What a run by Roger Black...good strategy he closed the gap but couldn't go over the top at the end. Watching this live , 12 year old boy. Memories! Greetings from Greece!
I went to school with anchor of the USA team Maybank in South Carolina. I actually raced him in summer school. He absolutely smoked me...LoL. Very proud of him!
@@chrisjames6327 Black had to make 5 metres just to be on terms with Maybank so that takes a lot out of you. If he had been right on his shoulder it would have been very interesting.
James Baulch blew it for GB. If he had kept his head and just tracked close behind, Roger black would have won the race in the anchor leg as he would have been 2 metres or so behind. As it was, Baulch handed a big margin to the USA. You think he would have watched the 1991 final to learn how to run a relay.
The best quality of this 4x400 final. Thank you for bringing it back!

Maybank was a quality athlete - you would have to be on his shoudler to beat him. He knew that Black was a threat as he was very happy afterwards.
I saw the front end of your comment and thought hed won 😂 Sadly it didnt pan out like that
That Jamaica runner kept his cool and rolled out of that fall. Glad to see they medaled.

Jamaica needs an award for best flip, fall and comeback.😆
My current summer track coach Lamont Smith was the 1st leg for the usa in this race!
Crazy how Jamaica fell and still got a medal.
The smoothest forward roll I've ever seen 😂😊
Why was Michael Johnson not running in this?
James Baulch went to early in that second leg and cost Britain that Gold medal.
Maybank was a 43 second runner. His PB was half a second faster than Black's. UK had no chance unless they had 10-15 metre lead on last leg
@@chrisjames6327 Utter nonsense. Black ran faster on the last leg than Maybank.

as Kriss Akabusi nickname him Roger "Pretty Boy" Black, a great servant of the British team, thanks Roger
Good efforts
Why wasn’t Michael Johnson on the team
ill at the time
I think that Michael Johnson was bagged after all of the 200 and 400 rounds.

Ah, the good old days....
baulch, everytime....didn't the coaches tell him to graduate his pace?...full plast to fade in every relay
9-11 5 yrs+out
Can Roger Black time it? Uh..no..
He had to make up about 6 -7 metres which is very hard and then have something extra to beat somebody like Maybank.
@@carolinehirst4921spot on. Maybank was a top athlete. Black and Maybank both split 43.87
