This whole controversy shook me for a while: how could I know that I was getting the true Word? Then I remembered that I’m saved, sealed, and held by God Himself. My Savior will not let me be led astray while I’m trusting Him and studying His word (I tend to wander back and forth between the KJV, NASB, and NIV) and seeking Him.
Yup. No worries. Any literal translation that has been translated from the earliest manuscripts can be trusted. I primarily study from the NASB,but my early life i was raised in a KJV only family. I went to NIV, and I do have some issues with the NIV, but not any to where I would say it is useless. I prefer the NASB, but I use an ESV daily for reading at work. And as soon as the new translation that Justin Peters has been talking about, as well as MacArthur, I'll be getting it for my primary study bible. The name slips my mind, but it rightly translates the Old Testament word LORD as YHWH. That really means a lot to me because thats how I read the Old Testament out loud to my family. I use the tetragammon in the place of LORD.

Our God is a jealous God!" and another person said "How is that possible? The Word of God says in Galatians 5:20 that jealousy is a work of the flesh. Jealousy is a sin!" and the reason he is confused is because he used an ESV just like you. The ESV says jealousy is a work of the flesh, but my King James does not let you believe that. Your ESV is missing a complete sentence that is not even mentioned in your margin notes. The missing sentence is in Romans 11:6. GOD SAYS THAT MAN LIVES BY every WORD OF GOD. Every Word. I am a missionary and have had people in U.S. churches ask what version we use. I tell them the language version we use and they ask what it was translated from.

Jay May I've often wondered what happens to all the peoples of the world that don't speak English and have to rely on a translation in their own language. I'd imagine that the KJO people will say that other languages must be translated from the original 1600s King James bible! God bless you and your familys and the great work that you're doing.
Some KJVOCs believe and some preach you MUST translate from the KJ or the translation is corrupt. I hear the Japanese Bible is based upon the NIV. At the end of the day, 1 Sam 16:7 God looks at the heart. If your “heart” belief is Christ, all the rest of this nonsense is... ...nonsense
I’m sure you can find some fool somewhere who will say anything but you are just imagining what your version of a KJV only person would say. All I’ve ever heard any of them say is that the KJV is perfect word of God in English and that to be perfect in any other language it needed to be translated from the same source texts. Keith Hinton Deut 4:2, 12:32, Proverbs 30:5-6, Mt 5:18, & Rev 22:18-19, and any other similar or like passages apply ONLY to the original Hebrew, Aramaic, & Koine Greek. The truth behind the facts: They NEVER apply to ANY translation including the KJ as none are perfect, inspired, or authoritative. Adding, changing, and the occasional word removal is an unavoidable, inevitable part of the translation process. When I was a Bible College student I had an NASB/Ryrie Study Bible and an RSV; I am blessed by the Word of God through those translations as my verse memorization and prayers comes through them. The study part helped me enormously in College and out of it. Looking *very much* forward to my LSB Bible that I've ordered for myself and my husband!
Though subjective, my testimony of KJV I was a teen when I got Saved . Knew very little of Bible before then. God did use a 'Living Bible' 1975 to look up verses Luke 16, Rev 4, from Billy Graham telecast. Was led to a Baptist Church, Got a KJV and GOD Blessed my Soul by its Words. When I went to college, began reading NIV, felt it was hollow, No Glory to GOD in my Soul. Went back to KJV, and many fellow students from IVCF, including a reformed pastor ridiculed me for merely using a KJV. Not judging those who uses otherwise, but the modern versions, did not edify my faith , at once I tasted the Word's of KJV A wise pastor who believed like me, but maybe wasn't up on all the research said that since 1611 , that was the Philadelphia period of Church History , Modern Missions, which millions were saved and blessed. He wisely said, " Life Is too Short, Eternity Too Long" for me Not to use GOD's Best, which is the KJV.

Came to the knowledge of our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ and His divinity using my KJV. At the end of the day that is what matters. If your version does that, mission accomplished.

I have and I have read from the KJV, NKJV, NLT (The one I have taught Sunday School and spoke in church with) and I'd love to see John MacArthur's newest come out in a full Bible, not just the NT and a couple of the OT books. I'm all for reading and understanding the Bible in the modern languages, but NEVER when the translators change, compromise or make The Scriptures "PC". @Timothy Babona In my own NLT, It's footnoted certain scriptures as "some manuscripts contain..." When I read outloud from it and the scripture is footnoted, guess what? I READ IT! My way of saying "Why did these dummies do this to a critical piece of scripture?" As for "The Message," I use Bible Gateway" to access other translations, including KJV and NLT. I read Acts 4:12 and Revelation 13 in "The Message." 1. The authority in those scriptures feel like they were gutted out. 2. I felt actual IQ points leaving my mind as I read it! It is so dumbed down. From here on out, let's agree to rename "The Message" to "The Mess!" SHAME ON THE MESS!
The nuances in Hebrew or Greek can be vital. So it does get to be a challenge to convey from one language to another. I have gotten pretty good in my Hebrew but am still working on the Greek.
I just ordered a new Bible, I had came out of the Charismatic Movement and had a Scofield study Bible KJV. I am no longer a dispensationalist or Arminian. I am learning so much it’s amazing so I’ve ordered a reformation study Bible.
As someone who left the Scofield / dispensation camp can you please explain to me what dispensation actually is. I know they say it means that God deals with people differently in different times but I don't understand how that relates to pre trib rapture. What made you leave? What is Arminism? Tks so much
I recently switched from NKJV, to KJV and i love it. It took a bit to get use to it, but i read my bible more now than i ever have. Also, no one should be attacking you for not using KJV only. But with that being said, there are a lot of watered down versions, so be careful. God Bless you Justin!❤
In what way are the translations "watered down" Alexandra? Do you think there is an agenda that seeks to weaken the scriptures? I'm of the opinion that it's the other way. The newer versions, I'm told, draw on more material. And the attitudes of those KJV translators would have been slanted by the church views at large. And the church views were only just appearing from a dark period.
@@robertcain3426 The NIV, ESV, NLT, those 3 alone, leave out certain verses. For example, and please do your own research on this too, Acts 8:37 is in the KJV, but the other 3 versions have left it out. Now why would any version of the Bible want to leave out a verse that ends with 'I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God'? Please look up that verse, and compare it to different versions. I guarantee there's only one place you will find Acts 8:37, and that's in the KJV. Do your research, God Bless and have a good day 🙂

At least with the ESV, the verses that are "left out" like the verse from Acts you quoted are included in a footnote with an explanation referring to the differences in early manuscripts. Same as how ESV notes Mark 16:9-20 varies in some early manuscripts.
@@alexandrabohon2671 The new translations don’t leave out these verses. The KJV has added theses verses! These verses do not appear in the earlier texts which are much older than the texts which were used then the KJV was formulated. These older texts are more reliable because they are more closer to Christ’ actual time period. At some time along the way, these extra verses were added by someone. Do your research also. There were many, many more manuscripts available for translation when the newer Bibles were translations came about verses the King James. Blessings in Christ.
@@alexandrabohon2671 Acts 8: 37 is not included but is included in the footnotes. The KJV is difficult to understand given the style of English was for an audience who spoke differently. It's still sounds to me as though you believe there is some kind of conspiracy at work, which is the prime argument that is always put forth by KJV devotees. It is true the institutional churches are increasingly coming under heavy influence from the world to bow to its view of righteousness which goes against the Word of God. This is happening now, and for some time, because the institutional church used to rule over Western society. But not do now. She has lost her power to rule in the world, 'along with kings of the earth'. Now the church is increasingly looked upon as being 'unrighteous' in accordance with the humanistic spirit of man which ruled the West - the old Roman Empire - before the church usurped power to rule through the Holy Roman Catholic church. Though, nothing holy about it. This is God's will to bring her - the institutional church, which colluded to rule society, to account. For it was never mandated that the church rule over society as other religions of Babylon rule over their respective societies. Rev.17

There are literally hundreds of pseudo-Christian cults out there that claim to be “following Jesus Christ and the Bible” and they ALL quote this verse too. From Mormons to Jonestown, from the Black Hebrew Israelites to Jehovah’s Witnesses, ALL false heretical groups can quote this verse. Is that supposed to prove each group is correct? Of course not. I read the New American Standard Bible, and I have for many many years. I think the point is to get into a Bible. Any verified Bible can feed spiritual milk to any believer who trusts in Christ, humans will argue about just about anything. I highly doubt anyone went to hell for reading the “wrong bible”. We are saved by grace alone.

I was raised on King James. Much of what I can quote is still King James. I never thought of it as "only" because I was not aware of anything else. Through James White, I have learned a little bit about how our Scripture came to be. I have also discovered there is no perfect translation. So saying that I read the only Scripture that is perfect, the NASB, is not only incorrect but it is arrogant. Paul didn't speak in King James' English.

No he didn’t speak in King James English. He didn’t speak in ANY English so one type of English isn’t any better than another in that respect. However 1611 English was a much more precise version of English with a lot more words that added shades of meaning as well as differentiating singular and plural. Something todays English has lost. Thee, thou, thine, thy-singular. Ye, you, yours-plural.
There are good translations and bad translations to be sure. There are translations that are basically mistranslations because they change the meaning of the scriptures as delivered once and for all. However, the King James has been revised over time as you stated and English is a very fluid language which has changed significantly over time. I know many young people today who struggle mightily with the original language of Shakespeare in English and literature classes because of the heavy influence of Middle English is SO different from modern English. If you read the original Beowulf in its original form is virtually unintelligible to speakers of modern English. I prefer the American Standard myself because I think it is closest to the original meaning and translations but in modern English. There are however a large number of people even today that even pray in "King James English" with lots of "Thee's and Thou's" like that's somehow "more holy" or "more acceptable to God", when it really isn't anything more than unintentional showmanship at best and self-deception at worst. As you said, it all comes down to being vigilant in DISCERNMENT and checking up on things. Plenty of people twist the KJV to mean things it doesn't mean by taking things out of context without the need of mistranslations. Later! OL J R :)
KJV is sometimes less wishy-washy and had blunter translations in some verses. I prefer truth to soft peddling. But in other places, it's a bit whacked.
@@leia072306 Every person is either in the process of salvation (though not completed until the redemption of the body; see Rom. 8:23; 13:11) or the process of destruction. One's response to the cross of Christ determines which. To the Christ-rejectors who are in the process of being destroyed (Eph. 2:1,2) the gospel is nonsense. To those who are believers it is powerful wisdom.
If people are so stubborn on reading only one translation then they might as well learn Greek and Hebrew. I mean they put up such a fuss about preserving God's word so they might as well learn the original language the manuscripts were written in.
If I want to read an old translation, I turn to the Geneva Bible. The bottom line is that I can and do defend the tenets of the Christian faith from any literal translation, meaning KJV, NKJV, ASV, NASB, ESV, Interlinear. The Bibles to be skeptical of are paraphrases. These can be very confusing and just wrong in translating the original tongues. The KJV was one of the best English translations that could be made at the time it was written and it served it's purpose for many centuries. But modern readers of the English Bible should be aware that the original 1611 reading would prove almost impossible for modern people to read and understand. It was effective in it's time and used English that was understood at the time. Also, it needs to be said that the KJV has been modified numerous times in the time since it was originally published to keep up with the changing English language. In summary, I don't think the KJV is the best translation to use with a modern person simply because there is a need to translate some of the English words used into a modern vernacular. I don't see the purpose of adding this complication to the process of presenting the gospel.
How did the Church survive all those years before "King James" was even born? Imagine the Bible was not right until "King James" came along to set us straight! ; )
They still had the books of the prophets, the law, and the revelations revealed to the Apostles by the Holy Ghost in their epistles written to specific churches. Then, we combined it all together.

The original manuscripts (autographs) are inspired. In the Hebrew (OT) and the Greek (NT) The KJV is a translation. A very good one, but still a translation. The message and essential gospel is very much consistent in the NKJ, NAS (1901) ESV. You are responsible to believe the gospel, as we are saved by faith. Don’t confuse the truth of God’s Word with minor variations in translating words from the Greek and Hebrew. Big mistake

I am not part of any KJVO group but I only use the KJB. It is a literary masterpiece, the most beautiful and accurate piece of literature this world has ever known. I had at one time , 22 translations but they all fell short. Even the thees and the thous of the KJB is 100 % accurate. All the "T" pronouns , Thee, Thine, Thy are singular and all the "Y "pronouns, Ye , you , your, are plural. I have never found another version that has ever improved on the KJB.
I also agree that the KJV cannot be improved upon. But I was willing to hear out this interview. Conclusion: I’m not quite convinced by the interviewer’s arguments but I will not criticize another true believer who uses a “sane” non-KJV version.
In John 3:16, the KJV says “only begotten Son” whereas other Bible versions say “one and only Son” or “only Son.” If Jesus is God’s only son, then how can you, or any of us be sons of God. The KJV gives a much clearer distinction of the meaning. Also the wording of KJV Matthew 25: 25b is not hard to understand. It means you have what is yours. The subtle and obvious mistranslations are having a devastatingly detrimental effect on the meaning of God’s word. This in turn will eventually make way for a new gospel, unfortunately.
NASB says “only begotten”. Note that “Son” is capitalized in the other versions which clues us into the one of a kind nature of Jesus’ relationship with God (compared to “sons of God”. I don’t think using “only begotten” or capitalizing “only Son” makes it super clear (who today naturally knows what “only begotten” means?) though, so further study is required in both cases.
@@JohnGodwin777 I know what “only begotten” means and I am sure that most people who read the King James and are interested in God’s Word know what it means. As in everything in the Bible, one must study and ask God for those things that are hard to understand. It is not necessary nor right to change the Word of God because of laziness and ignorance on man’s part.
This is another issue causing division in the church. I prayed about this very thing. I was truly saved while reading a NIV Bible. NO ONE can say that I wasn't. I am now reading the NASB. Does this mean I am a heretic because I do not read a KJV? This controversy is unnecessary because God knows your heart. It's no wonder people turn away from anything "religious" and do not want anything to do with God. We make it hard for them because we tell them they must read this Bible and not that one. This is between you and God. The Holy Spirit will teach you the right way. Take man out of it because they only confuse the issue. I was brought up reading the KJV, and I still feel nothing matches the beauty of its language and accuracy. But I love my NKJV Christian Life Bible, and it's the one I use now. Through the wonders of the internet I actually use several different versions to augment my NKJV. That being said, I will not tolerate the opinion that the re is something wrong with the KJV or NKJV. .

@@someguy9519 when I went to college in 82 my roommate had a copy of the good news bible. It was very excited to see how easy to read it was to read. I enjoyed reading it very much esp. In proverbs. I still stick with the KJV but I don't condemn people who say they cannot understand the kjv. I would rather people read the good news version than read nothing at all.
This is very informative. I didn't know KJV only was a thing until recently, but coming out of the NAR/WOF world I almost jumped into that boat myself. It takes a while to figure out which way is up when your world gets turned upside down like that. Thank you!
In the year 2011 I saw a copy / reprint of the 1611 KJV . I could read it but my friends and family couldn’t. For example: the letter “f” used in type set for the “s” in actual use and sound of the word. I’m a history nut so I’m accustomed to reading this also in copies of hand written letters of the colonial period of the USA. Franklin, Jefferson, and Paine . As for all of the THEES &. THOUS it’s not that difficult to learn it. People like that stuff in Harry Potter movies. There, the older the book the closer to original it’s considered. But with Bible it’s often an excuse to not read it. With some , not all . Final word.....? When people have it too easy they pick on one another. Let half the Earth 🌍 fall off and no one would be arguing over which translation you have.
My first Bible was a KJV. That's all pastors preached out of during the 80s when I was a little girl . Now my hubby and I have half a dozen translations. I enjoy reading out of different ones. I have read paraphrases like GW but prefer ones closer to word for word translation. I was all about NKJV for several years, but now I'm reading out of the ESV, NIV and NRSV. My favorite now is the NASB.

When I was earnestly seeking the Lord a friend gave me a KJV Bible and I was thankful for the Elizabethan English as it slowed my reading down as I sought to understand it. This caused me to ponder the meaning much more thoroughly than I would’ve if it had been in modern English. The bosses of the Christian business that I was working for at the time gave me a Ryrie NASB New Testament which I devoured after making my decision to become a follower of Jesus. Then I bought a compact KJV leather bound Bible which had a reference section in the back that gave the modern definition of words used in the KJV which had changed meaning and it proved quite useful. Then when the NKJV came out I ordered one for myself and my fiancé who became my wife. Although I have several other versions for reference my everyday reader is a NKJV. After 43 years I still prefer a Bible translation based on the Textus Receptus for the New Testament. In my opinion the best translation is one that gets read daily and I’m not dogmatic on what version that is, but I do find that some translations, and many paraphrase versions, seem to water down sound doctrine which is concerning.
Even though I am from an independent fundamental baptist church, but my pastor is not like those folks like Gail Riplinger and Peter Ruckman. I am not against the King James translation, but the movement Yes.

@Timothy Salomon Not true, Jehovas wit. have their own favorite bible. I think the NIV. And Mormons use the KJV. Yet they are indoctrinated and blind. KJV is the most accurate version in english. That's fact. We have that also in other language like german for example. We have bibles more accurate then others. However, NiV and almost all modern translations after 2010 are questionable in all languages.

I would have a real problem with anything from the Westcott and Hort school. These weren t men of a reformed background , there is information on them. I got sucked into the KJV only cult for a time as a young, twenty-something believer who hadn't been discipled as a new believer. They had me scared to death that I didn't have the "real" Word of God with my newer, more readable Bible. I don't recall what finally got me out of it, but I was happy to leave it behind.
What got me out of it was that people I trusted explained that some new versions were actually more faithful/conservative. This comment will NOT be persuasive to KJVO folks, though.

Concerning verse 8 of James chapter 1, let's look at what he was talking about... The subject surrounding James 1:2-8 is talking about "Profiting from trials". But for time, let's go to James 1:5-8 "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach (6) "But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. (7) For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; (8) he is a double minded man, unstable in all his ways. (NKJV) Now what does James 1:8 mean? A literal translation of the Greek expression that denotes having one's mind or soul divided between God and the world. Thumbs-downs don't actually _hurt_ a channel. In fact, they actually help the analytics because they show that people are interacting, which is what TH-cam likes to see. They don't really care HOW that happens, only that it DOES happen. I'll bet the people who regularly leave thumbs-down won't like to hear that. Since I discovered this, I rarely leave a thumbs-down anymore. If you dislike a video badly enough to leave a thumbs-down, it doesn't make a lot of sense to leave ANYTHING that will help promote the channel.
I'm still watching the video but the other commentor is right. Down voting a video is engagement as far as TH-cams algorithm is concerned, and all engagement is good engagement. The down votes here on Justin's channel probably have more to do with people who don't like him for standing up to error within the church, which is actually pretty funny when you consider my last paragraph. Fred, thank you for doing this video. I am not KJVO, but might be called “TR preferred,” maybe. I read from the KJV and NKJV about 90% of the time, and from the CSB and NLT the other 10%. One of the things that hangs me up is John 8-the adulteress. If God’s word to us is inerrant, how did it pick up a false story that hitchhiked its way into the scriptures, becoming one of the very most famous passages about Jesus, and thus making the scriptures given to man “errant” for 1,000 years? I’m not trying to challenge you; I’m asking a genuine question that I struggle with. How do we say that scripture is God breathed and inerrant one moment, and then turn around and say it was wrong for a 1,000 years, but we fixed it the next? I don’t have as much of a struggle with the latter ending of Mark, as at worst, someone just paraphrased at the end-maybe something like a more “dynamic translation” of the day. 😊. However John 8, if it never happened and is untrue, would just be a fabricated made up story about Jesus that Christians believed was true for most of Christianity. How does one believe that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God, but also believe that we needed to take out the phony parts and correct it? I just can’t seem to come to terms with this. I use several different versions, but I do shy away from Bibles that change the meaning of verses. I read the KJV, but study from NKJV, NASB and CSB, I think there is much to be gained by praying before we read or study any scripture and letting the creator of the word guide us.
I study and carry to church the KJV. I do read other versions and if you enjoy reading a particular translation than by all means do so but let the Holy Spirit and yourself test the word that you are using for your worship. Also don’t divide over translations with your fellow brothers in Christ. There are bigger issues to debate over.

I'm amazed at some of the arguments put forward. As a missionary who worked for 45 years in France and Belgium, was I supposed to use the KJV? The French versions are based on texts that were available to Calvin. The Wycliffe Bible Translators are seeking to reach out to people who don't have any version at all. God's word is intended to preached to the whole world, not just to the English-speaking one. God bless your ministry.
Why would you think you’re being told to use any English translation in a non English speaking country? KJV only people, except for a lunatic fringe just believe the KJV is the superior ENGLISH translation.
I used to be a Kings James only Christian. But then, God blessed me and allowed me to go to Western Baptist College, now Corban University, in Salem, Oregon. My Bible professors there showed me how we actually get Bible translations. Through their teachings, God showed me that we have very reliable translations today, it's not King James only.
I love the King James version because I learned from it as a child and it’s beautiful and everything I have memorized is in that language. But now I also read NKJV and ESV. Thank you for this interesting and informative discussion

As a user of the KJV, NASB, and ESV I hope that never happens. As a missionaries kid growing up with my father leaving Australia to run around Fiji, the Marshall Islands, New Caledonia, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, etc for the cause of Bible translation, I have seen more damage done to the furtherance of the Great Commission by King James onlyist on the mission field than any other schism.

Mr Peters.. I was a young Christian about 35 years ago. I was growing sturdy and grounded in the Lord. I found out it is true if there is a whole in your armor or a weak spot in your psyche the devil will find it . Well who would have the my Bible which I held to every day to learn to live my life by would be the thing that was my weak spot. Sure enough fellow Christians started telling me the King James was not the full word of God, it was flawed , can't be trusted , must read other versions . I thought all versions were the same just had a different name except for the living bible which i was told was written in story book style so people could understand it better. It took about two years to wear me down but worn down i did get. I am said to say I did not read my Bible for years., It really did a number on me to my core.. I wanted the truth I thought the King James was as close to original as anyone could get. My trust in myself and I guess God to keep me in His truth was shattered. I finally started to pray about it saying God I know I can't go forever not reading your Word,, I need the fear of reading false scripture to be taken , help me to come to conclusion , to peace about it all and what to read. I went back to King James but also realize others are good to ,, so I compare when i read KJ, ESV, NASV. I am still not one to read a story type Bible. Although this was years ago now , this video was good for me to hear.

I was taught to use different versions (and a thesaurus) in Bible study, as doing so can really help our understanding. Having said that, I briefly held a KJV-only stance (for the same reasons he described). It didn't last long, because I came to understand the difference between formal and dynamic equivalencies. I do, however, shun paraphrases.
Thank you for the video Justin! English is my 2nd language, but when I was saved it was through listening to preaching from KJV, and it was in an environment of KJV only. Had to study it quite a bit to understand it, as the language changed and so in the beginning when I was reading it, it seemed like it had contradictions, which I knew there couldn't be any, if it's God's word. While continuing to read my Bible I kind of started to drift away from KJV version only view, though still reading KJV, but starting to branch out and no longer thinking KJV was the only right one! Then later I started researching the philosophy behind different translations and their aims. I translate some tracts myself and look at passages from different versions and languages including the original ones and have had dilemmas in the past in how to translate certain ideas and how to do it between two very different cultures. Then I stumbled across textual criticism, Dan Wallace and Grant Jones among others, and it was immensely helpful to me to understand the processes behind translations and copying manuscripts, and to be able to articulate it to others too! Still read KJV for devotions, as I think the language is beautiful and it's a literary masterpiece, but when studying I use different versions (more on the "word for word" side), excited to add LSB to these! KJV only view seems to bring to mind the point about the reformation and how the Catholic church did not want for people to have God's word in a language they could understand.
As long as you believe that Jesus Christ was God and man and that he died for your sins. That he was raised from the dead . By grace through faith alone that you are saved... the theologies can be translated differently.. this is why I don’t spend too much time arguing about which English version of Greek and Hebrew are the most correct. As long as our teachers and preachers are explaining to us the history and cultures of the times and the language used for best English translation, then we’re all ok!
At 52:31, Mr. Peters refers to Matthew 25v25b where the KJV says "lo, there thou hast that is thine" and then he proceeds to say that most English speaking people wouldn't know what that means. I must confess, at first and completely out of context, I didn't realize what it meant. So, I opened up to that section and read the whole verse and saw that this is within the parable of the talents. When I saw the context of the verse before it and the complete verse, it was very easy to me to understand it when I saw the full sentence. The servant is saying to the master "here is the talent you gave me that is rightfully yours". For anyone who knows English, doesn't have a reading disability, is at a reasonable reading level, and would give a genuine effort to understand what is being said, I would wager they are very likely to understand it. Normally I get a lot of encouragement and education from Mr. Peters' videos, but I'm overall disappointed in this one. This interview would have been a perfect opportunity to show the distinctive degrees of KJV-only-ism, what they mean and what's right and wrong about each of them, but instead this was an almost hour long strawman bashing session. Some people believe that the KJV is the one and only word of God even above the original autographs in the original language. I am not that person. Some people believe that the KJV is the only approved Bible in English. Again, I wouldn't go that far. However, there are sometimes some very different interpretations or even outright omissions of key verses among the modern translations. I would be EXTREMELY interested in Mr. Peters doing a video that goes through at least the major examples of these differences, why the differences are there, and what is an appropriate response to them. If there isn't anything to be leery of about modern versions, then that should be an easy slam dunk video to do whether in long format all at once or in short format across multiple videos. It really is a very important topic to cover considering how much of our faith in Jesus comes from the Bible (John 20v31). Despite what these gentleman said, there is merit to the underlying argument that Christians should absolutely INSIST that any translation they are reading from should be as accurate as possible without any insertions or deletions or agenda crept in. Satan would love nothing more that to propagate a corrupted Bible because that would make his job much easier. At the end of Revelation, it is written that there is a grave warning against those who would dare mess with and try to alter the Word (Revelation 22v18-19). It's not a coincidence that this warning appears right at the end of the canon. Why else would that warning be there unless God knew in time there would be people that would attempt that very thing? A beware sign only makes sense if the threat it represents is real. This isn't something that can just be hand waived away because your favorite pastor or teacher says not to worry about it. If a translation is not faithful and not fully correct, it can lead to a full on cult. Just look at John 1v1 and compare the KJV to the NWT that the Jehovah's Witnesses cult uses. They deny the deity and Godhead membership of Jesus Christ by adding A SINGLE LETTER to the verse! Lastly, I want to say that I am not of an opinion that either of these men are not Christians. I believe they are and I hope my comment is not taken to be an attack on either of them personally or professionally. If a modern translation could be done that was in modern English AND was faithful to the uncorrupted underlying texts, I'd be all for it. Until that shows up though (or maybe it already exists and I haven't seen it yet), when studying or leading my family, KJV is the first translation I will always go to. When reading the (A)KJV, at least I don't worry in the back of mind if I am reading something that has that been tampered with through negligence or nefariously been corrupted. If you, the person reading this comment, are comfortable with a Bible that has mistakes and you're not concerned about whether or not God can preserve His own Word, then this whole topic won't be of much interest to you, but please, at the very least do not be deceived into thinking that all Bibles basically say the same thing. THEY DON'T. If anyone is interested in examples, reply to my comment and I'll be happy to provide them.
I fully agree. They just grouped any KJV onlyist to one giant lump, took the most extreme or radical version of KJV onlyism, and then demonized the whole group through that lens. Very uncharitable, very unchristian, a very-modern-day-media-take-on-christianity method. I don't doubt their profession of JC, but unfortunately, it works in their interest and to their advantage to work in such a muddy and not-clean and conflating manner. There are degrees of KJVO that is not extreme, not as how these guys presented that side.
One thing thing that would be a real bummer for a KJV only position is if a person doesn't happen to speak English. For example there wasn't a Central African translation for the word snow. Until recent advances in refrigeration they'd never seen water in any form but liquid of gas. And there are actually many other such untranslatable, culturalisms.
I seen a video of Fighting for the Faith exposing the KJV only cult. And I am glad Chris Rosebrough did. I know a man who is King James only and every other is unacceptable to him as far as translating God's Word goes.
I think that Jesus would like us to be United in Spirit and in Truth. I think anyone who is not grounded in Jesus, never was a true believer. I just prefer the KJV,, it doesn’t bother me what others read or uses as long as Jesus is lifted up as the Only Way and Truth. Fortunately for me, I studied Shakespeare for quite a few years for pleasure and really enjoy King James, and in my head I know in modern English what's being said, lol! So I read KJV and I know it really says as per Matthew 25:25....."see, there you have what is yours." Currently I am loving the New King James after reading only KJV...coming from an English family. I am not pedantic about bible versions although have not read NASB or others before. I made a video : Do you love the word of God? Or are you a Pharisee? on my channel only the other day saying that whatever Bible you read, God is in it, and stop arguing about translations! I was raised on the KJV and I'm probably most comfortable with it, but I also enjoy seeing other translations now that it's so easy to do thanks to technology. I never could understand how having a conviction that the Bible is God's Word is problematic. I read in the Bible where it says, "whatsoever is not of faith is sin." Some believe that we don't have God's Word, but we're getting there. Each new translation is moving closer to what God actually said through the prophets, Apostles, and Jesus Christ himself. Others like myself believe that we have a infallible record of exactly what they said - therefore, we have the Word of God. We're not waiting for unenlighted men to tell us what God said and recorded each revision of their translations. We know what he said, because IT IS WRITTEN! That settles it for me...
I left my KJV only church 4 years ago, but still held to my KJV only beliefs until about a month ago. I defended Ruckman, Riplinger, Gipp, etc. What finally did me in was the realization that you cannot actually know where manuscripts were written, so it was just silly to call them from the "Alexandrian cult" who nefariously forged thousands of bad copies.

I actually love the KJV. Worked for hundreds of years and the reformers all cherished their KJV bibles as well. Little disappointed in this to say the least. I’ve read the ESV, NIV, NLT, and even the Message. No one ever discouraged me from reading those “modern translations.” However, the KJV is attacked frequently. God persevered His Word. You, of course, are correct. AIl l needed to realize that all other translations have been demonically inspired was the alteration to KJV Revelation 5:9-10. Their evil attempt to remove the biblical truth that The Church is inside the throne room of God BEFORE the opening of the first seal and the onset of the tribulation. The first person pronouns of (us, us, we) have been changed to third person pronouns (them, them, they). Very subtle change, but dramatic for Christ Believers.
I wouldn't recommend any paraphrased translations (the Message, the Passion) but these men are not denouncing the KJV. They are simply saying that those who say the KJV is the ONLY true Word of God are wrong. I agree with them. I personally love the NKJV because it is easier to understand, for me, than the KJV. Please allow others to state their beliefs (these men are known to love God) without accusing them of attacking the KJV.
I found myself in a Facebook discussion with KJV onlyists on one occasion. My response to their arguments was that my wife, whose native language is Spanish, cannot read and understand KJV, so essentially, she can't possibly be saved or know the truth because she reads various Spanish translations of the scriptures.

You are also implying that a MAN translating text from Greek or Hebrew is more intelligent than God and able to twist God's words to the point that they are no longer effectual. If you read an entire block of text (several verses together) with three translations side by side, and then add the Greek or Hebrew translation, you will find that the concept God desires to communicate is found in each of them.

I learned scripture from the kjv bible for almost 10 years now, and I believe there's nothing wrong with other bibles. Also there is nothing wrong with the kjv, all bibles can bring someone to Christ. I wouldn't make fun of the kjv
Spent 37 years in the prosperity gospel message and studied under the predominate leaders and was taught kjv only bible. After really getting saved and knowing Jesus, I found that some other translations were easy to understand, although may not be perfect in every word translated, but able to understand what I read so as to feed my faith. Currently using MacArthur study bible ESV and Reformation study bible ESV, but also a bunch of other study material to satisfy my longing for knowledge of God's Word. How could anyone today understand the gospel if it was only preached in KJV? Might as well speak Hebrew or Greek.
The exact opposite happened to me....i was not a kjv only proponent until our new pastor started bringing calvinism into our church. We had previously been kjv preferred until this new pastor decided that the esv was a better translation, assuring us that no doctrine is changed in the newer versions. So i was okay with it, until our doctrine started changing to calvinism, which i reject outright. It was at this time that i started seriously comparing the versions, and have concluded that doctrine indeed has been changed in the newer versions.
I got my Legacy Bible, so far so good. It is used with my Reformation Study Bible and MacArthur study Bible. It is interesting comparing those to the NIV and Tyndale commentaries.

I was reading comments on a Christian radio on YT and these women were arrogant and saying people who didn’t use KJB only were going to HELL. They were serious and I was shocked.
This is because Satan is a deceiver. It is easy to see the vast difference in text between the kjv and modern versions when you start looking into yourself. How entire chapters are removed, how the deity of Jesus is remove and so on. But remember, Satan is the father of lies and the great deceiver, his agents exist very much in the church, too. @@wyldgoose There are many errors in the KJV. People think it came down from Heaven on a cloud. I use the KJV, NIV 1984 and NASB 1995. Anything newer is politically correct and corrupt. When I find the errors I just mark it. If anyone ever seen the original 1611 KJV they would be shocked. It is unreadable!! So it has been revised many times.

The early Church was not primarily in North Africa. While there were quite a few Christians in NA from the late 1st century and 2nd century on, there were also large numbers of Christians in Syria, the area now know as Turkey, Macedonia and Greece, and on the Italian peninsula.
The KJV-only crowd kills me. If they want to claim to adhere to the oldest English translation of God's Word, then I recommend they put away their KJVs and find a Tyndale Bible, or a Geneva Bible, or one of several other English Bibles quite older than the KJV.
The King James Translation we have now isn't even the original as stated in this video, it was revised in 1758, so that "perfect" translation they call it was considered flawed and revised because it was already nearly 150 years later using outdated words and phrases...if by 1758 it needed revised then in 2022 we still need more understandable Bible translations.

This whole controversy shook me for a while: how could I know that I was getting the true Word? Then I remembered that I’m saved, sealed, and held by God Himself. My Savior will not let me be led astray while I’m trusting Him and studying His word (I tend to wander back and forth between the KJV, NASB, and NIV) and seeking Him.
Yup. No worries. Any literal translation that has been translated from the earliest manuscripts can be trusted. I primarily study from the NASB,but my early life i was raised in a KJV only family. I went to NIV, and I do have some issues with the NIV, but not any to where I would say it is useless. I prefer the NASB, but I use an ESV daily for reading at work. And as soon as the new translation that Justin Peters has been talking about, as well as MacArthur, I'll be getting it for my primary study bible. The name slips my mind, but it rightly translates the Old Testament word LORD as YHWH. That really means a lot to me because thats how I read the Old Testament out loud to my family. I use the tetragammon in the place of LORD.

God is the only that can translate HIS Word into any tongue. It is a faith issue. You cannot use three books. You cannot use six. You can only use one book. If one book is perfect and pure, another book cannot be or the first one was not perfect and pure. SEE HOW EASY THIS IS TO UNDERSTAND?
God is not the author of confusion. Take a KJV and put it next to any or all other books in English that purports to be God's Word. They are all confusion except the KJV. I can prove that any book you use that is not an authorized King James is a satanic counterfeit. It is very easy to do.
If your native tongue is English, the only book you can use is an authorized King James Version. You cannot use a New King James Version. You can't use an ESV, NIV, DRA, CJB or ASV or any other book in English that purports to be God's Word because they just are not.

I just use a standard $2 public domain authorized King James Version as God has shown me it is sufficient for doctrine, for reproof, for correction.
When you use His Word, things change. You can now be taught the truth by the Holy Spirit with ease.

I am a missionary and have had people in U.S. churches ask what version we use. I tell them the language version we use and they ask what it was translated from.
The most common KJV edition read by most today is the 1769 Blayney Oxford edition.

Gail Riplinger uses acrostic algebra to calculate the word “sin” from a complex 5-step calculation to “prove” something about the KJV.

Deut 4:2, 12:32, Proverbs 30:5-6, Mt 5:18, & Rev 22:18-19, and any other similar or like passages apply ONLY to the original Hebrew, Aramaic, & Koine Greek.
The truth behind the facts: They NEVER apply to ANY translation including the KJ as none are perfect, inspired, or authoritative. Adding, changing, and the occasional word removal is an unavoidable, inevitable part of the translation process.
For example all italicized words the KJ translators ADDED just as in the Geneva thus as in the previous paragraphs.
This destroys the false “add, change, or remove God’s word” dogma in some circles.
But that was written in the first century in koine Greek

When I was a Bible College student I had an NASB/Ryrie Study Bible and an RSV; I am blessed by the Word of God through those translations as my verse memorization and prayers comes through them. The study part helped me enormously in College and out of it.

Though subjective, my testimony of KJV
I was a teen when I got Saved . Knew very little of Bible before then. God did use a 'Living Bible' 1975 to look up verses Luke 16, Rev 4, from Billy Graham telecast. Was led to a Baptist Church, Got a KJV and GOD Blessed my Soul by its Words. When I went to college, began reading NIV, felt it was hollow, No Glory to GOD in my Soul. Went back to KJV, and many fellow students from IVCF, including a reformed pastor ridiculed me for merely using a KJV.
Not judging those who uses otherwise, but the modern versions, did not edify my faith , at once I tasted the Word's of KJV
A wise pastor who believed like me, but maybe wasn't up on all the research said that since 1611 , that was the Philadelphia period of Church History , Modern Missions, which millions were saved and blessed. He wisely said, " Life Is too Short, Eternity Too Long" for me Not to use GOD's Best, which is the KJV.

@Timothy Babona In my own NLT, It's footnoted certain scriptures as "some manuscripts contain..." When I read outloud from it and the scripture is footnoted, guess what? I READ IT! My way of saying "Why did these dummies do this to a critical piece of scripture?"
As for "The Message," I use Bible Gateway" to access other translations, including KJV and NLT. I read Acts 4:12 and Revelation 13 in "The Message."
1. The authority in those scriptures feel like they were gutted out.

The nuances in Hebrew or Greek can be vital. So it does get to be a challenge to convey from one language to another. I have gotten pretty good in my Hebrew but am still working on the Greek.
I just ordered a new Bible, I had came out of the Charismatic Movement and had a Scofield study Bible KJV. I am no longer a dispensationalist or Arminian. I am learning so much it’s amazing so I’ve ordered a reformation study Bible.
Now to find a good reformed church in my area!!!!

I recently switched from NKJV, to KJV and i love it. It took a bit to get use to it, but i read my bible more now than i ever have. Also, no one should be attacking you for not using KJV only. But with that being said, there are a lot of watered down versions, so be careful. God Bless you Justin!❤
In what way are the translations "watered down" Alexandra? Do you think there is an agenda that seeks to weaken the scriptures? I'm of the opinion that it's the other way. The newer versions, I'm told, draw on more material. And the attitudes of those KJV translators would have been slanted by the church views at large. And the church views were only just appearing from a dark period.

For example, and please do your own research on this too, Acts 8:37 is in the KJV, but the other 3 versions have left it out. Now why would any version of the Bible want to leave out a verse that ends with 'I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God'? Please look up that verse, and compare it to different versions. At least with the ESV, the verses that are "left out" like the verse from Acts you quoted are included in a footnote with an explanation referring to the differences in early manuscripts. Same as how ESV notes Mark 16:9-20 varies in some early manuscripts.

These verses do not appear in the earlier texts which are much older than the texts which were used then the KJV was formulated. These older texts are more reliable because they are more closer to Christ’ actual time period. At some time along the way, these extra verses were added by someone. Do your research also. There were many, many more manuscripts available for translation when the newer Bibles were translations came about verses the King James. Blessings in Christ.

It's still sounds to me as though you believe there is some kind of conspiracy at work, which is the prime argument that is always put forth by KJV devotees. It is true the institutional churches are increasingly coming under heavy influence from the world to bow to its view of righteousness which goes against the Word of God.

I read the New American Standard Bible, and I have for many many years. I think the point is to get into a Bible. Any verified Bible can feed spiritual milk to any believer who trusts in Christ, humans will argue about just about anything. I highly doubt anyone went to hell for reading the “wrong bible”. We are saved by grace alone.

I was raised on King James. Much of what I can quote is still King James. I never thought of it as "only" because I was not aware of anything else. Through James White, I have learned a little bit about how our Scripture came to be. I have also discovered there is no perfect translation. So saying that I read the only Scripture that is perfect, the NASB, is not only incorrect but it is arrogant. Paul didn't speak in King James' English.

No he didn’t speak in King James English. He didn’t speak in ANY English so one type of English isn’t any better than another in that respect. However 1611 English was a much more precise version of English with a lot more words that added shades of meaning as well as differentiating singular and plural. Something todays English has lost. Thee, thou, thine, thy-singular. Ye, you, yours-plural.
There are good translations and bad translations to be sure. There are translations that are basically mistranslations because they change the meaning of the scriptures as delivered once and for all. However, the King James has been revised over time as you stated and English is a very fluid language which has changed significantly over time. I know many young people today who struggle mightily with the original language of Shakespeare in English and literature classes because of the heavy influence of Middle English is SO different from modern English. If you read the original Beowulf in its original form is virtually unintelligible to speakers of modern English. I prefer the American Standard myself because I think it is closest to the original meaning and translations but in modern English. There are however a large number of people even today that even pray in "King James English" with lots of "Thee's and Thou's" like that's somehow "more holy" or "more acceptable to God", when it really isn't anything more than unintentional showmanship at best and self-deception at worst.
As you said, it all comes down to being vigilant in DISCERNMENT and checking up on things. Plenty of people twist the KJV to mean things it doesn't mean by taking things out of context without the need of mistranslations.

If people are so stubborn on reading only one translation then they might as well learn Greek and Hebrew. I mean they put up such a fuss about preserving God's word so they might as well learn the original language the manuscripts were written in.

If I want to read an old translation, I turn to the Geneva Bible. The bottom line is that I can and do defend the tenets of the Christian faith from any literal translation, meaning KJV, NKJV, ASV, NASB, ESV, Interlinear. The Bibles to be skeptical of are paraphrases. These can be very confusing and just wrong in translating the original tongues. The KJV was one of the best English translations that could be made at the time it was written and it served it's purpose for many centuries. But modern readers of the English Bible should be aware that the original 1611 reading would prove almost impossible for modern people to read and understand. It was effective in it's time and used English that was understood at the time. Also, it needs to be said that the KJV has been modified numerous times in the time since it was originally published to keep up with the changing English language. In summary, I don't think the KJV is the best translation to use with a modern person simply because there is a need to translate some of the English words used into a modern vernacular. I don't see the purpose of adding this complication to the process of presenting the gospel.

The original manuscripts (autographs) are inspired. In the Hebrew (OT) and the Greek (NT) The KJV is a translation. A very good one, but still a translation. The message and essential gospel is very much consistent in the NKJ, NAS (1901) ESV. You are responsible to believe the gospel, as we are saved by faith. Don’t confuse the truth of God’s Word with minor variations in translating words from the Greek and Hebrew. Big mistake

I am not part of any KJVO group but I only use the KJB. It is a literary masterpiece, the most beautiful and accurate piece of literature this world has ever known. I had at one time , 22 translations but they all fell short. Even the thees and the thous of the KJB is 100 % accurate. All the "T" pronouns , Thee, Thine, Thy are singular and all the "Y "pronouns, Ye , you , your, are plural. I have never found another version that has ever improved on the KJB.

I also agree that the KJV cannot be improved upon. But I was willing to hear out this interview. Conclusion: I’m not quite convinced by the interviewer’s arguments but I will not criticize another true believer who uses a “sane” non-KJV version.
In John 3:16, the KJV says “only begotten Son” whereas other Bible versions say “one and only Son” or “only Son.” If Jesus is God’s only son, then how can you, or any of us be sons of God. The KJV gives a much clearer distinction of the meaning. Also the wording of KJV Matthew 25: 25b is not hard to understand. It means you have what is yours. The subtle and obvious mistranslations are having a devastatingly detrimental effect on the meaning of God’s word. This in turn will eventually make way for a new gospel, unfortunately.

NASB says “only begotten”. Note that “Son” is capitalized in the other versions which clues us into the one of a kind nature of Jesus’ relationship with God (compared to “sons of God”. I don’t think using “only begotten” or capitalizing “only Son” makes it super clear (who today naturally knows what “only begotten” means?) though, so further study is required in both cases.

I was brought up reading the KJV, and I still feel nothing matches the beauty of its language and accuracy. But I love my NKJV Christian Life Bible, and it's the one I use now. Through the wonders of the internet I actually use several different versions to augment my NKJV. The word of God is not a specific english translation
In the year 2011 I saw a copy / reprint of the 1611 KJV . I could read it but my friends and family couldn’t.
For example: the letter “f” used in type set for the “s” in actual use and sound of the word. I’m a history nut so I’m accustomed to reading this also in copies of hand written letters of the colonial period of the USA. Franklin, Jefferson, and Paine .
As for all of the THEES &. THOUS
it’s not that difficult to learn it.
People like that stuff in Harry Potter movies. There, the older the book the closer to original it’s considered.
But with Bible it’s often an excuse to not read it. With some , not all .
Final word.....? When people have it too easy they pick on one another. Let half the Earth 🌍 fall off and no one would be arguing over which translation you have.
My first Bible was a KJV. That's all pastors preached out of during the 80s when I was a little girl . Now my hubby and I have half a dozen translations. I enjoy reading out of different ones. I have read paraphrases like GW but prefer ones closer to word for word translation. I was all about NKJV for several years, but now I'm reading out of the ESV, NIV and NRSV. My favorite now is the NASB.

When I was earnestly seeking the Lord a friend gave me a KJV Bible and I was thankful for the Elizabethan English as it slowed my reading down as I sought to understand it. This caused me to ponder the meaning much more thoroughly than I would’ve if it had been in modern English. The bosses of the Christian business that I was working for at the time gave me a Ryrie NASB New Testament which I devoured after making my decision to become a follower of Jesus. Then I bought a compact KJV leather bound Bible which had a reference section in the back that gave the modern definition of words used in the KJV which had changed meaning and it proved quite useful. Then when the NKJV came out I ordered one for myself and my fiancé who became my wife. Although I have several other versions for reference my everyday reader is a NKJV. After 43 years I still prefer a Bible translation based on the Textus Receptus for the New Testament. In my opinion the best translation is one that gets read daily and I’m not dogmatic on what version that is, but I do find that some translations, and many paraphrase versions, seem to water down sound doctrine which is concerning.
Even though I am from an independent fundamental baptist church, but my pastor is not like those folks like Gail Riplinger and Peter Ruckman. I am not against the King James translation, but the movement Yes.
This is a fascinating discussion. I wonder if King James Onlyism is more of an American phenomena. Here in the U.K. I haven’t really been aware of the same level of support for the KJV.

I got sucked into the KJV only cult for a time as a young, twenty-something believer who hadn't been discipled as a new believer. They had me scared to death that I didn't have the "real" Word of God with my newer, more readable Bible. I don't recall what finally got me out of it, but I was happy to leave it behind.
What got me out of it was that people I trusted explained that some new versions were actually more faithful/conservative. This comment will NOT be persuasive to KJVO folks, though.

Now what does James 1:8 mean? A literal translation of the Greek expression that denotes having one's mind or soul divided between God and the world. The use of this expression in James 4:8 makes it CLEAR that it refers to an unbeliever.

Thumbs-downs don't actually _hurt_ a channel. In fact, they actually help the analytics because they show that people are interacting, which is what TH-cam likes to see. They don't really care HOW that happens, only that it DOES happen. I'll bet the people who regularly leave thumbs-down won't like to hear that. Since I discovered this, I rarely leave a thumbs-down anymore. If you dislike a video badly enough to leave a thumbs-down, it doesn't make a lot of sense to leave ANYTHING that will help promote the channel.
I'm still watching the video but the other commentor is right. Down voting a video is engagement as far as TH-cams algorithm is concerned, and all engagement is good engagement.
The down votes here on Justin's channel probably have more to do with people who don't like him for standing up to error within the church, which is actually pretty funny when you consider my last paragraph. Fred, thank you for doing this video. I am not KJVO, but might be called “TR preferred,” maybe. I read from the KJV and NKJV about 90% of the time, and from the CSB and NLT the other 10%. One of the things that hangs me up is John 8-the adulteress. If God’s word to us is inerrant, how did it pick up a false story that hitchhiked its way into the scriptures, becoming one of the very most famous passages about Jesus, and thus making the scriptures given to man “errant” for 1,000 years? I’m not trying to challenge you; I’m asking a genuine question that I struggle with.
How do we say that scripture is God breathed and inerrant one moment, and then turn around and say it was wrong for a 1,000 years, but we fixed it the next?
I don’t have as much of a struggle with the latter ending of Mark, as at worst, someone just paraphrased at the end-maybe something like a more “dynamic translation” of the day. 😊. However John 8, if it never happened and is untrue, would just be a fabricated made up story about Jesus that Christians believed was true for most of Christianity. How does one believe that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God, but also believe that we needed to take out the phony parts and correct it? I just can’t seem to come to terms with this.

I use several different versions, but I do shy away from Bibles that change the meaning of verses. I read the KJV, but study from NKJV, NASB and CSB, I think there is much to be gained by praying before we read or study any scripture and letting the creator of the word guide us.
I study and carry to church the KJV. I do read other versions and if you enjoy reading a particular translation than by all means do so but let the Holy Spirit and yourself test the word that you are using for your worship. Also don’t divide over translations with your fellow brothers in Christ. There are bigger issues to debate over.

I'm amazed at some of the arguments put forward. As a missionary who worked for 45 years in France and Belgium, was I supposed to use the KJV? The French versions are based on texts that were available to Calvin. The Wycliffe Bible Translators are seeking to reach out to people who don't have any version at all. God's word is intended to preached to the whole world, not just to the English-speaking one. God bless your ministry.

I grew up with the kjv and it was the only Bible I owned until about 4 months ago, I got a MacArthur study Bible which is a nasb.

I used to be a Kings James only Christian. But then, God blessed me and allowed me to go to Western Baptist College, now Corban University, in Salem, Oregon. My Bible professors there showed me how we actually get Bible translations. Through their teachings, God showed me that we have very reliable translations today, it's not King James only.
Since they do NOT say the same thing (therefore they cannot all be the truth), then according to your professors, which one is correct?

As a user of the KJV, NASB, and ESV I hope that never happens. As a missionaries kid growing up with my father leaving Australia to run around Fiji, the Marshall Islands, New Caledonia, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, etc for the cause of Bible translation, I have seen more damage done to the furtherance of the Great Commission by King James onlyist on the mission field than any other schism.

Mr Peters.. I was a young Christian about 35 years ago. I was growing sturdy and grounded in the Lord. I found out it is true if there is a whole in your armor or a weak spot in your psyche the devil will find it . Well who would have the my Bible which I held to every day to learn to live my life by would be the thing that was my weak spot. Sure enough fellow Christians started telling me the King James was not the full word of God, it was flawed , can't be trusted , must read other versions . I thought all versions were the same just had a different name except for the living bible which i was told was written in story book style so people could understand it better. It took about two years to wear me down but worn down i did get. I am said to say I did not read my Bible for years., It really did a number on me to my core.. I wanted the truth I thought the King James was as close to original as anyone could get. My trust in myself and I guess God to keep me in His truth was shattered. I finally started to pray about it saying God I know I can't go forever not reading your Word,, I need the fear of reading false scripture to be taken , help me to come to conclusion , to peace about it all and what to read. I went back to King James but also realize others are good to ,, so I compare when i read KJ, ESV, NASV. I am still not one to read a story type Bible. Although this was years ago now , this video was good for me to hear.

I was taught to use different versions (and a thesaurus) in Bible study, as doing so can really help our understanding. Having said that, I briefly held a KJV-only stance (for the same reasons he described). It didn't last long, because I came to understand the difference between formal and dynamic equivalencies. I do, however, shun paraphrases.

English is my 2nd language, but when I was saved it was through listening to preaching from KJV, and it was in an environment of KJV only. Had to study it quite a bit to understand it, as the language changed and so in the beginning when I was reading it, it seemed like it had contradictions, which I knew there couldn't be any, if it's God's word. While continuing to read my Bible I kind of started to drift away from KJV version only view, though still reading KJV, but starting to branch out and no longer thinking KJV was the only right one! Then later I started researching the philosophy behind different translations and their aims. I translate some tracts myself and look at passages from different versions and languages including the original ones and have had dilemmas in the past in how to translate certain ideas and how to do it between two very different cultures. Then I stumbled across textual criticism, Dan Wallace and Grant Jones among others, and it was immensely helpful to me to understand the processes behind translations and copying manuscripts, and to be able to articulate it to others too! Still read KJV for devotions, as I think the language is beautiful and it's a literary masterpiece, but when studying I use different versions (more on the "word for word" side), excited to add LSB to these! KJV only view seems to bring to mind the point about the reformation and how the Catholic church did not want for people to have God's word in a language they could understand.

As long as you believe that Jesus Christ was God and man and that he died for your sins. That he was raised from the dead . By grace through faith alone that you are saved... the theologies can be translated differently.. this is why I don’t spend too much time arguing about which English version of Greek and Hebrew are the most correct. As long as our teachers and preachers are explaining to us the history and cultures of the times and the language used for best English translation, then we’re all ok!

At 52:31, Mr. Peters refers to Matthew 25v25b where the KJV says "lo, there thou hast that is thine" and then he proceeds to say that most English speaking people wouldn't know what that means. I must confess, at first and completely out of context, I didn't realize what it meant. So, I opened up to that section and read the whole verse and saw that this is within the parable of the talents. When I saw the context of the verse before it and the complete verse, it was very easy to me to understand it when I saw the full sentence. The servant is saying to the master "here is the talent you gave me that is rightfully yours". For anyone who knows English, doesn't have a reading disability, is at a reasonable reading level, and would give a genuine effort to understand what is being said, I would wager they are very likely to understand it.
Normally I get a lot of encouragement and education from Mr. Peters' videos, but I'm overall disappointed in this one. This interview would have been a perfect opportunity to show the distinctive degrees of KJV-only-ism, what they mean and what's right and wrong about each of them, but instead this was an almost hour long strawman bashing session. Some people believe that the KJV is the one and only word of God even above the original autographs in the original language. I am not that person. Some people believe that the KJV is the only approved Bible in English. Again, I wouldn't go that far. However, there are sometimes some very different interpretations or even outright omissions of key verses among the modern translations. I would be EXTREMELY interested in Mr. Peters doing a video that goes through at least the major examples of these differences, why the differences are there, and what is an appropriate response to them. If there isn't anything to be leery of about modern versions, then that should be an easy slam dunk video to do whether in long format all at once or in short format across multiple videos. It really is a very important topic to cover considering how much of our faith in Jesus comes from the Bible (John 20v31).
Despite what these gentleman said, there is merit to the underlying argument that Christians should absolutely INSIST that any translation they are reading from should be as accurate as possible without any insertions or deletions or agenda crept in. Satan would love nothing more that to propagate a corrupted Bible because that would make his job much easier. At the end of Revelation, it is written that there is a grave warning against those who would dare mess with and try to alter the Word (Revelation 22v18-19). It's not a coincidence that this warning appears right at the end of the canon. Why else would that warning be there unless God knew in time there would be people that would attempt that very thing? A beware sign only makes sense if the threat it represents is real. This isn't something that can just be hand waived away because your favorite pastor or teacher says not to worry about it. If a translation is not faithful and not fully correct, it can lead to a full on cult. Just look at John 1v1 and compare the KJV to the NWT that the Jehovah's Witnesses cult uses. They deny the deity and Godhead membership of Jesus Christ by adding A SINGLE LETTER to the verse!
Lastly, I want to say that I am not of an opinion that either of these men are not Christians. I believe they are and I hope my comment is not taken to be an attack on either of them personally or professionally. If a modern translation could be done that was in modern English AND was faithful to the uncorrupted underlying texts, I'd be all for it. Until that shows up though (or maybe it already exists and I haven't seen it yet), when studying or leading my family, KJV is the first translation I will always go to. When reading the (A)KJV, at least I don't worry in the back of mind if I am reading something that has that been tampered with through negligence or nefariously been corrupted. If you, the person reading this comment, are comfortable with a Bible that has mistakes and you're not concerned about whether or not God can preserve His own Word, then this whole topic won't be of much interest to you, but please, at the very least do not be deceived into thinking that all Bibles basically say the same thing. THEY DON'T. If anyone is interested in examples, reply to my comment and I'll be happy to provide them.
I fully agree. They just grouped any KJV onlyist to one giant lump, took the most extreme or radical version of KJV onlyism, and then demonized the whole group through that lens.

Mr. Peters gave message about how "men's tradition cause God's word to become no effect" which changed my faith and life!
One thing thing that would be a real bummer for a KJV only position is if a person doesn't happen to speak English. For example there wasn't a Central African translation for the word snow. Until recent advances in refrigeration they'd never seen water in any form but liquid of gas. And there are actually many other such untranslatable, culturalisms.
I seen a video of Fighting for the Faith exposing the KJV only cult. And I am glad Chris Rosebrough did. I know a man who is King James only and every other is unacceptable to him as far as translating God's Word goes.

I think that Jesus would like us to be United in Spirit and in Truth. I think anyone who is not grounded in Jesus, never was a true believer. I just prefer the KJV,, it doesn’t bother me what others read or uses as long as Jesus is lifted up as the Only Way and Truth. If you tell a man that God is demanding no good works of him whatsoever, no religious observances or church ordinances, that God is not asking him to undertake any duties at all, but that God invites him to believe a glad message that his sins have already been dealt with at the Cross, and that God expects him to believe this good news and be exceedingly happy about it. If you tell an unsaved man such a story at this, he is astonished and overwhelmed-yet this is the Gospel!
I never could understand how having a conviction that the Bible is God's Word is problematic. I read in the Bible where it says, "whatsoever is not of faith is sin."
Some believe that we don't have God's Word, but we're getting there. Each new translation is moving closer to what God actually said through the prophets, Apostles, and Jesus Christ himself.
Others like myself believe that we have a infallible record of exactly what they said - therefore, we have the Word of God.
We're not waiting for unenlighted men to tell us what God said and recorded each revision of their translations.
We know what he said, because IT IS WRITTEN!

I left my KJV only church 4 years ago, but still held to my KJV only beliefs until about a month ago. I defended Ruckman, Riplinger, Gipp, etc. What finally did me in was the realization that you cannot actually know where manuscripts were written, so it was just silly to call them from the "Alexandrian cult" who nefariously forged thousands of bad copies.

I’ve read the ESV, NIV, NLT, and even the Message. No one ever discouraged me from reading those “modern translations.” However, the KJV is attacked frequently. God persevered His Word.

You, of course, are correct. AIl l needed to realize that all other translations have been demonically inspired was the alteration to KJV Revelation 5:9-10. Their evil attempt to remove the biblical truth that The Church is inside the throne room of God BEFORE the opening of the first seal and the onset of the tribulation. The first person pronouns of (us, us, we) have been changed to third person pronouns (them, them, they). Very subtle change, but dramatic for Christ Believers.

I wouldn't recommend any paraphrased translations (the Message, the Passion) but these men are not denouncing the KJV. They are simply saying that those who say the KJV is the ONLY true Word of God are wrong. I agree with them. I personally love the NKJV because it is easier to understand, for me, than the KJV. Please allow others to state their beliefs (these men are known to love God) without accusing them of attacking the KJV.

I found myself in a Facebook discussion with KJV onlyists on one occasion. My response to their arguments was that my wife, whose native language is Spanish, cannot read and understand KJV, so essentially, she can't possibly be saved or know the truth because she reads various Spanish translations of the scriptures.
@LAST DAYS If KJV is the only version able to save men, then God has no sovereign control over His word or the salvation of men. Watch the video, you might learn something.
You are also implying that a MAN translating text from Greek or Hebrew is more intelligent than God and able to twist God's words to the point that they are no longer effectual. If you read an entire block of text (several verses together) with three translations side by side, and then add the Greek or Hebrew translation, you will find that the concept God desires to communicate is found in each of them.

I learned scripture from the kjv bible for almost 10 years now, and I believe there's nothing wrong with other bibles. Also there is nothing wrong with the kjv, all bibles can bring someone to Christ. I wouldn't make fun of the kjv

The irony here is that the only reason one isn't KJVO is they are completely uneducated on Bible translations in the first place.
Spent 37 years in the prosperity gospel message and studied under the predominate leaders and was taught kjv only bible. After really getting saved and knowing Jesus, I found that some other translations were easy to understand, although may not be perfect in every word translated, but able to understand what I read so as to feed my faith. Currently using MacArthur study bible ESV and Reformation study bible ESV, but also a bunch of other study material to satisfy my longing for knowledge of God's Word. How could anyone today understand the gospel if it was only preached in KJV? Might as well speak Hebrew or Greek.
I thought only fundamental Baptists were King James only, so that's an interesting story. Never heard of charismatics being King James only.

The exact opposite happened to me....i was not a kjv only proponent until our new pastor started bringing calvinism into our church. We had previously been kjv preferred until this new pastor decided that the esv was a better translation, assuring us that no doctrine is changed in the newer versions. So i was okay with it, until our doctrine started changing to calvinism, which i reject outright. It was at this time that i started seriously comparing the versions, and have concluded that doctrine indeed has been changed in the newer versions.
I got my Legacy Bible, so far so good. It is used with my Reformation Study Bible and MacArthur study Bible. It is interesting comparing those to the NIV and Tyndale commentaries.

To the extent that the tense of a participle indicates time, it will indicate time only relative to the main verb. Present tense participles usually indicate action coincident with the time of the main verb.

Verb - Present Participle To save, heal, preserve, rescue. From a primary sos; to save, i.e. Deliver or protect.
It is more correctly translated, being saved as are saved is past participle. Ref Acts 2:47, different author, same use. Also, Catholics use the Latin Vulgate, the same used to back translate into Greek for the KJV.
Compare to Mark 16:16 σωθήσεται (sōthēsetai)
Verb - Future Indicative "will be saved."
Saved .vs being saved, scripture teaches you are saved, being saved, and will be saved. Depending on author and perspective the participle may change, but all with singular purpose and teaching.
1000s of scholars over the last 2000 years have spent lifetimes studying scripture, learning foreign languages, preserving ancient manuscripts, and dedicating themselves to spreading the gospel, in many languages, but there stands a group a people that is intent to shame their work for the Lord, cast hate and distrust on their life's mission to serve the Lord with the Spiritual gifts they have been given. 🤨

This has probably been posted here, but I haven't read all 1,421 comments, so I present this from the original Preface to the King James Bible 1611: THE TRANSLATORS TO THE READER AN ANSWER TO THE IMPUTATIONS OF OUR ADVERSARIES: "Now to the latter we answer; that we do not deny, nay we affirm and avow, that the very meanest translation of the Bible in English, set forth by men of our profession, (for we have seen none of theirs of the whole Bible as yet) containeth the word of God, nay, is the word of God. As the King's speech, which he uttereth in Parliament, being translated into French, Dutch, Italian, and Latin, is still the King's speech, though it be not interpreted by every Translator with the like grace, nor peradventure so fitly for phrase, nor so expressly for sense, everywhere".
Then there is the KJV only adherent's favorite cliche'; "If it was good enough for The Apostle Paul, it's good enough for me!"🤣🤣🤣

Because it's true.
This is because Satan is a deceiver. It is easy to see the vast difference in text between the kjv and modern versions when you start looking into yourself. How entire chapters are removed, how the deity of Jesus is remove and so on. But remember, Satan is the father of lies and the great deceiver, his agents exist very much in the church, too. How best to quash to revelation that newer bible translations have been corrupted, than to have a bitter "church" person scream at people that they are going to Hell, for simply touching a NASV. Please don't let these agents of Satan keep you from discovering the truth. Research how the texts are vastly different and the message twisted. Start with this first question, "what greater thing would Satan attempt to corrupt, than the Bible itself"? Didn't he twist the words of God to Eve? Didn't he twist the Words of God to Jesus, while tempting in the wilderness?
If you're not using a king James you're probably not saved and you're probably going to hell. Yup

@@wyldgoose There are many errors in the KJV. People think it came down from Heaven on a cloud. I use the KJV, NIV 1984 and NASB 1995. Anything newer is politically correct and corrupt. When I find the errors I just mark it. If anyone ever seen the original 1611 KJV they would be shocked. It is unreadable!! So it has been revised many times.

The one thing this video did for me was to reinforce my trust in the KJV. I didn't hear any evidence to convince me otherwise. No Scripture? James White? Seriously?
I find it very interesting that the only version of the Bible that is not copyrighted is the KJV. All other versions are owned by "someone" who gets a royalty
on ever one sold. Makes sense to me that nobody would own God's Word.
When I get invited to a church to preach, I would never consider using any other Bible in teaching than the KJV. I don't want to go in and offend 50% of the listeners
from the very beginning.

The KJV is under copyright in the United Kingdom. So it has been collecting royalties for over 400 years.

The early Church was not primarily in North Africa. While there were quite a few Christians in NA from the late 1st century and 2nd century on, there were also large numbers of Christians in Syria, the area now know as Turkey, Macedonia and Greece, and on the Italian peninsula.
The KJV-only crowd kills me. If they want to claim to adhere to the oldest English translation of God's Word, then I recommend they put away their KJVs and find a Tyndale Bible, or a Geneva Bible, or one of several other English Bibles quite older than the KJV.
The King James Translation we have now isn't even the original as stated in this video, it was revised in 1758, so that "perfect" translation they call it was considered flawed and revised because it was already nearly 150 years later using outdated words and phrases...if by 1758 it needed revised then in 2022 we still need more understandable Bible translations.
