Yeah I have to agree with some of the other comments. This wasn't a particularly good video to choose, though you couldn't have known! There's usually much, much more context given to these fights, the fighting styles, etc. Most of them are pretty goofy and cartoonish, but there are some really good fights in this show that this video didn't cover that you'd probably like more.
@@Devin14747kengan ashura is arguably the best martial arts anime, just because cgi isnt to your liking doesnt make it bad. baki is hardly martial arts, its just guys punching/kicking ridiculously hard.
fun fact about kengan, the author actually choreographs most of the moves in real life. So even though they are extremely exaggerated and unrealistic, they still have a realistic grounding to them that makes em feel more believable (this is especially obvious in any of Kanoh Agitos fights)
Actually you managed to choose all the ones that were the less realistic. The best one for you would probably have been Agito Kanoh vs Ohkubo Naoya fight.(rated A- by scenic fight).
Or this anime sucks naruto does hand to hand fighting better and it's a ninja anime baki has the same crappy animation but the fights aren't as drawn out and stupid
For a bit of context, I’ll mention each fighter’s fighting style 10) Nikaido, guy with the messed up shoulder, does a fictional style of Kung Fu called Heavenly Wolf Style, and the guy with the long hair, Kiryu, does a completely fictional style called Koei Style where he mainly attacks when his opponent blinks and twists their skin, hence the weird injuries on Nikaido. 9) Akoya, gi guy, does Taihojutsu, or Japanese police martial arts, and the big guy Haruo is just built different. 8) Bando is a freak that can extend his arms like whips and the doctor guy does Chin Na, a Kung Fu pressure points system, and has modified his body via surgery (they both lived). 7) Purple guy is Raian, who knows some ultimate mixed martial art style but just uses brute force by unlocking all of his latent physical power (purple skin) and the other guy with the cross necklace does Baritsu, the martial art Sherlock Holmes does based on real life Bartitsu, which combines bare knuckle boxing, Japanese Jujutsu, and traditional Japanese martial arts. 6)White hair, Himuro, does JKD and black hair, Kaneda, does traditional Japanese Jujutsu, specifically a fictional style of old Japanese Jujutsu called Kujin Style. Hope this helped to clarify some of their movements and choices, good catch with Nikaido and his Kung Fu at the start!
@RedFoxGrappler I hated the manga as soon as they had Raian win via "neck break". Granted it's fictional and the other guy accepted the fight, but it still seemed too much. Most thought he was dead after that and then only two episodes later it's revealed he's not dead.
Bando never used any sort of martial arts. Matter of fact, he never got into a real fight that didnt involve killing that lasted for more than 10 seconds so that explains why he was just swinging haymakers and getting countered every time
Well no wonder you can't comprehend it, you're watching a top ten video with no context to anything. The video also kept cutting important bits to the fight, which would make it harder to understand. PS: Would recommend "Nhattylite Media's Kengan Ashura review," it would help clear up some things about the story and the fights.
Seth hit it on the head when he said he was rooting for the bigger guy. That is a really cool thing about Kengan Ashura, you don't really know who is going to win each match.
Yess! Thank you 🙏😇 really appreciate this one. But really, try to find the fights with Kanoh Agito, almost all his fights are very technical and his opponents are specialists of different styles( he fights with Ohkubo and Gaolang, an MMA specialist and a Boxing-Muay Thai specialist).
4:20 iirc SPOILERS: during his fights, and outside of them as well, this character was receiving instructions and callouts from his partner in the audience, and rather than reacting to things, he was just responding to what she told him to do through a hidden ear piece. This is why he reacted the way that he did.
Just got context for Seth to understand the fight more bc I understand it’s confusing if you just watch these clips 1st fight. The guy with the long hair. He practice an art that has two techniques. One is blink. So when he was disappearing he wasn’t really disappearing. What blink does is to take advantage of your opponents natural function, which is to blink. So when you blink you’re leaving a blind spot for your opponent to move closer to you, and making you unaware of what’s happening for that split milla second. 2nd fight. The spiked hair dudes didn’t attack the dude while his back was on the ground. But do to the the amount of blows he previously used against the big guy to his knee especially, weakened over time. Plus the big guy weighted about 400 pounds so that slot of weight on his knees. 3rd fight. The one buff dude is an extremely flexible death row inmate. And the other dude is a doctor and we all know doctors, who are also fighters in anime are op as hell. But he modified his body to do stuff like Seth saw. 4th fight. The white hair dude is actually an assassin. And his blood line Or basically his whole freaking family are assassins. Their clan are specifically known for their selective breading bc when you saw his skin color turn purple was actually a blood line ability or basically their human evolution. They do have their own martial arts but the white hair dude, who’s the most physically the strongest in his clan, refuses to use them bc he has a donation kink. The guy with the chain used to martial arts and they’re mixed together to make his unique martial art which is jujitsu, and British boxing. And all you need to know is that he’s a Christian so he has a god that so don’ t worry about him not going to heaven, and 2 elana is his little sister, who’s watching him. 5th fight- the one in green can learn and read his opponent’s move, but he’s also the most physically the weakest fighter in the kengan games. The guy in the white is a jkd user, and he’s defending his spot to fight in the kengan match’s before they start.
The "What do I do against the all muscle guy?" question. Anywhere that a joint connects. Knees. Elbows. Armpits. Groin. Ankles. Wrists. Etc. Elbows and Armpits are the most unexpected and easiest to get to / hit for my money.
I watched this anime because as a child of the 80s I'm bound by law to watch media about undeground fighting tournaments; however, I was very surprised when there were the moments of legit fighting. Yes, it does have all the anime fight tropes, but it's a seasoning to some very cool, actual fight coreographies.
I love the reactions to this, and it's definitely given me another anime to watch...so now I'll just be 'that guy' and ask if you could ever do Hajime no Ippo as well. It's pure boxing and while the animations are obviously exaggerated, it's a fairly realistic series on the whole. I'd love to see your take on it.
6:54 Akoya(the triangle head man) has been spamming low kicks to the same spot and also Haruo(the fat guy) is very heavy so naturally his legs finally gave up
yea you're missing a lot of context and a lot of the explanation of the techniques and to answer your question at 14:45 the martial art is jeet kune do which the video cut out of the fight

You somehow found all the gimmick fights lol, was this a curated list or just random picks? It would actually be astonishing if this was random picks, the odds are insane. There's much more realism than this, I assure you.
You had the most obscure collection of fights from this anime... There are a lot of good fighting scenes directed by great martial artists However there is a fair-share of shit and magic
I was expecting Saw Paing vs Fisherman, Gaolon vs Kaneda, and Cosmo vs Akoya. Welp, Hajime no Ippo is next if you want a realistic fight. Just a heads up, you will see a lot of characters with qualities that are based off real life boxers.
A lot of lost context in these fights, like in the second fight, the close up on his ear is because he's receveing intel from a hidden earphone... but without knowing that it's just a weird close. And the big guy fell because of the acumulated damage to the left leg, and that was really well telegraphed during the fight
noooo he finally does it but not the exact way that I wanted nooooo No but for real some of the other fights are better, I probably don't need to say that, you're probably already on it, but I thought I'd boost engagement. Edit: see I'm stupid I don't even watch to the end of the video, I bet all the good fights will be next because it's a top ten list.
I think Sensei Seth should watch Gigguk's top anime fight scenes videos or at least clips from When Spike Spiegel does hand to hand combat from Cowboy Bebop
