- JUN 24, 2024: Feral mama cat Berkeley has been spayed, had dental surgery, and needs her incisions (spay and mouth) checked to make sure they are healing well. APR 21 2024: Feral mama-to-be Berkeley has eluded us for more than a year! We were FINALLY able to trap her using our remote-triggering robo-trap. She's pregnant, and will give birth for the last time in our care. Because she is feral, we will take a very specific approach to her pregnancy, labor, and raising her final litter of kittens in order to minimize her stress and maximize her + kittens well-being. Every time I have to give my non-feral cat insulin 2x/day and it's "difficult" I'll think of Shelly and Berk/Mora/Shiner/etc and feel intense gratitude for my "situation" :)
Grampaw Mason needed meds every day, and he wasn't entirely compliant.

I think Berkeley is actually quite calm and cooperative. I have seen scared cats who go totally insane and can’t be held down.

I’m sad that Berks couldn’t be swayed to stay with loving humans. She’s beautiful, and it’s sad to see her returned to the wild. But thank you all for taking such good care of her. ❤

Please don't let her go. Give her some more time. I had an outdoor feral cat for 14 years and it took me six months to win her trust and a year to pick her up, but she grew to trust me and allowed me to love on her. She was a real sweetheart, very sweet. I kept one of her kittens so she would have a companion. Interestingly it was her baby who grew up to scratch and bite on occasion but the feral never scratched or bit me. Please give her more time. ❤ Or at least keep.her in your yard.

Berkeley is going back to a managed feral colony, where her friends and family are. TK feeders will monitor her health and continue to socialize her at the feeding stations

I find it weird that people don’t know, you can take pictures with an iPhone, like an old instamatic camera. Put it in Camera mode and push the upper button on the left side. Can be done easily one handed.

I know you know what you're doing. I just thought I would share this. Please make sure that they have enough room to breathe in there. I lost my beloved cat this way when we were cutting his nails. (He was old, but still.) I did not realize it's actually not too easy to breathe in there. Thank you so much.

Nothing unexpected, she was spayed a few days ago.
she was spayed & some bad teeth removed. Is she in a better mood post-extraction? She is not! She still hates everybody human. She's a good Mama though.
Shelly looks different since she was away.
Even though people are amused by Shelly's comment about Eola having boundaries, I've seen a little of it. She was shy and stayed by her momma when a new person to her came into the room last week. It's definitely how she used to be when she was teeny tiny--underneath or right beside Berkeley, making it hard for Shelly to remove her from the Cos to weigh her. Lol. On the other hand, just like when THEY were teeny tiny, the boys don't care, haha.
I was so afraid this brave girl was going to need stitches herself. I hope Mama calms down and learns to trust. 🐾🥹
