@@rockeye i can't say i agree there, i hear soul all over the place in his playing. not to mention hes younger than Derek Trucks and he's already this good? Dudes a beast
Mad quest vibes. Hard to really pin point a stand out talent here, the group as a whole slayed every beat on this masterpiece. I see this as a "If Pink Floyd Came out in 2024" type of thing.
Whole lot of Floyd fans holding their breath watching a band launch this song. Half way through the slide bit....big smile on my face. Amazing guys 😊.... had to be a blast to hear yourselves as well 😂
Shoutout to Chad Collins on drums! The guitar playing is insane, but the drums have a perfect vibe of ghost notes while still honouring the original! Awesome guys 🙌
Absolutely stunning… Pink Floyd is likely my favorite band of my entire life. I am hypercritical of covers, and so too is the rest of the world. Personalizing a Floyd song is mighty dangerous territory, especially one with vocals that literally can NOT be duplicated. The bar is impossibly high, and the penalty for failure is swift & severe. Having said that, this is the most amazing arrangement of a PF cover I have EVER heard. I am in AWE !!!!!! Thank you all for an amazing 9 minutes....
couldn't have worded it any better. You either do Floyd note for note or you stay far away from it. This challenges every bit of that, especially replacing arguably the most infamous lyrical performance ever yet absolutely hitting it out of the park.
When the break occurred and Dylan came in with the slide rendition of the vocal part at 1:43... The hair on my arms and back of my neck stood straight up...goose bumps bro....OUTSTANDING.
It's one thing to see players you love on TH-cam. Can you imagine the feelings everyone had getting to experience each other for the first time? Dylan's respect and appreciation for Rhett and vice versa are the things inspiration are made of.
I hope this blows up the internet! I've been excited for Dylan and Rhett to get together, and Jam. I feel so lucky to get to watch Dylan live fairly regularly.
Absolutely Amazing! As a Pink Floyd fan & my FAVORITE band, Ever...I'm Extremely hesitant when I see other bands cover Floyd tunes & most don't due Floyd's music justice. That being said - Love this cover & Y'all knocked it outta the park! Well done 😊
Yeah, covers make me wince 9 times out of 10… generally in good hands with Nashville musicians, though! If it’s Nashville people I tend to watch because i’m happy 9 times out of 10.
I come here expecting amazing stuff from Rhett and Dylan so can we talk about the rhythm section? Holy crap! Makes me want to practice! Damn fine playing!
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You. Real Musicians, Real Instruments, Real Music. 1-Take with no edits, no digital manipulation, no auto-tune, no cutting and pasting. Making good music Should be a challenge (in a good way) and should feel rewarding at the end of the day. In this era of digital shortcuts, artificially generated everything and relentless hype, I am glad you have embarked on this project. More of this, please, you are on the right track.
Wow, that was so awsome. No safety net, no editing, just laying down the track. Tight (by timing means) and loose (in improvisational freedom) at the same time. So amazing. Looking forward to the coming episodes of this series.
I've not heard of Dylan before. I'm halfway through listening to this video and I'm already a fan. Going to be looking for more of his stuff. Thanks Rhett for bringing him to my attention!
Pretty incredible, Dylan will go far in this music world and will certainly benefit from your help and guidance. I can't imagine what keys and vocals mught sound like with this band. Well done. Love the one take live to tape approach.
This is great - I love to hear talented musicians put they own inventive spin on great songs. But, going back to the composers of any great song, no matter what genre or century, I find it fascinating to try and understand what they first heard in their minds to put together such an amazing composition that would be enjoyed throughout the ages. A Massive thank you to the composers and a massive thank you to guys like this for keeping these great pieces at the forefront of us the listeners who can only dream of having such talent. Keep it going and keep growing.
I love this cover of Pink Floyd The Great Gig in the Sky it evokes the same emotions and grabs the same spirit as the original. It hits the strat osphere or say PRS Tele sphere.
Awesome! You should get Deacon Knight back together, add Dylan to the band and make some more great music. I'm sure I'm not the only one who would love that.
Main Squeeze did an amazing cover of this song a couple years ago, and I wasn’t sure if anyone could come close to it. You guys absolutely crushed this!!! Congrats Rhett, Dylan and gang on an amazing track!!
This is a great concept for a YT series. Human musicians, playing instruments, improvising, playing with emotion and feel. Organic and real. Attributes that no computer can only imitate, but never replicate or replace.
1:22 Damn when this slide guitar kicks in... The attention to detail of while making it sound like the world is crying sounds awesome! Never seen it played like this before 🥰
The only issue I had with the original was that it wasn’t long enough. I wanted more. This scratched that itch and I would buy this on iTunes in a heartbeat. Excellent work. Also hearing the original vocal melody at the start of when Dylan comes in, really makes you appreciate how she used her voice as an instrument (as per instructed by DG). But my god, that has to go down as one of the best vocal performances ever recorded, and this has done it some serious justice 🎉
This formula is GOLD! You and Dylan together are magical and compliment each other perfectly. The arrangement was on point. Not too close and not too far from the original. I was mesmerized from start to finish and couldn't take my eyes and ears off this. Would love to see this project grow into something that could be compiled into an album.
Absolutely sublime. Crushing glorious solo by Rhett. Some of the greatest slide playing, if not the best, I’ve heard. Amazing rhythm section and sound. I’m blown away
Using your platform to elevate an incredible player and giving us one of I hope a bunch of cool performances, is really putting some good into the world. Respect.
Dylan entrance made me weep. Like wow. I cried thru the whole song. Talk about evoking some emotion. Now I understand why George Harrisons guitar made me gently weep. Bro I was full on uncontrollable balling. Wow. I work in the industry. Bravo
Wow, just incredible. This has been one of my all time favorite songs since I first heard it many moons ago. You guys are absolutely KILLING! If this what’s in store for fans of this channel, then the “live to tape” idea will definitely be one of the best things on TH-cam. And to pick Great Gig in the Sky as the first piece took some serious balls!😂 Looking forward to seeing what else ya’ll have to offer. 🤘🏻
Rippin’ it! Really enjoying the new project, recording together live. Takes guts but that’s where the real magic happens. Wishing you guys loads of the magic in 2024.
What a kick ass tribute, in a completely unique style. Doing such an iconic vocal piece on slide is genious... the ability to curve around notes with the added raw edge of that prs, sweeet
Wow, that was fantastic. You guys absolutely killed it and the passing back and forth between Dylan and Rhett had me jamming with you guys. Please more of this 👏🏼👏🏼
dmn! that was great. great piece, still gives me shivers after 40+ years... and you were just killing it! this song is so intense and hard to play cause so few can replicate that singer's feeling and intensity and voice that elevates this song. But you have nailed it great. All. And man, Dylan is a beast!
The clip ends with “You guys were killing in my ears!” Damn right! I watched the video twice I just didn’t have enough… Simply delightful! The execution is crazy good, the sound is awesome, I love hearing the room in the snare, it really gives a live feel to the recording. The dynamic is there as well, not too compressed. You guys are killing it! We need more of these… very inspirational, I’ll go grab my guitar now :) thank you!
Great playing by all. Have you all been practising together? I'd like to see a short follow up video discussing how it got made/arranged, how it was mixed and if anyone was unhappy or ecstatic about any parts.
Plot twist! I was totally not expecting Dylan to be in your basement studio. I figured he did his take over yours at home. Way cool! Glad to see you guys collab with Dylan because he’s a force. I hope to see more of Dylan and you guys doing stuff!
My sincerest apologies. I should''ve watched this 7 months ago when it came out. Glad you posted this to show everyone that you're not just some wannabe TH-camr. This is top notch playing/musicianship by everyone in the room! And Dylan Adams is just on another level here!!

Dylan has the same intensity and emotion as Duane and Derek, but he sounds 100% like himself. Unreal talent
That's an amazing tone he gets
Great tone, great phrasing. Also Chad Collins destroying it on drums. Pocket is unreal.
also, Rhett your playing always reminds me of why i continue to pick up a guitar. you always look and sound like you're having fun. Great stuff!

Those birds on the PRS didn't even know what hit'em. Incredible playing by everyone. More of this please.

Everyone rightfully giving Dylan lots of credit, but let’s not overlook the drummer laying it DOWN! Love his fills and pocket
