Thank you Scott for the music you created with STP. It was a big part of my years growing up and helped me get through some tough and confusing times. Rest in peace.
Scott Weiland {s.t.p & velvet revolver} like so many other beloved song writers, you leave me with an appreciation that I grew up in era where music told stories of our teen frustrations, empty inside accept the needle in your veins, sleepless, homeless but not heartless it all was apart of my memories of youth and growing up in a world of judgement and ridicule. But somehow, the music, the lyrics inspired so many of us. thank you so much. I'm blessed to of been apart of something bigger than myself. with enamored appreciation. to you all (Scott Weiland, Layne stailey, Kurt cobain, Peter Steele,) and so many others R.I.P and again thank you for the peace within your words. you'll be greatly missed.
I was born in 83' and feel very lucky to have gotten to experience 90's music when it was new. The 2000s were an ocean of crap with a few tiny islands of good music.
I remember, very early in my teen life... hearing this masterpiece (and yes, they used to play the unlugged on the radio KBAT 93.3 Midland-Odessa, TX). The day we can accept this Beyonce "Work Work Work... Work" over lyrics like "Time to take her home her dizzy head is Conscience laden" is so sad for me. Damn bullshit compared to true modern poetry..... RIP a true champion in more lives than you can imagine Scott. Keep on rocking Dean, Robert and Erik...
Idk man, I'd say the most underrated front man of the grunge scene, but Layne Staley and Chris Cornell are some pretty heavy front men as well for their respective bands.
It saddens me to this day and probably for a very long time the fact that Scott will not be able to create more masterpieces. RIP Scott, STP was my favorite band of all time.
First time I heared song was in Crow the movie. Was a blast...STP is a huge impact for my taste of music and how I find lyrics. When I bought their tape-yes casette- I was listening it all way from side A to B was such a blast of energy and feel! Thanks!
Total classic, STP and others like this band are the real deals... too bad even good things like this era must be of the past, never to be this way again... The real reason MTV doesn't have shows like "Unplugged" anymore? The lacking of true Artists nowadays... that's a no brainer...
STP brought us some great original music. We can try to classify them or rank them, but overall they gave us some great music. For me, STP was the soundtrack to that decade.
EVERY generation Feels that "THEIR ERA " or Decade was the best in music. Start at the 50s and come on up They were all GOOD with Great musicians from all time periods. We can only stand in Awe now of what happened Musically and thank the ghost's and retiree's of music for what they gave us all!******
Sometimes even 20 years later I still miss the days of the Seattle Bands. What's funny, me and most everyone at my school used to thing STP was one of those Seattle bands, about 5 or so years ago when I found out STP was actually from San Diego I was stunned and sat there arguing with my wife (whos from Seattle) that there was just no way in hell she could be right and me and everyone else at my high school could be wrong about it, but we were. I still have a hard time wrapping my head around it
Incredibly Beautiful! Going on 25 years ago ... We were in our mid to late 20's in the early to mid 1990's I believe the song's about an intimate relationship and wrestling with not wanting to disrupt it with falling in love. Therefore not wanting to say anything or whether or not to pursue the relationship further into falling in love.
My God, MTV Unplugged was the best. Cracked re-direct, I didn't know STP did one, but now that I have the show downloading, I'm noticing they did several songs that wouldn't show up until Tiny Music... even though this show was clearly done before Purple was recorded. Haven't listened to it yet, but Lady Picture Show is on, for sure. Man, I miss when they were a great band, by which I mean everything before No. 4
SurfingBullDog sorry I'm so late, brah... Same here, but when I was in the Boy Scouts as assistant Scout Master at Camp Pupukea... the kids was into grunge, and I sang this at the campfire. Oh, yeah... I lived in Wahiawa... Right outside Wheeler AFB, across Lake Wilson.
two of my top 3 for the 90's, i also love Pearl Jam. I love STP more than any band ever and always will, that's saying a lot cause music = life for me...
Yeah pretty much same for me. Ide say I have a lil deeper love for AIC tho cuz of their complete uniqueness and that I have a personal connection with alot of their songs. But yes STP is still tied as my top fav band of the 90s.
I agree with luitenant22, but im still a big fan of Nirvana, they may be a bit over-rated but everyone loves them and theyr great to chill out and jam too. smashing Pumpkins too are very good, one of my favourites
well there are alot of bands who tie with me. alice in chains, stp, pearl jam, primus, nirvana, tool, soundgarden, porno for pyros, smashing pumpkins, fishbone and collective soul. i mean, you cant compare these bands. music in the 90's was just great and without any of these groups a little of that spirit would be gone. i must say that i like 'em all equally. especially the first 7 i mentioned. you should actually check them out
Idk why but I prefer unplugged for grunge bands over their hard rock concerts (STP, Alice In Chains, Nirvana, Pearl Jam) shows how musically talented each band was.
Hey man Im sorry you feel that way I am almost 40 yrs older than you at 59 so you can imagine the Bands I have seen since I was 20 but I understand what you said and meant and you might be right

Agreed. Grew up with both of them, and none compare among their contemporaries. Not to say the other bands of the era are bad, far from it, but they pale in comparison to Alice and STP.
How the fuck does this beautiful masterpiece only have 176,000 views yet every time one of those stupid Kardashian twats move the wrong way the internet erupts lol RIP Scott you are definitely in a better place that's for damn sure. Fuck man I miss you
Gladstone on Cracked.com brought me here and he was absolutely right... Scott sang the better version of the best STP song here... Beautiful and haunting...
so true. nirvana was very good but it seems like everyone puts them wayyyy over pearl jam, soundgarden, STP, etc. all those bands are great you can't even pick out the best one but i agree nirvana is a little overrated. besides grohl, they didnt have any extremely superb talent, though cobain was a very good songwriter. as for eddie vedder, i consider him one of the the greatest/most unique voices of all time.
I didn't say Pearl Jam is bad or anything. They were easily better than Nirvana. But they sold way too many records and kinda more mainstream. I liked only AIC & Sound Garden though....
Yes. But STP rule. They did everything anyone should have about a band. The name makes no sense and was picked to make lawyers happy. The sound was made to piggyback on the grunge wave. But they can fucking write songs. Beatles-like songs. I haven't listened to Pearl Jam or Nirvana in years. AIC, STP, and Soundgarden are the ones I keep going back to.
@ToddWentworth One of the best but not the best. To many great bands with different styles to ultimately say what band was the bed. Everybody has dfferent taste in music and ppl have different opinnios. To you they were to me it was Alice In Chains, to somebody else it might have been Soundgarden or Pearl Jam.
Stone Temple Pilots... Best band to listen to for a midnight drive in the city.
Thank you Scott for the music you created with STP. It was a big part of my years growing up and helped me get through some tough and confusing times. Rest in peace.
I agree. .thank you Scott
Still the definitive version for me
Fakename70
You said it, brother
Scott Weiland {s.t.p & velvet revolver} like so many other beloved song writers, you leave me with an appreciation that I grew up in era where music told stories of our teen frustrations, empty inside accept the needle in your veins, sleepless, homeless but not heartless it all was apart of my memories of youth and growing up in a world of judgement and ridicule. One of the very few bands that can pull off a live performance better than the album version. Fuck me, that bass and Scott's voice makes me moist.
His music influenced my life, style and so very much more. We will all miss you Scott! Rest in peace
I was born in 83' and feel very lucky to have gotten to experience 90's music when it was new. The 2000s were an ocean of crap with a few tiny islands of good music.
Lawson Box I was born In 84 and feel the exact same
I was born in 89 and don't feel the same.
I remember, very early in my teen life... hearing this masterpiece (and yes, they used to play the unlugged on the radio KBAT 93.3 Midland-Odessa, TX). best frontman of the grunge scene, and it isi so much to say RIP Scott
Probably one of the best frontmen of all time as well.
Idk man, I'd say the most underrated front man of the grunge scene, but Layne Staley and Chris Cornell are some pretty heavy front men as well for their respective bands.

The Crow + Big Empty = Awesome
It saddens me to this day and probably for a very long time the fact that Scott will not be able to create more masterpieces. RIP Scott, STP was my favorite band of all time.

Best rock music period since the 70's.
STP brought us some great original music. We can try to classify them or rank them, but overall they gave us some great music. For me, STP was the soundtrack to that decade.
man, what a great bassist!!!!
EVERY generation Feels that "THEIR ERA " or Decade was the best in music. Start at the 50s and come on up They were all GOOD with Great musicians from all time periods. RIP Scott, men have lived longer & achieved less
I agree

Agreed. Grew up with both of them, and none compare among their contemporaries. Not to say the other bands of the era are bad, far from it, but they pale in comparison to Alice and STP.
I liked it for the guitarist. He's too good for this guy...
How the fuck does this beautiful masterpiece only have 176,000 views yet every time one of those stupid Kardashian twats move the wrong way the internet erupts lol RIP Scott you are definitely in a better place that's for damn sure. Fuck man I miss you
jack meoff True artistry is rarely appreciated and it is oft by a few
If you can say any one band in particular is "the best" you need to expand your music awareness.
Back before Scott had to force the iconic deep raspy voice...
Dat rocking chair :D
Kurt is dead, Layne is dead, Scott is dead, Chris is dead...WTF!
Tim Rogers eddie veder forever please
Im from the generation of the 2010, im 20 years now, and I must say that my generation doesnt have anything special really...
@MrBrombomb amen!
Anyone else get here because STP is the shit!?!!?
Everytime I hear this song I want to cry, that’s screwed up. I can’t believe he is dead :(
Gladstone on Cracked.com brought me here and he was absolutely right... Scott sang the better version of the best STP song here... Beautiful and haunting...
Alice In Chains & STP are tied for best bands in the 90's in my opinion.....but yes....fucking love STP
I wanna be a stone temple pilot!
Too early.rip.
In their primes, all three are equally "the best" Weiland's prime, and Layne's prime were shorter than Eddie's is all
My name is what it means
i have a copy cat of the Thunderbird form the movie and the car club gets together to run the road on halloween playing this.
@shawnna432 Yeah Me too!
What happened to real musicians like STP N OTHERS most today's music is so watered down
Here cause of Cracked. Not that big of a Gladstone fan tho. I miss Lonny.

@ToddWentworth You cant forget about Alice In Chains!!
I'm here because of the graphic novel The Demon Dungeon.
To even mention them two names.... You have to throw Pearl Jam in there
