My 02 9-3 Convertible broke down 233 miles from Sturgis on my way to the convention. Ended up towing it back to Missouri and missed everything. Thanks for filming this, at least I get to see some of what I missed out on.
I appreciate you taking the time to document this event as it unfolds. I was told that there were very few NG9-5's there but I was surprised to hear how many C900's were there! Thanks again!
Can only be there virtually, though I wish I could be there IRL. Old dogs and jobs you know! Nice to hear those 900s running well, particularly the verts. I love the sound of mine. Thanks for the post, and will look forward to more.
Glad you took a ride with Carl -- spoiler alert -- it's not just a video of cars standing still in a parking lot. A typical ride in the Black Hills, lots of greenery, lots of sun =) drop top fun
Thanks for posting!! Really wanted to go this year. Always wondered what striping the hood curves would look like, now seeing it looks good on the car at 1:05! He is right about the T5 swap. Changes it from an engine that runs like a 70's beemer, to a late 90's Saab.
@@AutoAutopsy Yep. The way my SPG ran with just the Swedish Dynamic upgrades and no T5, was very similar to that last 900 Classic you rode in. Hilariously fast. T5 would have smoothed the edges of mine to be sure, with better ignition, timing, boost and fuel control. If you can find the parts, it is a good choice, but you will need a stronger clutch than stock if you go over 240hp. My brand new stocker started slipping almost immediately. I remember hearing the 9000 or 9-5 clutch and flywheel would fit it.
Thanks for filming Jacob, sure looks like a great time, I made Albany last year but couldn't make this year. Will try to make next year, any word on where it is going to be, I'm in Florida. Thanks again for all you do to keep the Saab name alive.
I heard it might be in Chicago next year for the 50th (I think?) convention to go back to where the first one was - then again some speculated that it was going to be in Chicago last year as well so take it with a grain of salt.
You really know your Saabs! My first car was a 9000 -90 light blue metallic with rims like those at 6:14. Unfortunately someone broke into it, which I heard is very easy, wrecked the interior and stole 2 of the tires. I have a black 9-3 -03 Vector now.
The video I've waited and very much looked forward to, awesome video Jacob, seems like you enjoyed the 605. The laser red last gen 9-5 is everything, and the color looks amazing on that body style.
That midnight blue OG 9-3 is the last year of cabriolet package with Viggen body kit and interior without Viggen sign on the front set, it is the same spec as OG 9-3 Aero, except Aero also has logo on the seat. There are too many of unique SAAB in Taiwan, also the only place which SAAB dealers still operating in the world, last year also contracted with Maptun on top of Hirsch authorized, most of Saab's owned by enthusiast today with highly modification. some of custom like LED and bumper cover modified, many of them upgrade to evan 4 or 6 pistons break caliper and disc after increasing huge power under the bonnet. One day a Dutch engineer from ASML was on a taxi saw the dealer in Tainan, he had never see so many SAAB again then plan to spend 15 min for short stop end up have the manager to give him a two hrs tour, I was lucky to see it on FB, there are too many unique SAAB in dealer just like car show.
Hi Jacob Thanks for the video. The initial car you focused on, with satin black paint, started life as a 96. (The 93 was an earlier model with a more sloping rear end and a bull nose, from the 2 stroke era) At 10:24 - that looks like it may be the car which belongs to Dennis Lin. If so, that's been modified to the Nth degree and would be worthy of an episode all to itself.
Hopefully, my mechanic made it there from Mass. in his Sonnet. (My '99 9-3 cv wouldn't stand out in that crowd, but thanks a lot to Ralph, it would easily make the trip there to SD!)😎 ETA: So many Saabs, too many to comment on, but if I didn't get my (bluish) frost grey, I would've chosen cosmic or midnight blue. So much Saab envy!
Not going to lie it's almost like a drug finding parts for my Saab. Alot of searching highs and lows And at the end of the day your always bolting or clipping a new part in while saying I need to see if I can find that next. Haha
I am not a die-hard Saab fan, however, the very first grey convertible you looked at appeared rather fetching and I could be "forced" to drive it...........
Great video. Well done. Its ridiculous that you have to worry about playing copyrighted music in an instructional video eh. You would think whatever musician would appreciate a minute of getting their music out there. Anyways, great job mate.
Most of those cars are NOT a Saab as most of them are a GM parts bin car and nothing more. Saab was dead when GM purchased them and have next to nothing in common with Saab at all as the entire drivetrain (The Heart of Any Car Mind You) is GM! If you want a real Saab purchase one pre GM... Most of the cars shown here have very little if anything that was Saab. Most of what I see here is all on a GM platform with a Saab badge slapped on it!
@@AutoAutopsy How is it a bad take may I ask? Open up the hood on a late "SAAB" and go from the front to the back and explain to me how it's not GM? Sorry if your feelings got hurt BUT it is what it is so to speak. SAAB was dead when GM purchased them correct? If SAAB was doing so well they did not need GM to purchase then in the first place right? You can call it "cringe" all you like BUT is it not far from the truth? GM only made the pain go on for a few more years till SAAB was nothing more than history. I love SAAB BUT it has long been a dead company!
Today I bought my first Saab! I wanted to buy it for about 20 years. It gives much more fun than I expected.
Congrats!!
Congratulations what model

Thanks for talking about my Red 9-4x, Jacob! Very much enjoyed talking with you!
You too! Thanks for sharing info on the car
I bought a new Saab 99 in 1970 and a used Saab 96 in 1975 and loved them both, fun little cars and great in snow!
nice
Wow what an awesome event!! So proud to see this, in the UK I don't think there's this many...
thanks :) it was fun
Can't wait to get out there and see that museum in-person! Awesome.

Sorry to hear that, It is bummer that I feel your pain, what is this car museum at?
oh no :(

Happy to! Yeah there weren’t a ton of NG 9-5’s, but a huge amount of 900’s
Great eye candy for the Saabaholics in us!! 😁 Thanks, Jacob. Looking forward to the follow-ups.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed

So sad I couldn’t go to Albany when it was finally nearby but hopefully the convention comes to the northeast again one day.

Hey how long did it take for your maptun/swedish motorsports stuff to ship to the US
usually a couple of weeks

Not one single 97X, must be not very popular, I better keep a hold of mine then
Unfortunately very very few are owned by enthusiasts, so they don’t make it out to these events too often
Woo I can’t believe US citizens really cared for the remaining Saabs, whereas they used to scorn them
I see your friend has gauges added on the A pillar- I’d like to ask him some questions about that. Can you connect me to him?
his instagram is @dat_saab!
Where is SOC 2023 going to be located?
