Back when this song came out I was 17 and in my final year of high school. I was trying to learn to play guitar, with no teacher and no one beside me to tell me if it sounded good or bad. I was still struggling with Blowing in the Wind, and anything better than that (read: EVERYTHING) sounded way too complex for me. I didn't know about bottleneck playing, altered tunings, nothing! When you're self-taught you've got a fool for a teacher and an idiot for a student, after all. I bought the single, but just couldn't unlock this piece . . to the extent that I literally completely forgot about it. It'd come on the radio and I'd sing along, but never felt the slightest desire to grab my axe and play along. Until today. So, thanks for posting this.
