This shows how much snow cairgorns mountains had, its now almost April, and mountains around cairngorm mountain are still white out. Not even patches have appeared even with the mild rainy weather in March. Hill outside inverness 250m I could walk from my home and snow was up to my knees. Was such a great winter, plus atm on a9 around dalwiniie, 400m becssue of high winds at end of cold snap there is still snow patches around the side of the road
You've turned the circumstances into a massive positive by exploring your 'local' hills in your favourite conditions. I've discovered new paths & trails on my doorstep. Our usual haunts will be waiting for us when all is well again.
Thanks Michael. Yeah it's been great from that perspective and tbh, it really has helped stave off the absolute trauma that I know a lot of people are experiencing not being able to get to the hills.
So will you be racing up the A9 first day that you are allowed to Ben? :) These local snowy winter hikes have been brilliant Ben do you have any more still to upload?
Yep. You can start walks up to 5 miles from the border of your local authority. I'm on a rural hill road anyway so it takes 10 mins just to get down off it ;-)

We missed out on that February snow in Ayrshire - I was quite envious of my friends in the east. There might be some more next week though!
It's still keeping us guessing :(
:-)

Just one more to finish off :) Not sure where I'll head once lockdown eases tbh. Wherever it is, it'll be wherever other people aren't ;-)
30 mins drive from home? Is that allowed. Not being a troll, just asking.

Did you do anymore walking up hills on the following few days after this hike?
Yep, one final walk over the Lomonds and then.....the snow was gone.
