These comments scared the hell out of me. I just wanted to share my story so people know that a reaction can be normal but doesn’t mean your dog is gonna DIE or stay that way forever. I feel so sooo sad for anyone who lost their pet due to a vaccine. How devastating.
Here’s my story. My dog Leeloo is almost a year old. 4lb Pomeranian. She was totally fine for a couple hours following the vaccine which she had around 2PM. We took her to the beach and had a great time. Then that evening around 5 she started shaking terribly. Figured she could have fever so we covered her in blankets. Around 6-7 she started panting heavily so we unconverted her. She proceeded to breath rapidly for the rest of the evening. Also it was the first time she ever avoided us. Normally she’s super clingy. It was hard to make her walk but she caved in and went for a pee but no poo. She did eat her dinner but nothing in the world could stop this dog from eating. She even ate immediately after being fixed lol. Anyway.. That night I woke up every hour checking on her because I was so scared. Next morning she was breathing normal again but extremely tired. We were dog sitting for the first time so she perked you when the dog arrived in the morning but then put herself back to bed in the other room until 2PM. And then suddenly, totally back to normal. The vet said it could be 48hrs before she felt better but luckily it took 24. Her back was still sore for a couple days but otherwise she was fine. I’ve had about 13 dogs in my life (mostly rescues) huge and tiny and this was the first time I really noticed a “reaction” so it was scary to see. But the vet assured many dogs do react this way so hang in there if your doggo doesn’t feel too well and please!!! Call your vet if you’re worried because some reactions clearly can be life threatening.
My dog got the leptospirosis vaccine and the injection area is swelling. I’m really worried and his also really tired. Is this side effects from the vaccine?
@@lissethgonzalez7939 I see your question was posted yesterday so hopefully the problem resolved. If not, it wouldn’t hurt just calling and asking your vet. Normally they don’t charge for inspecting the site as well... that being said, my dog had 4 vaccines and one of them swelled a lot. She had a lump there for a couple weeks. Also she was extremely tired and wanted to be left alone. She didn’t even act that way after a spay so I was very worried. Vet said if she was still acting weird after 24hrs, bring her in. But she was fine the next day. Hope this is the same for your dog!

@@lissethgonzalez7939 Oh I am so glad to hear that. This is why I felt compelled to tell my story. My dog felt pretty down and when I found this video and read these comments I nearly had an anxiety attack! It is normal for them to feel unwell and have some swelling for a short period of time
Same here,(April 13) I just had my 2 years old 1/3 chihuahua boosted for 8and1 vaccine. She was fine during that day. But on the following day (April 14) she vomited once in the morning but despite that she still ate. On the evening, I started to noticed that she was limping and her head was kind of shaking. I kind of overlooked her situation thinking that it was all just a reaction from the vaccine.
April 15- she ate only a LITTLE bit. Like a tinge only. (Still limping)
April 16- Ate her dog food in the morning. Gave her a lot of water through syringe because I didnt want her standing up since she's having a hard time walking. In the afternoon, she ended up vomiting a lot and eventually her vomit turned into clear fluid. Evening came and I noticed that her head was shaking again! Her shaking would eventually stop if I touch her head.
This really had me worried. Tried bringing her to the vet but he just told me not to overthink about it and that it was just normal.
Is it really just normal? I've been really paranoid especially when I just lost 3 of my dogs last month due to canine distemper :(
My dog had a reaction to a vaccine at eight weeks old. As soon as they injected her, she was vomiting. The vet wanted to keep an eye on her for about 15 mins to make sure she was okay. Then, three hours later she starting vomiting again, didn’t want to move, looked depressed, extremely tired. I ended up calling my vet three times in 10 mins because it escalated so quickly and I knew something was wrong because my puppy was always running and playing and wanted to be held and so forth. I rushed her into the vet and they got her to the back immediately. They checked her gums and her gums went white when they were pink before. That’s when the vet took me seriously. I KNEW something was wrong. I’ve never had a stronger gut feeling in my life until that day and I knew nothing about vaccine reactions in dogs. The vet had to give her two steroid shots and a Benadryl shot and kept her in observation until they closed. Because I got her there so quickly, he was able to treat her in time before she went into Anaphylactic shock. Her temp was back to normal, her gums were back to pink, and she was back to her puppy hyper puppy self. Even the get noticed she was not moving much and when I came to pick her up the first thing he said was “she’s running around and playing again!”. From that day on, I have to pretreat her with Benadryl three times a day, for three days, three days before her next vaccine and I had to leave her at the vet all day every time she had a vaccine so they could make sure she was okay. They kept her for a long time because she didn’t have a reaction until three hours after that one particular vaccine. We have not had a reaction since and she is doing great now at 10 months old. I may not have children but I consider myself a dog mom and that day my instinct kicked in big time and I was terrified I was going to lose her. The vet even met me at the door right before closing time because it was that serious. He even checked on her the next day to see how she was doing. I will forever be greatful for Dr. Troye. :)

My French bulldog 4yr old received the Lyme and leptospirosis vaccines and immediately went into a coma and passed away. I’m super scare of al of the hiding information ( “toxics”) on all of these vaccines. I don’t know if I would ever recover from my lost 😞
I'm so very sorry to hear this. It is just not fair. I hope you see my message - my little dog Maltese/Poodle was vaccinated with the Leptosporosis vaccination on 14th July 2023 - less than 6 weeks later she was very unwell and diagnosed with auto immune GME - she continues now on Prednisolone and four weekly Cytarabine injections. Her prognosis is guarded to poor. What was the name of the vaccine give to your doggie?
I just took my cat to the vet today and 1 hour later she is panting and zipping around everywhere and seems to be itchy (twitching her back and tail). She does this sometimes, I suspect she might have hyperesthesia syndrome. But I don’t think this is the case right now. Feeling worried because my vet is already closed and not taking calls.

I knew I was worried about the vaccine. But I held I higher priority over being able to get her checked for heart worms. Texas State Law that the dog must receive the rabies vaccine or the vet can not see her (until I find me a nice country vet). So I went ahead and did it. She did not have worms,, good news. 4 days later she is sore to the touch,, yelping sore. Makes me sick to the stomach.

Got a liter of 8 puppies vaccinated at 6 weeks. Day 9 after vaccination, one of the puppies, out of 8, got parvo. Whether or not it was a false positive, she had all the symptoms of parvo. Something went wrong! Went ahead and got the remaining 7 puppies vaccinated at 8 week mark. Now since I'm researching, I dont think I will ever vaccinate another dog or puppy ever again... it is too much of a risk!

Had a serious reaction myself several times so watching with keen eye bc puppy was forced into 4 when I only came for one. They didn't even ask. Now he's itching, pacing, whining and unable to pay attention or do what he used to, he seems to have forgotten all his training commands and won't do anything but chew on the spot that they failed to inject twice at. He's become extra clingy and whines until I come and cuddle or pet him, and doesn't want to eat or play with toys. It's been 3 days and he seems to be getting more symptoms.
The other pets I had that were vacced developed hideous allergies to the point of chewing themself raw, and had their quality of life ruined and one passed from an ultra rapid developing cancer. Vets don't believe me.
I feel really angry and I wish I could've said no and been taken seriously, not treated like some "difficult Karen" for being concerned about this.
My 6 year old male Cocker Spaniel received a Rabies shot 2 days ago. He'd had 2 others. The shot was administered by my house vet .. within about 3 minutes he began to cry out and he was collapsing .. The vet knew immediately he was in shock (she has done 50 shots with this lot of drugs with no issues and in her entire career has not had this reaction with a dog).. It was very apparent he was in extreme trouble. She immediately gave him benadryl and steroids and had us RUSH to the emergency hospital. She called ahead for us and was going to be right behind us. He defecated on the floor while collapsed and his eyes rolled back - this tongue was WHITE .. Even the Vet along with us was upset. She'd done what she could and we need to get to the hospital. I carried him to the car and had him on my lap in the back seat - he was dying.. frantically I am on the hone with the vet and she tells me I'll need to do mouth to mouth and cpr.. She is then told the HOSPITAL told us we can not come and they will turn us away !!!! OMG - we keep going 6 more blocks to a vet we know and the door is locked with a sign that says stay in your car - and call us. (COVID) - I am screaming through the door - He is dying - he is dying!!!! They figure it out and RUN out and take him from my arms.. I am sobbing and saying please save him ... They get him in the back - immediate oxygen and fluids. They could not tell me he'd survive for over an hour - then they gave us cautious optimist updates. He pulled though and in the end - it was the blood pressure from the shock. He was in total shock within 3 min of his shot! What did we learn. 1) Who cares if it is RARE that it happens. Take precaution. Our dog will now be exempt and he has enough titers anyway. But get your vaccine done in the AM on a mid week day at a vet with ALL the things needed to respond and save your dogs / cats life. AND - do not leave your pet out of our site for several hours - in fact even a few days. Treat them in advance with Benearyl. Our house vet saved his life - because he BARLEY made it with what she did for him .. had she not - he'd be dead .. I truly would NEVER get over it if we had lost him - it was SO sudden. Our vet hospital (the one that took us) said they treat about 4 dogs a month with bad reactions - but that ours was severe. I learned that even the women who took him out of my arms at the vet was shaken by the experience. It is SO horribly to watch these little innocent guys dying in front of you . BE SAFE - I read in one of the posts that someone kept their dog home and did not get to the emergency vet when their dog had shaking etc. They are very lucky that dog did not die. Any symptoms - don't wonder - GO to the vet - right away. IMHO

My dachshund 9week puppy had an anaphylactic reaction. Was very sick, vomiting/diahreaa/swelling/temp dropped immediately, and fast.

You've seen ONE anaphylactic reaction? My dog, a pit, coded after a rabies vaccine. Wasn't even able to make it to the car, carried her back in.
Lived after a shot of benadryl, but I have an appointment tomorrow for another "wellness check" and I have to say, I want to just skip it.

The rabies shots are always the scariest but there are different types they can administer... there are live and dead vaccines... I would say find out what type your baby got and if it was live get the dead one next time. I have a pet skunk ( there is no rabies vaccine approved for skunks so they have to use the same ones they give to dogs and to fly him when we moved he needed to have a rabies shot) they say to only ever administer the dead rabies vaccine to skunks because it is technically weaker and safer... hopefully your dog can get that one and have a better experience next time if it's different than the last one
Hi. I gave my dog shots on Friday the 23rd of March, 2018. The next Thursday was the first he showed ANY symptoms of anything being wrong. We took him in that Friday (March 30th, 2018) and his red blood cells were down the drain. It was 4-10 thousand to give him blood transfusions for a 50/50 chance to live. He was 4 1/2 years old. He’s had the shots before with no reaction. We had to put him down on the 30th of March. I’m devastated.

littlered4201 no, vaccinations benefit more than harm. These cases are extremely rare and unfortunate. Vaccinations prevent a lot of horrible diseases.

I took my dog Saturday to get his vaccinations and this Monday he had a seizure I called the vet and they said it had nothing to do with the vaccines which I feel is bs I am following up with an exam but because of the holidays and COVID they can’t see him till Friday any ideas on why or is it vaccine related he has non er had any issues before

my puppy also experienced the same thing ,when i consulted the vet he said that its the reaction of medicine and suggested me to give paracetamol syrup and washing the puppys face now the trembling decreased but a litle trembling is there

I have a very small teacup maltipoo I absolutely love her. She got her vaccine on Wednesday 11/3/21 hours after her vaccine and de-worming medicine she vomited. The next day she wouldn’t eat or drink water or move from her bed except to go potty. Today is Friday and she is still super lethargic not eating I have to fed her through a syringe which she hates but I’m trying to keep her alive. I took her to the vet today and they told me to just keep doing what I’m doing but I’m so afraid she will die. Nola (my puppy) is only 1.8lbs
What if she has parvo? Which I’m not sure where she would have gotten because I never take her out but my mind is going crazy I haven’t slept this is all so sad I just want her to feel better and be her amazing puppy self

My puppy has just got his 7 week vaccination shot and has a knot or a lump at the injection site. Will this go away. I tried heat and cold but he doesn't like either. I'm just curious what my actions should be. The lump ecured after the shot was given. He is still playing and eating just fine and no vomiting or anything just the knot or lump.

@@Lymelady08 I ended up bringing him to the vet and they prescribed Tolfenol. He then felt better after a day. He just had his last shot 3 days ago and he's doing good. :) Just very glad we are done with it :)
Kitten was vaccinated on a Saturday, it's wednesday now, and she has not eaten, she is wasting away and I'm thinking that she may die. Before the vaccine she was doing great playing and had a great appetite.

Request your pup be vaccinated one vaccine at a time over several weeks. NEVER let them give him / her a combo shot....EVER.
IF THEY DISAGREE OR SEEM INCONVENIENCED......find another clinic !
Never give dogs a cocktail of shots...Its just not right and puts quite a strain on their immune system.

I'm going to the vet tomorrow, I hope my puppy will be fine. I only want to give him rabies vaccine but the vet just wants money, says bring his poo and they will do test, I've said we only want the rabies shot because it's compulsory but they are making me do more. If anything happens to my puppy I will throw a fit.. She literally helped me stop smoking cigarettes since I got her.

My dog keeps sneezing and snorting! Hes got like a cold. Here theres something you can give to help this but you have to give it right after or before the vaccine! It was a 3 year rabies shot! Im calling them tomorrow! My dog is 10 years old! This started 2 days after vaccine and were on day 5 and hes still runny nose mild fever. He just cant sit still at night when sleeping. He seems a tad bit better than last night! Its a state law for rabies shots and i dont want him getting rabies but this has scared me! My dog is never sick!! Hes always been healthy!

My 7 week old shih -tzu is experiencing lethargic reaction right now, I really don’t know what to do she just got her First Vaccine 💉 this morning and she was fine before we got to the vet. And on our way home she vomited a lot in the car, I put her to bed when we immediately got home, the whole afternoon she just felt worse she was having trouble breathing and she’s still puking and not eating. I tried to contact my Vet but I’m still “on read.” I’m so worried right now I can’t even sleep. She’s the tiniest most precious thing in the world.

I'm worried my two dogs have the beginning of sarcoma on their shoulders, they both have a dime sized lump that is hard- very unlike the fatty tumor one has

Why did you do rabies vaccine?
I have to vaccinate my dog against rabies cause we have to travel to another country where that vaccine is required. Three weeks have passed and he has become very aggressive, something very strange since he has always been docile and friendly with other dogs. Is this a normal reaction to the vaccine?

Why do they give the same amount of vaccine to a 10 lb dog and a 100 lb dog??? My 10 lb dog had rabies shot yesterday, this morning he’s whimpering and acting weird and in pain. How is your dog doing? Hope he has recovered. I feel sorry that you decided to give him the rabies shot w/o doing research. They are a complete joke! Bcz of the universal dosing, this is why most small dogs should not even be given the shot in the first place. Read my comment above. It's unnecessary and it makes most dogs super sick or sometimes death.
What about leptospirosis vaccine? My 11 year old dog had some digestive issues already. She was given this vaccine on 12/19 and has gotten worse. She has super high abnormal liver enzyme levels now, in hospital and was initially diagnosed with pancreatitis. This morning parts of the white of her eyes had a yellow tinge and her inner ears as well. They are usually bright pink. She is also being given supplement with Silymarin and Sam-e for the liver. Sadly, she may have liver cancer. I believe she already had liver issues before, but I am concerned that after the vaccine she got worse. I am so sad. A few weeks ago she was going for walks with pep in her step. If these are her end days, I just want her to be as comfortable as she can be. 😥.

It's been 3 weeks and my dog is not been the same after leptospirosis vaccine.
I hope you see my message - my little dog Maltese/Poodle was vaccinated with the Leptosporosis vaccination on 14th July 2023 - less than 6 weeks later she was very unwell and diagnosed with auto immune GME - she continues now on Prednisolone and four weekly Cytarabine injections. Her prognosis is guarded to poor.
My persian cat had a allergic reaction to Felv vaccine she had fever and did not eat I wen to the vet they gave her fluids and a shot of antihistamine then they told me to give her benadryl she then was doing alright but after 2 days she is feeling bad again
Ela if your cat doesn't leave the house...it doesn't need to be vaccinated !

Have had our puppy 5 days. He was fine went to first puppy visit got vaccine. Lethargic and tired first day. Still not same 3rd day, but Ok. Day 4-5 diarrhea and vomiting. We’ve been back to vet. Labs look completely normal according to Vet. Had small Fever of 103. He’s really not doing much today, but vet had us take him home. Up to drink water and eat some chicken, but sleeping most the day.

Hey my 4 Month old puppy was given a vaccination for canine distemper, adenovirus, parainfluenza, and parvo virus. Shortly after 48hrs he suddenly couldn't stand and his hind legs would give up every time he tried. He eats and responds well but every time he tries to run or walk far his hip and hind legs collapses. It's like he has no coordination in his hind legs. Can someone tell me why? 😢 I did take him to the vet. He gave him some antibiotics and told me to come back after a week.

@@pjposadas2585 no he didn't get better with the antibiotics. I gave that for a week. After that I continued with multivitamin and started massaging him with an oil. I did that for about 2 weeks. He is 95% better now. Plays jumps and runs around. Just rarely he loses balance and falls. Otherwise he's doing great.

2 of our dogs have fever for more than 3 days already. They haven't eaten for days but they do drink water. They don't move often, it looks like they are always tired. They had their parvo vaccine last week, maybe those were the side effects. They went back to the vet, but the vet only gave them antibiotics. I'm really scared. Help me T^T

Hello! One of them died last year; probably a day or two after I commented. It turned out that they had parvo, but the source is unknown because there are not much dogs in our neighborhood and it was hard to identify which one is the carrier of the virus. One of them died suddenly in the morning before we had the chance to rush to the vet. The other one was rushed to the vet on time, because we were panicking that she might die, and spent a couple of days there for treatment. We took our puppy to another veterinarian because we thought the one we went to first for diagnosis is sh*tty (sorry for the word I used, but that's my honest opinion) because they only looked at the state of the puppies and just gave their thought-out diagnosis without the equipment to check the real health issue. We learned a lesson that we government-funded veterinary offices in our city are not good. Now after a year, she has been healthy with no problems at all.
You should go to a veterinarian if your dog's experiencing the same. It may come to worse if not treated immediately. I hope your dog is okay!

Hi, my cat has a swelling after her injection/ vaccine. I have read that some swelling is normal and it should subside in 3 weeks ish. I’m so worried :( the liquidy swelling popped up around 4 ish days after and is still there now 10 days on. When I feel there is fluid moving around in a 3cm swelling. Do you agree, some swelling is normal?

@@joclivalle6205 sorry, only just saw this, she started to show signs 5 days after and started to throw water back up, I rang the vets and they said try giving her cooked chicken and to call them following day if not any better, by the time I got her there she couldn’t even stand as her liver, heart and kidneys started to fail x

My pets go to the vets, my cat was due his booster, my partner took him to the vets for it, they checked his heart ad gave him the booster, the I’ll was always £45 it went up to £75, I was shocked it was nearly doubled the price, they no longer have the vaccine now, they are house cats so don’t need it, I don’t know if I should still let my dog have it, a lot of people are putting their animals in shelters now because they haven’t the money to pay the vet.

There are breeds that are known to have reactions to vaccines. Lepto vaccine caused so many problems with Dachshunds I have had or known. I feel like he is down playing the reactions! Not every animal needs all the suggested vaccines!
I have a mini dachshund. She just got her 3rd round of shots today. She was fine afterwards but about 3 hours later I went to pick her up and she was crying loudly. Seems like when I touch her leg she cries. I don’t know if that’s normal. The vet just told me to keep an eye on her
@@cocomonie22 How is your dog doing? My dog had a lepto shot and 22 hours later he began crying whenever we picked him up. He won't eat any food and seems like he's having a bad side effect from the shot.

I have a dachshund..she got her 2nd shots today and had a severe reaction. Face, eyes and muzzle is swelled. Gave benadryl and prednisone. Hoping this helps until her vet opens tomorrow.

My 7 month old 6 pound spitz nano (pomeranian family) dog just got her distemper shot and instantly within seconds started itching, got dizzy, fell over, couldn't walk for about 10 to 20 minutes ... her heart rate had dropped and her blood pressure dropped as well... the vet kept a watch on her with me and she slowly regained her balance and now about an hour later has returned to her normal bubbly playful tail up happy self but I just about had a damn heart attack because I had NEVER seen any animal act this way to a typical vaccination. THIS WAS NOT EVEN THE RABIES SHOT SO I'M TERRIFIED OF DOING THAT ONE... this was anything but normal within seconds my dog couldn't stop scratching then literally fell the hell over and stopped moving completely... that is the scariest thing I have ever seen... it was given behind the neck in the area they normally give them... can anyone tell me what the hell happened to my dog... did the vet mess up ? Could there have been an air bubble 🫧? I'm at a loss

Got a lovely little yorkie puppy who received a 5way live virus vaccine prior to me picking him up. He died 2 days after and tested positive for parvo. This poor little dog suffered so much.
Veterinary grade vaccines are not dose calibrated to the weight of the animal. I'll never give these dangerous vaccines to any animal ever again. Never.

the puppy was already sick when received the vaccine, it takes at least 2 week to have antibodies to defend against the disease, poor puppy.

My 2 puppies was vaccinated 3 days ago, the day after the vaccine one puppy suddenly loss of appetite and vomiting white slimy, until now he's not eating and still vomiting, my vet gave him a IV fluid, and now he's pooping brownish watery foul smell with worm.
try looking into barf diet for dogs it can help some i nearly lost my two dogs to rabbies vaccine and my vet is completely clueless on what to do so ive had to figure it out on my own no vet here seems to know there butt from a big hole in the ground here but maybe just maybe someone will get lucky and find one thats not so stupid

My kitten just had a reaction to vaccinations severe lethargy and stopped eating and drinking I rushed her in to the emergency veterinarian and they gave her steroids that seem to help resolve a lot of her issues for every vaccinations she gets she has to have a steroid mixed in the injection
I took her back into the Vet after observing for 8 hours and no change of condition

My healthy cat developed bad cancer and died after receiving a rabies shot. The county officer insisted that we take her for the shot because that’s the law. Well the law killed our cat.
