I did all 4 Torridon peaks in 1987, including Beinn Dearg, the "not quite a Munro", but which has amazing views of the other 3. and some great easy scrambling on the ridge. I took on Beinn Alligin the other way and it is wonderful. The Torridons are the finest range in the UK and not to be missed.
Another fabulous video! Love it! What a beautiful day! Stunning views, though I gotta say I was kind of holding my breath a bit at times! :) I'm still catching up on some of your older posts and enjoying every moment of it!
Yeah it was the kind of day where you really have to shelve all your other plans and take advantage of the wonderful weather. Shame we haven't had many more days like that since November :( Thanks for watching the other videos too!
Let's just hope 2014 actually brings calm weather as well as snow. Can't get up into the hills just now for all the gales and storms :( All the best for 2014, Sinclair!
Dicey, more like. It looks very inviting when it's lightly snowed but it's generally safer underfoot when there's a massive dump of snow. Avalanches notwithstanding....
Great mountain video, thanks very much Ben.Keep up the good work.I did Alligin back in the summer of 2005, climbing the two Munros first before traversing the horns. There was just one tricky bit climbing up towards the first horn and I can understand why you found that part a bit dicey, descending in those conditions!
Thanks! Yeah it wasn't so much the steepness but the quality and depth of the snow. Just a little too wet under the sun to give reliable purchase. I did wonder at one point if I would have to turn back. I wrote a piece afterwards about winter gear and how it doesn't always help you: benvironment.org.uk/post/66981982965/ice-axe-crampons-friend-or-foe
I have to say WOW.. that was your first in Scotland..it looks like you were very brave. From a distance when you first started the climb, it looked like the other ridges would be to narrow to even walk on..but as i saw those tops were quite wide enough too walk..that jagged one that almost had you turn back...was it a dangerous accent up and also going down? Or was it the fact that you weren't sure of the footing ..that almost had you turn back? I bet not knowing what is under the snow with each footstep makes it a pretty nervous time..Happy New year , is the weather improving any today1/1/2014 ? I've been hearing about all the rain and storms there..was it all rain or snow also? Sorry for all the questions... ALL THE BEST Maria

I'm inclined to agree :) I've been meaning to get back to Torridon for years so I could get up Beinn Dearg. One day!

That looked like a tough walk but stunning.

Thanks for sharing with us. Some really spectacular views from the "top of the world", to the point were you start feeling "uncomfortable" :-)
Wonderful. Did Alligin 2/3 years ago and IMO its one of the best places in Scotland.
Yep, I'd agree with that.
Superb!
+litljortindan Oh it really was! A day to remember. Thanks for watching and commenting :)

May I ask what camcorder or camera you have used for this?
