2009-2011 I was stationed at Ft. Lewis WA.(JBLM) going through medical retirement. I would help my platoon NCOIC with counseling soldiers with what steps on securing SSD starting 6 months post injury to present and unfortunately at least 70% of soldiers under the age of 25 years old opted not to pursue reapplying for SSD because they didn't want to be turned down again. From personal experience I was turned down 4 times and our battalion had 2 Social Security reps in our S1 (admin) that gave out a list of local attorneys that would represent you in front of the SSD judge. After 10 working days my attorney called me and advised me that my SSD Claim was approved and the judge read the extent of mine and approved it without question. Yeah I'm pretty jacked up 👨🏾🦼💨 And my back pay award was $16,400.00 after 15% attorney fee. I was very happy knowing 10 minutes filling out paperwork, 4 stamps and a little patience netted me back pay plus $1470.00 a month for as long as I live or zombie apocalypse 😅 monies I was entitled to because of military service and injuries sustained. I was able to convince a couple older soldiers one of which had closed his business as a general contractor due to multiple deployments. His back pay was $161,000.00. He thanked me with a church's chicken meal and promise to continue spreading the word. If you like money and can wait up to a month to be awarded what you fought for 🇺🇲 and are under medical care from injuries sustained during your time in service just do what I did file, retain attorney after 3rd or 4th denial letter and wait. To Easy!!! Had a 1SG that used to end the day at last formation with... "It's you and only you that will secure your future, step up get it done!"
Also, if the Veteran has access to Tricare then the Dependents must use Tricare. Small monthly cost vs other routes, but still a cost for military retirees.
Wrong. The veteran also can use it. A Veteran who’s the qualifying CHAMPVA sponsor for their family may also qualify for the VA health care program based on their own Veteran status. If 2 spouses are both Veterans who qualify as CHAMPVA sponsors for their family, they both may now qualify for CHAMPVA benefits. Each time they need medical care, they may choose to get care through the VA health care program or using their CHAMPVA coverage.
VA HEALTHCARE, YOURE FUNNY! DO YOU REALLY TRUST VA HEALTHCARE? YOU HAVE ISSUE ON YOU RIGHT KNEE THEY WILL INJECT ANF FIX YOUR LEFT KNEE. I WILL BE SCARED GOING TO THOSE KIND OF HOSPITAL. I currently receive $7,952 a month in 100% P&T SMC and SSDI with my wife and children. They are all on Champva. I receive 96k tax free a year which is equivalent to someone making 150k a year. Add the Champva Medical at estimated 1500+ a month for my wife and kids it closer to making 170k+ a year. Retired for life at the age of 32. But it wasnt free. This was 46 months of deployment time, almost 4 years deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan and intensive ongoing training, jumping out of planes and so much more. But very grateful 🙏
What is frustrating as hell is trying to get that SSDI. You would think since your rated 100 percent P&T you would get SSDI but they still deny many veterans, myself included.

@blackhawkbryan Can you please explain how I scammed the system? Sounds like you are bitter about something? I am a financial professional, so I think I'm uniquely qualified to analyze what benefit I received from the information. @Imafed42069 why we got the f××k out of CA. It bleeds you dry of everything; Finances, humanity, decency. Been 3 years now and have gotten up to 150k year with a new ppsition, add the wife's 75k and we are absolutely liberated.
I have been telling people for years, even when I was on active duty; stop looking at just what is deposited into your account each 1st and 15h (for for VA benefits each 1st of the month), look at your benefits in terms of healthcare, education, travel expenses; TSP. By the time I add up all of my benefits (100% disability plus Post 9/11 GI Bill) I make the equivalent of 110K in Nashville TN. There are virtually no private sector jobs here that pay anywhere near that amount. I am living very well. There are a lot of civilians that wish they had half of what I have.
@VanquishMediaDE you're gonna have to explain that in depth. Also.. free health care benefits and education benefits don't translate to income or money in pocket like this guy is saying, so if you have anything to add, I'd sincerely love to hear it as I'm also 100% p/t.

Saving by not paying property tax and/or health insurance premiums does not increase the monthly compensation amount. It simply means it doesn't deduct from your monthly compensation amount.
There's this saying "a penny saved is a penny earned." Basically, the guy in the video is saying that if you aren't paying for healthcare (because you can get if for free with disability) then you are technically making that much a month because you normally would spend that money on healthcare. He's emphasizing the importance to utilize all the disability benefits because there is a lot of money you can save, or "make", besides the base disability amount
@@nathanmoxley616totally understand that but he makes it out saying you are adding it to the $4100 mo not saving it - $4100 + $660tax + $1660 ins still equals $4100 - not $6k - you save it not increase your monthly pay 😂- math

It got me thinking about how easy it is to focus on cash payments but overlook all the other benefits available to us. I'm truly grateful for the support I receive from the VA, even though I sometimes wish they could improve the claims processing. It’s a reminder to appreciate what we have while pushing for better services
Hey, seems like a good video. at the 2 and a half minute mark you say that "you can get champ VA not only for you, but for your family" does that mean that I'm not stuck at the VA and that I could be using champ VA? I did not think that was the case. I hate going to the VA hospital and would love to use champ VA but I did not know that I was able to until you said that. Or is there a chance that maybe you got that part wrong? Please let me know. Thanks.

Thanks for the comparisons, pretty eye opening. I'm one of your Grand Master clients and you touched on something in this video that I've been trying to find - CHAMPVA with 100% VA. I haven't found solid answers on what exactly it is, or how to enroll myself & spouse. I've read it's only a supplemental insurance, but haven't found anyone who's done a deep dive into it yet. Have you thought of diving into this benefit to dig out more details for your current (and future) 100% clients?
CHAMPVA is strictly for dependents. I misunderstood it initially and thought it was for myself as well. If you file, include all the requested (but not "required") documents on the VA site. Turn around time is 30-45 days vs. months if the VA has to track down all the paperwork themselves. I just this past few weeks got all my approval paperwork, their CHAMPVA ID cards, and pharmacy ID cards. Dental, from what I understand, costs monthly and you have a choice between two providers. I'm thankful to have it cause I just got laid off from my job.
A number of veterans retire in Panama with a low cost of living and a USD economy. Panama consistently ranks in the top three for international retirement destinations.
I forgot all about that place. The Air Force had an active duty base there for years. I’ve never heard of a single person that didn’t like it there, even those that didn’t like heat and humidity.
Man, well said! Ive always kind of known this subconsciously. Never hace i heard this type of break down for VA benefits. Wait a sec... as a recruiter, that is pretty much how I would describe and compare living off of a military wage to living off of a civilian job wage. Makes sense. This is a very helpful video.
I’m thankful for VA disability but as a TDIU vet with a family, this income is not enough. Everything is so expensive now and a 100k salary is not as uncommon as it was 10-20 years ago. To give y’all perspective, Domino’s pizza drivers (Texas) earn ~$25 per hr. I also have 21 yr old relative who drives a dump truck and earns min $1500 per week net with nothing more than a HS diploma and CDL. If you’re 100% disabled and on TDIU, you can’t work and if you do you better be prepared to be reduced. It’s a messed up situation
If anyone asks for any kind of payment to help you with gaining your VA benefit's, avoid them! There are many great Veterans associations who will be more than happy to assist you for no cost! The VFW was my go to, I had a prior service JAG officer assigned to me and he assisted me at no cost! Never pay for help, no matter what their sales pitch is!!

I’ve done a great job avoiding doctors since I separated in 2006. Rather, I’ve seen naturopathic doctors, learned meditation and yoga, experimented with cannabis, even gone to the extreme of ayahuasca ceremonies. These have helped tremendously with things I’m dealing with. However, I understand this might not help with my VA claim given I have avoided going to doctors and not ‘adding evidence’ to support my claim with the VA. Truth be told, if you’re a veteran not drawing 100% that’s not a retiree and/or gainfully employed, disability is just enough to live at the minimum if you’re 70-90%. Anything less than that is just groceries or rent. 100% is a hard goal to reach unless you’re missing limbs, got a life-threatening disease in service, have serious psychological issues, or being rated for multiple things with at least 50-70% for several things.
@@raywest6943 I don’t even see how it’s possible. I have two 50% ratings, two 30% ratings, four 10% ratings and I’m still at 90%! Actually 92% rounded down.
Beautiful way to close the video. I have so many friends say I'm ok with my 90% or below because I don't want to be greedy. Bullshit. You earned that. However I stated that I am still feeling the same symptoms that was noted on my Va award claim “limited motion of the ankle”. I went to the VA for this MRI. I also told the Va doctor about the limited motion of my ankle. Do you think they may possibly decrease my rating because of this? Thank you!

Great and solid content, as always. I recently got my T&P. Other things that are of value is CH35 for my daughter's college stipend, savings with taking Space A, car registration exemption, dental care, etc.
Fact…if you are making $100K-401K contributions, health insurance and taxes you are making around $4K-$5K monthly. Now, VA disability has topped $4K monthly.
Another benefit that no one mentions in any video is that you dont need a conceal carry class to get your CCP you just need to take your DD-214 to your local courthouse and fill out some paperwork
Champ VA is offered as a secondary insurance that will supplement a primary. How are you getting it as a primary benefit insurance to absorb the entire costs?

Watch they make this a rule somewhere in the far future i give it 20-40yrs from now where this become a thing for veterans while millennials like me have to KILL THEMSELVES to earn it just like they did the school systems and made school easier for all the generations after millennials while we had to struggle. They already making the military easier for all the generations after millennials by making the drill sergeants kiss their boo boos when new recruits are going through basic training and that's no way to get tough if your emotions don't make you prove the drill sergeants wrong

I agree with most of this video. I think the CHAMP VA inclusion is kind of a stretch. You can only get that if you dont qualify for Tricare, and at 100 P&T are likely to qualify. Is there even a way not to qualify? You would be better to include veteran dental coverage which isnt well advertised and the vet might not even be aware of. This has already save me tens of thousands of dollars with multiple crowns and implants to fix all of the subpar dental care i received on active duty.
@@tanyadavila7551 as a Vet rated 100% you automatically get VA dental included in your care. In other situations, you can also get reduced cost dental coverage. Learn more here about that: www.va.gov/health-care/about-va-health-benefits/dental-care/dental-insurance/

Perhaps you can help me get the VA to actually look at my compensation correction. In a nut shell, my daughter (who was already listed as my dependent) turned 18 last September.r. The VA immediately stopped paying the extra money compensation as a dependent. However, she's still in High School. I actually submitted the form stating this fact back in August to restart my payment and pay the backpay from her birthday month. Yet, it's been 5 months now and the VA has yet to do anything with my claim. I'm so tired of how inefficient this gov agency is. It should not take this long for my dependent payment to restart. Of course, I will have to repeat this process in the fall when she starts college. How long is it gonna take for the VA to even look at this too? Another year? How about some answers and help for this?
@cobrabtc I had a similar situation but did try to ensure VA had paperwork early (yet, it didn’t help)….anyway daughter turned 18 last August of 2023. In June I sent them paperwork of her enrolling in college (she was technically done with school after first semester but didn’t officially graduate til June) and claim was finally approved in January of this year with back pay. Hang in there.

Here in California 100% P & T (not 100% rated, you need the P & T) Vets get a partial property tax exemption. Also on your one vehicle only, we pay zero DMV reg fees (which here in California is a LOT. E.g., on a $25,000 Toyota, $350 yearly), and if you buy a vehicle you pay zero DMV fees or sales tax.
It's not 100% they currently only take about 162k off the assessed value of your house. Next year the california legislator are voting to approve a properry tax exemption to 863k
I still dont get how we would make a six figure pay with the tax exempt and health insurance benefits. We will still be making the $4100 a month from VA for 100% dissability rating. We will just be saving on not having to pay property taxes and health insurance but that doesnt mean we make that money on pay in addition to our va disability pay to make it a six figure pay a year. Or am i missing something ???

This is what we get from your doctors. No problem at all, I completely understand, sir. Thanks so much for reaching out! I definitely want to work with you on this. Currently, I do have a wait list. I apologize for this delay, but could I reach back out to you in about 2 months? I have been trying to catch up to the volume/demand which has been high recently. I absolutely do want to work with you though. If the wait is okay, let me know and I’ll add you to my list. In the meantime, I would recommend doing an "Intent to File" with the VA which will be helpful to backdate any approved diagnoses. Again, sorry for the waitlist. Thanks again. Best, Doc If you want some better options, you can use the docs I used on my last claim. They were ALWAYS available.

The veteran also has to be rated as Permanent and Total (P&T).

By the time I add up all of my benefits (100% disability plus Post 9/11 GI Bill) I make the equivalent of 110K in Nashville TN.

It’s a reminder to appreciate what we have while pushing for better services
Hey, seems like a good video. at the 2 and a half minute mark you say that "you can get champ VA not only for you, but for your family" does that mean that I'm not stuck at the VA and that I could be using champ VA? You have to fill out a va form 10-10d and fax it over to the VA so your dependents can get va health benefits as well.
ChampVA can only be used by dependents and the veteran must have be Total & Permanent (P&T).
I get gas discounts from my grocery store. Can I add that to what the VA pays me?

I’m thankful for VA disability but as a TDIU vet with a family, this income is not enough. Everything is so expensive now and a 100k salary is not as uncommon as it was 10-20 years ago. I’m sure the examiner will ask why the large gap.
I can get buddy letters. I’ve considered getting a medical marijuana card that might help too. Switzerland has made most of these things legal and has successfully treated PTSD. I’m sure I can get medical evidence to support my claim.

I agree with most of this video. I think the CHAMP VA inclusion is kind of a stretch. You can only get that if you dont qualify for Tricare, and at 100 P&T are likely to qualify. Good content and thanks for sharing. However, please correct the American flag in your backdrop. The field of stars should always be in the upper left corner. Thanks again.
What kind of a watch is that?
Great information to get out there!
Sorry to say but that ain’t happening in Puerto Rico I just came back from a week trip there 2 weeks ago and it’s really expensive there.
you are AWESOME thanx
Best,
Doc
If you want some better options, you can use the docs I used on my last claim. They were ALWAYS available.
not paying property tax is not money in your pocket...its just not money out of your pocket. Same with the CHAMP. You are just not spending that money out of your VA check. You still only the same 4k a month.
Yea but what he’s saying - is you get the benefit for a $100,000 job, without needing a $100,000 job at all.
I filed last year for my home but they won't let it start until 2025 how is that even legal
Really? Maybe they will give you a refund for past paid taxes after your effective date. I think I remember getting one
Champ is for dependents only.
