Man, Ronnie was an absolute beast with the Faces. Even though the Stones are my all time favorite band, I can´t help but feel that, even though career wise he obviously hit the jackpot by joining them, he has just been vastly underused throughout all of these years there by playing second fiddle to Keith.
Hey P.t I wanted to thank you for helping me see that with practice and common sense I can learn songs I never thought possible or within my reach, because of you I have impressed family and friends with my playing, especially on a lot of Zep tunes that from listening I thought would be way to hard to learn, but after watching your lessons for a couple years I am able to play twice the amount of songs I used to play. I'll keep watching and listening.
I always thought I played this song right, and then I see the 10 little subtleties that you throw in (like you do on every song) and realize why you are in a league of your own! You miss nothing! I wake up every day hoping you've posted a new video!
So I'm on the road, heard Stay With Me today, and 1st thing I thought is "I love that song, wonder if JJ has has put it up, and once again, he's right on time with a stellar rendition! 9 more days on the road and I'll be home working on it. You are the best, James, thanks again
the playing is great but finding that tone Ronnie had, it was in the copper they mined out of the GB back in the day, it was special for shore . . the live for saturday Faces stay ...
It probably wouldn't cause a problem, but I wouldn't leave one in open E permanently. There's added tension on the neck because those three strings are tuned up. You could tune to open D permanently -- same intervals, but a step lower and that would actually be less tension than standard.
@@jamesjames9275 what was the neck profile on that one? I've got a 2017 with a D shape custom feeling neck that feels very good for CCR stuff and a 2004 with what I think is a fat C shape neck which is a bit bigger when I'm trying to solo around but it loves to play thicker muddier tones like Gibbons and Joe Perry stuff.
@@jamesjames9275 Thank you for taking the time to chat JJ! I have watched you for years and always admired your humbleness and character. I am a huge fan of your channel and playing. I too play and have been playing since the age of 10. I am 16 now. I am from Nova Scotia and I am always trying to play the various bars around NS. I was inspired by Little Richard and buddy holly and the stones and humble pie!
Hey man, thanks for the work you do to help the many guitarists out there. Now I must ask where did you get that Showco shirt? It looks pretty new. Either someone didn't wear this for a while, or its a copy? That company went out of business a long time ago.
Kids, if you need one of those slide thingys, just do like old Jimmy Jim here and go into your grandmas bathroom when there's a house full of people, and swipe one from inside of her toilet paper holder! If you've got a twin like I do, you can blame it on him!! :)
So let me get this straight. You're like having a cup of coffee in the kitchen and you look out the window, and say to yourself, "I think I'm gonna go do Stay With Me for a couple thousand folks out there tonight in the biosphere, and see what happens. Is that how it works? What were you doing when you decided to do this song?

He absolutely throttled down when he joined the Stones. Keith wants two rhythm players who occasionally play a solo.
One of the best guitar intros.
That moment when you realize the "like" button is a gross understatement.
Nothing better than being in an open tuning (open G) and hearing a song you just have to play and realizing you don't have to re-tune!
We’ll it’s a shame that you would because it’s in open E
Rhythm guitar RULES in my book!!!

Nice work Dude...nailed it and made it look easy. Nice slide throw... lol. Bjk
Thank you. It's always amazing to watch the ease with which you play. It's inspiring.

JJ - This was a forehead slapper after seeing you play it up close. Thanks for demystifying one of my Top 50 favorites. You have a freaking gift.
Always great rhythm chops.
Best played version on here! Great job! Such a powerful and great song! Ronnie and Rod! 🎶
Fantastic! Bravo! I bet this stuff makes your brothers proud too!

Nice cover! This song is the classic rock and roll sound I love
The true Rod Stewart: rocking out and kicking it hard. Thanks mate.
Killer sound, great song. Nice.
Once Again, Brilliant!!
Thanks James James, what a classic song! Keep it dirty!
Cool tee shirt! I remember seeing their logo stenciled on road cases back in the 70s!
Great video . All the best Vladan.
Thanks JJ. Always loved this song and the Faces and Woody and Rod. Never knew it was in open e. Again thanks!!
Just WOW, James. Love your playing, thanks for another excellent lesson!
Always impressed (jealous) by the guitar collection. Thanks for the vid.
That guitar is a thing of beauty
Was just pseudo playing this yesterday. I think I'll try the slide part. That will really annoy the cats.
Man honestly great channel, love the songs you play
Really like the tone you got with the brass slide. First rate!
you are a great guitarist. please continue posting. I've learned a lot from following you.
Nicely done! Thanks
You're a beast sir.
yeah buddy, nice work
Fun one!!!! NICE
Sounds greatJJ. I want a Les Paul.thanks for sharing the song.
you can hear Rons influence on many stones songs too, right out the gate
the playing is great but finding that tone Ronnie had, it was in the copper they mined out of the GB back in the day, it was special for shore . . the live for saturday Faces stay ...
Perfect, mate.
Nice job, Dude!
One of the greatest rock n roll songs of all time. Sex, drugs and rock n roll.
Nice Job Dude!
Ronnie Wood, open E tuning 🎸🔥🤘🏻
Nice. Thanks.
Another amazing lesson.I can clearly see what both hands are doing. Any pedals on this one?
Just gain from the amp.
Love you Ronnie Wood and am praying for your your cancer to go away!! Of course, love Mr. James, too.
muy bueno - Q: is it bad for a guitar to leave it in open e for any length of time?
It probably wouldn't cause a problem, but I wouldn't leave one in open E permanently. There's added tension on the neck because those three strings are tuned up. You could tune to open D permanently -- same intervals, but a step lower and that would actually be less tension than standard.

still de best & thanks.
Hey James! What burst was this Les Paul here? I'd want to say iced tea but they are a bit darker. Is that aged cherry?
That one is from around 2001, and I think it's heritage burst. I sold it last year.
@@jamesjames9275 Thank you my friend! It's just right burst wise in my opinion. Not too overdone and it ages really well.

@@SebastianHalfpenny It wasn't quite as wide across the fretboard as I like, but it was C.

love it
ahaha....love it.....your slide playing is spot on...great job.....are you using your palm to mute or your index when you play slide?
Andy Wilkinson Yes, palm. But there’s not much technique to my slide playing.
You ever pull that bass off the wall and play it? :D
Such a good song, and also what year is that guitar? Sorry if you mentioned it in another video.
Moonie around 2002.
Nice. Thanks.

JAMES ´S THE BEST EVER
Hmmm, easier to play than it sounds - nice - thanks
woohoo nice
theres somethin new...the slide toss 😆
We need to start a band
No peer. Still the best
Brass slide?
Brass is better for tossing on the floor? (3:08)
so open e is the secret. I've been wondering this for 40 years. thanks! is it open e in the rhythm of the original?
Yes, he does the rhythm part in open E.
Yep alot of Woodys stuff is in Open E with the faces.
Fenderman 73 kick ass
In the ket of A?
E
yes

More or less, but I don't think he drinks coffee, and it'd be more like after dinner.
Its called time in the field 10.000 hrs and a good ear.lol
Whatever it is I hope he keeps doing it! Go Eagles! I'm proud to say I'm from Philly today!
Freeze
Small Faces or Faces?
This is the performance th-cam.com/video/MzWsax2omSM/w-d-xo.html
DO NOT ENERGIZE
Yeah, sounds like Sex Pistols. Rock on.
Steve was a big Faces fan before joining the Pistols.
James James i doubt he would’ve known how to tune to open E though lol. He had trouble staying in standard tuning
