Great job .

Excellent ❤ Well done. You don't need fancy. You need sturdiness, toughness, dependability, and functionality to your type of woodworking. If you want pretty...paint it.😅
I made mine out of treated woods. Its on my carport. Been there for 13 years. Still holding strong. No fancy nothing. It works and it does the job.
Looks great
The miraculous part is you found 2x material that mated nicely together.
Just did something similar. You speak the truth. I probably sanded and planed 1/3 of all the end material away just trying get something that resembled straight.
This looks great!
I built a laminated 2x4 top bench as my first cheap one too. 78" x18" and added a tool well 5" wide later. Took about 4 hours with a 5-1/2 to get it flat/level. 8 yrs later it is still my primary bench. Will probably be here long after I'm gone. Low cost doesn't have to mean "bad".
You sawed through a thick wooden beam with a back saw so easily! When I sawed a wooden beam it was jagged and chipped.
“Lag screw alternative things” made me hit subscribe haha
The dumps-per-bag ratio problem is tough one to live with! 😂
Stuff one pocket with bags, or take your dog to a place where you don't have to pick up. Those screws are sold by the each, and you could pound nails just as fast, using the proper nailing technique.
I don't take bags because I live in the country, but all my dogs have only ever had one dump per walk. Unless they've been sick. Maybe it's a breed thing. Mine have all been Labradors.
@Dildosoup
*Actually, the multiple dumps could be the food. The more "filler" ,the more passes through . . . .

Damn now I kinda wana make one
Bet it twists.
GRK'S my boy. The wonder screw
I was actually wondering what kind of screws they were thank you!
I’m mounting my first set of cabinets in my kitchen what screws and size would your recommend to a new woodworker.
Wu Tang Forever!
I doubt that he did this in 60s.
weight equal stability . YOULL learn while your using your hand planes & the wqhole dam bench moves with each pass
how did you join the pieces?
Nice. Where can I get that vise?
Did you use glue and screws to hold the 2x4s together?
GRK lag lumber screw star bit 30
You are so right. Get some good lumber and have some good handsaws and chisels, but a power drill makes life easy.
where i can buy this drill?
I just cant get behind the structural lag bolts.... Its gotta have mortis and tenons
Damn you fancy man!! Lol
What vise did you go with? I'm looking for a good one for my bench.
How much did it cost you?
Seems over built, how much does it weigh?
Leveling and making sure it’s flat is the real challenge
I'll never take advice from anyone wearing sandals
Buy a Acrylic squeegee for glue spreading works better than anything u can buy also works GREAT on liquid nail. Btw if u dont have liquid nail in ur woodshop ur really missing a very important tool.
I got three of those in my pocket. Good screwbs.
OMG actual hand tools. 😆
If you don't put cross beams at an angle it is will eventually rack. It will rack.
What type of screws are they? Where u get them?
Minimoff8 they are GRK screws and you can get them at the box stores, Lowes, HD, and possibly orher places. They are just one of several different types of screws. Stumpy Nubs YT channel did a video about different types of screws and pros and cons of each. If you drill pilot holes then more options
I like those shop sandals!! Are those safety toe shop sandals!!!???😂😂
Yes sir! Certified safety sandals! Haha
Great job
Tung oil .. absolutely an underutilized finish. And it's my favorite
💯
What about nut oil?
Impregnable finish with that stuff 💯 %🤣🫡
Whatever he used in the video was not real tung oil.
@@scotts5055 was it Nut oil?
😂 where can I find some nut oil is at your local mom and pops or just moms den or what? @@forfuxakes6814
Pine! Lol.
Looks like a paul sellers special
How do I get the plans to this project
Those screws are commonly labeled "SPAX bolts"
Gluing all the joints makes a tremendous difference in the rigidity
13 yrs we had our Black Lab and not ONCE would she take a dump when we took her for a walk her Kennel name was Princess of the Court Board , we think she took her name too seriously and behaved like a true Princess 🤣🤣🤣👀👍
It doesn’t have to be made from expensive materials pal it only has to work and be a workhorse , can’t fault it to be honest it will work for many yrs to come 👍👍
I feel that I must point out that this is absolutely a bragging rights work bench. It hits every mark. Functional, good looking, simple in its design, elegant.
Well thanks man
Looks very nice but did you get the top completely flat? That would be my concern. I need a really flat top for glue ups.
Would an electric woodplaner work for this type of structure, or do you recommend manual?
An electric would work, and probably get the rounds out quicker, but be careful, they can get you out of flat very easily if you’re not paying attention.
Could be an idea to electric most of it, then finish it by hand
@@adambrinded70 thanks bro, this was really helpful advice, I appreciate it.
Nicely done Dude!
I want one. I want an honest NEED for one
Good start keep practicing
Go buy Benchcraft’s bench for $7900 USD
How’d you glue up the benchtop with trestles and a handsaw?
you used your credit card to spread the glue? OMG
What tung oil do you use? It looked darker than what I'm used to.
Excellent work. This is what a workbench should remain.
I want to buy your plans but can’t find them
Using hand saws and power drills is crazy lol but so is practice
i love chonky table tops
Where's the planing stop?
The dog holes, most likely
I question the dog dumps per bag thing unless you are just not bringing any with you.
You must have taken inspiration from MoistCritical. Nice bench! God Bless you!
Exactly one more dump that the bags you brought had me rolling on the floor laughing!!!!
Careful where you're rolling......
So simple, just untie the bag, from the outside, grab the bottom of the bag, slide the bag back over your wrist, push the contents on top of the last pile, then grasp the entire contents of the pile, and again withdraw your hand from the bag holding ALL THE POOPS, and wahlah, all poops contained INSIDE THAT BAD BOY!!!
I made a work bench once with some scrap wood found from various allys while drunk, and somehow it ended up being level
I have enough vices
Yes, it is a bad boy! Yes you have permission from mommy to call it a bad boy!
I need to build a bench. Would love a full video!
Did you start bro? It took me a while to finish my first bench
I love those screws.
My cousin tried this once... his work bench didn't work😅
Hi I just made a work bench with some tools and some berginstoc s😅😅
You did not need Grks for that 3in deck screws would’ve been more than fine💀💀💀
After I discovered the Japanese pull saw all my push saws hang on the wall for years now.
I can cut off 1/16 off of a 2 by 4 with them.
For anyone wondering those are grk screws
Only thing I would have done differently is add glue to everything not just the butcher block top. I just threw away my first bench I ever built and I really like the way he did this. I think I’m going to do the same. I don’t wood work I just need a better bench for my garage because I tinker with automotive stuff. I really need to make shelves that link my steel shelves together.
🙌🏽👏🏽🙌🏽👏🏽🙌🏽👏🏽
Man, I'm planning another bench....this clip has raised my anxiety! 😂😂😂😂
Structural lag screw alternative things. That will forever be what i call them. 😂😂
Look up Paul Sellers. Thats your workbench
Nice to see this.
Power tools make things easy easier but this of how it was done for centuries and lots of those pieces will outlast the things turned out with all those fancy tools from quarter million dollar shops.
I made one very similar to this. It is 4ft by 8ft. The top is extremely heavy, it has a side vice and an end vice, and dog holes.
I did the same thing. 4' x 8' x 2.5", end and side vise, and dog holes. Plus it doubles as the outfeed table for my table saw. If you have the room, why not?
How do you talk in slow motion... ?
I would do it liiiiiiiiike thiiiiiiiiss
I feel like a workbench that you made is almost much more of a bragging lights workbench than just some expensive shyt somebody bought it because it shows one that you know good craftsmanship and two that your resourceful
I wouldve surfaced and planed it better
Those are called timber locks
A work of beauty bud👍🏻
Hoo boy, do I know the feel of that #ofBags + 1 scenario.
These days I just take a whole damn roll, but it's midwinter in Canada now. Pulling the gloves off to peel off another bag is damned nippy.
Leave it for 5 mins and the 💩is frozen. Then kick it in the lake / under a porch. Introducing the 0 bag solution
That’s how I made mine but instead of glue I screwed the 2x4’s alternating sides with 3” drywall screws.
It's faster to put those screws in with a drill if you're careful.
I think those screws would cost more than the lumber.
Great looking work bench. I applaud you 👏 👏👏
GRK screws are the best.
Why is it woodworkers get so much crap for having expensive good tools that makes them feel like they have to do a video like this to prove you don’t need good expensive tools to do something nice?
Here’s what I learned: Good tools makes the job EASIER, not EASY. Even with good tools it’s still hard and expensive to do woodworking. You invest in the tools over time doing a lot of HARD work WITHOUT good tools to get there first. Yes you CAN do it without good tools but it WILL be hard work to complete the task and it may not look the greatest at first. If you put in the effort you will have an easier time at woodworking if that’s what you want to do. You cannot simply jump into the best tools and the best equipment from scratch without breaking your bank.
Where in the hell are you getting raw lumber that comes that flat and straight? Like.. Half the work and tools needed are for getting the raw material into a workable baseline of flat and straight. So if your starting position is from that.. Then of course you can just use a saw and drill to construct something, we all could lol.
If you sift through the trash piles they call lumber at the big box stores there are some straight pieces. Glue and clamps go a long way making a softwood benchtop.
"We all could" That's his point. Anyone can do this.
Nothing would deter me from building a bench more than knowing I have to hand saw everything.
That’s you. Someone new to woodworking who has limited access to tools but wants a cool project might see it differently.
And hand plane.
As well as measure, much, drill, and plan it out.
I love sawing by hand. It's a real joy to me!
@@HeroOfTime303 I bet you like sanding by hand too. Are you a masochist?
@@JayM-wg7ddcheap circular saw costs almost the same as a handsaw tbh
i will never pick up poop from a hound with a plastic bag
Looks very good
Nice Bro ❤🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸
Nice workbench... I call BS on under $60. The lag screws are 3 bones apiece. I'm guessing ~10 2x4x10's at $5 each one 4x4 and a 2x6x10. Ain't no way! 😮
Also meant to say major Props on the props with the hands away and plane, takes a real beast to saw something 3" thick and 24" wide then make it flat with a plane.
Agreed. Thanks to “Bidenomics” aka the “decrepit senile idiot’s guide to bankrupting the USA” lunch at McDonald’s for 3 is now $60. Maybe he meant 60# as in weight 😂
Under 60s (seconds) not $.
@@gallloop60 seconds. Not $60. Withdraw the above mentioned BS
Great bench
No
Make your life easier..by building that..using hand tools..95% of the tools on jobs are hand tools..why use handbags when your using impacts and techs?
Walking dog... 1 more bump than the number of bags... and the "dog-holes"; dude, too many parallel images!
Why do you talk like you’ve never thought about where your vocal chords are?
Spax screws
Which lag bolt was that from Spax Screws? I thought they were out of business.
Lol.. what a joke. A good carpenter uses his scraps and leftover fasteners because he has the knowledge to make it excellent without a $200 material bill
