple games i had that me and the other support had more damage than most the dps and tank. We still won because we can do dmg better AND heal

One tank? everyone seems to know what to do to ruin your day even if your not carrying.
But few try to counter the dps or supports that are truly trying to ruin your games.

@@pepekovallin As a tank main if any high mobility DPS is getting value and eating my team for free because no one will deal with them I do tend to swap to try to put pressure on that player. Same with Widow and Bastion. Its shocking how often people see or hear them use ult or tank form and still proceed to fully walk out into the middle of the map with zero cover.

thing is, after I stopped playing tank for the longest time, widow became my new tank.
I'm going 0 - 5 on widow. I get one kill and BOOM winston, sombra, genji, lucio, etc.
I am GARBAGE as widow but in low elo, people know how to counter widow, they know how to counter d.va, zarya, etc.
Low elo is just counterswap hell cause no one knows how to play the game. I'm just stubborn so I dont do it even if it would get me kills.

someone said that in lower ranks the queue time isnt so bad, but me and my gf are gold 1 and bronze 3 or something we need to wait 30 minutes for a game :/ (havent tried for a week or two because of that reason so it might be fixed now idk) i myself see gold and bronze as lower ranks so i dont think i misunderstood anything

I don't understand the argument of "Queue times would be bad" if 6v6 returned cause if it returned and tank was made more enjoyable to play wouldn't that mitigate the brunt of the queue times? Like sure they might be slightly longer but I personally can't see it being by that much

Maybe it’s just me but even at my rank in high diamond I still think Venture is pretty strong.
We should honestly just get rid of hero swapping in general(or maybe just in ranked). A lot of people might disagree because "it's an integral part of Overwatch" but it doesn't have to be, right? Removing hero swapping would make people think about map picks and team comp more often and completely rid counter-swapping. Imo this would solve a lot of problems AND raise the competitive aspect of the game.

Not enough tank players so 6v6 will be long queues, nobody likes playing tank. Hey, it doesn't make sense. Nobody likes playing Hog, Orisa, Sigma is boring too. So now if we go to 6v6 and everyone will be able to play Junker queen, Rein, Doomfist, Ramattra, tank population will grow. Right now I don't feel like its growing and I don't believe it will ever in 5v5. Also DPS players don't like playing against these giga tanks
