24:04 Interesting points about this moment.
- Jax is the only circus member who isn't seen grabbing Pomni's hand. It's not really surprising considering his actions towards her in this episode, so it's no wonder why Pomni wouldn't think he has her back.
- It's hard to make out due to his lack of arms, but Kinger is among those grabbing Pomni's hand too, as you can vaguely see his white glove. I like that in spite of his ineptness, Pomni still believes he has her best interest in mind, especially considering he's made two (albeit failed) attempts to rescue her during the chase scene.
- Although Ragatha, Gangle, Kinger, and Zooble ALL grab onto Pomni's hand, It's Ragatha's hand who Pomni grabs onto. I think it's fitting because Ragatha has been extremely supportive of Pomni ever since she's arrived. Doing her best to make her feel welcome, checking up on her in the morning to see if she's okay, and expressing concern when she's put in danger. By the end of this episode, I think Pomni realizes she's taken Ragatha's kindness for granted, so I'm glad we have some implication that Pomni trusts her the most.
Damn this was actually a really good analysis and an amazing detail in the show

after watching episode three, when Kinger talks about Ragatha getting used to the circus he has the bucket on his head but when he takes it off, making it bright again. he forgets. realizing this was so cool. Anyone else notice this?

- The AI being "57x more immersive" means Caine inadvertently allowed Gummigoo to comprehend his true nature but he could also erase his existence with zero effort. That's so darkly comedic, it's great.
- Jax not being as funny and just more violent and manipulative seems like a deliberate effort by Gooseworx to establish how awful Jax is, as she's stated that he is the Digital Circus member that deserves to be trapped within the simulation the most.

Pomni may not recall who she was, but there are obvious hints here that she's heavily knowledgable in aspects of video games that a casual player would not consider, such as collision glitching. Interesting, indeed.

I hate how Gummigoo just perished so quickly, but at least it was quick and he didn’t know what was coming for him! You know it’s good writing when the show isn’t consistently relying on shock horror as humor. You can tell some of the lines are foreshadowing for what’s to come, such as Ragatha saying Caine does like to reuse NPCs. This won’t be the last time we’ll be seeing him, but hopefully he’ll be okay next time.
Comedy, but also drama, and a sense of adventure, I'm sure looking forward to more episodes.
I'm definitely enjoying the existential horror being ever present.
tbh I don't think it'll be him in his next few appearances. I think it works like the Ayanami Rei clones in Evangelion: they're all copies of the same template and each copy has its own separate memories

I find it interesting that the episodes always talk about the idea and concept of "what's real and what's not" and "what is consciousness" in a "show but don't tell" way.

Despite being a fictional character, I can't help but feel too angry towards Caine for what he did at that moment. From then on I developed too much contempt for the character.

20:54 I don’t think most people understood this but he was disappointed and mad because the adventure wasn’t distracting enough for him, usually (from experience) if theres something that someone is trying to avoid, they usually distract themselves with something for a long time and cover it up to avoid thinking about it, so if that distraction ends or wasn’t long enough, it can get frustrating and remind you of your problems all over again. I may be wrong but i feel him :(

If you think about it, kinger may be the most wisest of them. He's crazy, but not stupid. Like how he gave the heads up about Kaufmo and how senses like eating work in the digital circus. He clearly knows what's up, but masks it with crazy actions and outbursts.
(Even here, he commented on how pomni always miss the big monsters they encounter)
that might how he might have been like more often before kingler's mind probably broke. That was really out of character for him as we saw him from episode 1 and that might be his old personality surfacing for a brief moment.

At Kaufmo’s funeral Pomni notices she’s surrounded by people who genuinely care for one another. You can see the moment on her face when she realizes she no longer has to suffer by her self anymore. Amazing character growth for Pomni and it’s only episode 2.

Imagine a person getting stuck in the Circus, but instead of spawning in the Circus itself, they accidentally spawned inside one of Caine's adventures, and he mistook them for an NPC because they didn't enter the Circus properly?

Jax certainly seems to be trying very hard to be distant and cause trouble. Also poor Gumigoo I can't believe he just got eliminated like that by Cain I do hope if we see him again he remembers the moment he had with Pomni. That during the inbetween it isn't some terrible time or anything now that is aware, or just forgets. I love how alive the NPC seem.

24:08 I think that is the most genuine smile that Pomni has ever given in this show. Before then her smiles were just out of being stress or nervous about the crazy stuff that is happening around her. However, at this moment at a place where she used to believe that she was alone in this madness comes to realize that despite everything that's happened she realizes that these people genuinely care for each other and honor those they have lost. She finally knows now that they do care for her and won't leave her behind to be abstracted. Because when you're in a place that feels like a prison there is always people who share your struggles and can support you. Pomni now can ease up knowing she is not alone on her journey.

I feel like it's worth noting that Kinger is keeping his eyes closed firmly during Kaufmo's memorial, at 23:52. He's not in a dark space, but maybe it's a grounding technique he uses to try to retain clarity for important moments like this?
Man, apart from everything here that was honestly just so sad, the scene at 24:02 with all of the group grabbing Pomni's hand before she can fall is really a good spot to end this. Despite the things they're going through, they have each other to be with and rely on.
Brings up another point, however. Jax was not among the people grabbing her hand. At 23:10 Jax's eyes flash, showing some form of grief as Kaufmo is mentioned, before he immediately replaces it with stubbornness and walks away, leaving the others to attend the funeral by themselves. It really shows how separated he is from the group-- The fact that he bottles up all his feelings and acts as the chill jerk who doesn't care. I'm really interested in how this is going to go, for all of them.

Just came back from episode 3. The scene where Kinger is calling the bug beautiful almost made me cry.
Kinger grew on me a lot this episode, the small signs that he remembers important events and genuinely cares about the crew whilst still being a scatterbrain was very charming. Excited to see more!

I also noticed a small detail at 24:03 - 24-05. Pomni believes now that everyone else would reach out their hand to grab hers except Jax. Obviously a lot of us understand why she may feel or believe that Jax would not be there for her but it was just a small detail.

I'm amazed at how thoughtful and deep Kinger can be if he's in the dark, the way he speaks and the "calm and seriousness" he displays is very impressive, it shows how mature he is.
Jax looking sad for one frame before forcing himself to be angry again was a nice touch. Also, his hand was missing when Pomni imagined all of them pulling her out of the void. Nice touches, it definitely left me wanting more haha

I think not enough people talk about the sequence at 24:03, it shows that Pomni has grown through the episode and realized at the funeral that the other people stuck with her genuinely care for one another, and that they’ll be there no matter what- it shows that they’ll hold onto one another- I think that’s one of the things that really stuck with me
I find it interesting that Jax's hand was the only hand that was not reaching out to catch Pomni in the end.

There's something subtle that I feel it's worth noting. In the ending first episode, together with the intense music, it was zooming out form the dinner table, to the whole circus area, to the grounds, then out of the void to the screen it feels like a cry to "GET ME OUT OF HERE!!!!".
But then in this ending it zoomed out from the funeral, to the circus area then stops at the tent. Clarifying that Pomni is adjusting to her surroundings and realising the support given by the people she's with.

The funeral at the end is a lovely touch, I think a lot of shows these days like to do the cynical "haha nothing matters and this character is gone" bit without also having those sweet, somber moments of grieving to complete that line of thought. Death is inevitable and it can be sudden and cruel, but what we do after in their memory can be tasteful and sweet and loving.

Wow, the plot ideas in this episode are some of the most interesting I've seen explored in a while. Gummigoo, an NPC, realizing he's an NPC is such an awesome concept and truly chilling.
If yu like that Iidaa, you should give Mogworld a read. It's about a bunch of NPCs figuring out they're in an MMO.
