    Champva is not for military retirees. It is for dependents of 100 percent permanent and total veterans who are not eligible for Tricare.

      Correct, this video is for ALL Military Retirees and their families. It explains how CHAMPVA and Medicare can work together. Whether someone qualifies for CHAMPVA or Tricare for Life... it will act the same when someone is on Medicare.

    Thankyou for your help in explaining it to me. I had already decided on just going with medicare and my wifes champ va. This decision was made when my wifes physical therapist company is owned by Humana but if my wife had Humana instead of champ va the company would not have treated my wife. Thats pretty bad when the therapist not reccommend their own company Humana. So if my wife went with some plan just for the dental and vision then she might be giving up her choice in doctors for her care.

    • @medicarejoe
      @medicarejoe  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the reply... Humana is only 1 carrier... there are several with different networks. I recommend checking because there could be one that is better. The idea of dental and vision is great, but the true value is the part B giveback they can provide to folks. Completely understand the logic for your decision.

    I have Champva , but I'm a few years off from 65. I am curious about something I read about Champva only paying 75%. With Medicare, would I still have to pay 25%? It is all so confusing to me. Thanks for clearing up the part D (prescription drugs) for me. I was wondering whether I would need that part. Also, you didn't mention part G or medigap. Would I not need it?

    • @medicarejoe
      @medicarejoe  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you have CHAMPVA, that essentially is working as your Medigap plan. You would not need to purchase a Plan G.

      I have been looking at plans for my wife when she reaches 65. Medicare Joe explains everything so easily. If you presently have ChampVa and you reach 65 then Medicare pays the first 80 percent and if needed then Champ Va covers the leftover 20 percent. This way you dont have to worry about any other plans offered since Champ Va covers your prescriptions. Just about every doctor accepts medicare but some plans like Humana has their own list of doctors that you must use. My wife earlier this year required physical therapist weekly for three months and since she isnt 65 yet Champ Va paid the entire bill. But according to the therapist company if we had Humana as a plan that the therapist's company would not have accepted my wife as a patient. And come to find out my wifes therapist company is owned by Humana and they would not have accepted my wife as a patient. So since my wife gets her meds thru Champ Va's meds by mail we will only go with Medicare and not add one of the plans. All the plans have their own list of doctors that you must use, but having just medicare, I cant find any doctor that doesnt accept medicare. So if you go with another plan just for the dental and optical care you will have to use their list of doctors.

      @@medicarejoe I tried to use that nexus service but they wanted several thousand that I don't have. I have many minor and serious medical conditions all legitimately from my time in service but can't afford to "prove" it. I think they know but have been lying to me I suspect, and withholding major info from, which they play down whenever I find things. All the attorneys want me to first be denied before they will help saying it's the law? So I submitted 3 of 4 major claims one without a nexus but it's completely legit but they will try and deny it. My question is this.
      Should I submit my toxic substances claim so it will be denied so I can get an attorney to help with it? I have a nexus I believe. This toxic case will probably greatly shorten my life as I already have serious issues manifesting which they are denying?

How should I proceed once I reach age 65? Currently I use both systems for health care and medication. VA is free and if I want a second opinion I use Tricare. Please advise.

    Okay so my situation is that my wife was on champva but when she turned 65 champva dropped her because social security office said she wasn’t eligible for Medicare or social security benefits so she applied under my social security benefits and was denied because the social security office told her they didn’t have our marriage certificate on file so I am wanting to know that once she gets the social security benefits and Medicare benefits will she be able to get back into the champva

      The champva eligibility is a better question for them. They handle you can qualify for that program and who cannot. If she had It before I don’t see any reason why she can’t while she turns 65 though.
