This reminds me of the day I upgraded from a Sound Blaster 16 to the AWE32. The music quality was not as refined as this, but it sure made every old Sierra and LucasArts game feel new again 🥹
For MiSTer use, it’s identical. But the PI-MIDI also has DIN MIDI and audio input/output, which means you can use it as a standalone MIDI synth for real retro machines too. I often hook it up to my DOS PC via gameport MIDI cables as a Roland MT-32 replacement I’ve got a few other videos on this if you’re interested Hope this helps!
Thanks! I got this from @EduArana. He has a newer version of the PI-MIDI listed on his store page here: www.arananet.net/pedidos/product/pi-midi-1-3-a-baremetal-mt32-emulator-using-raspberry-pi-preorder
It's so cool how DOS games were capable of excellent MIDI music with the right hardware, even if it could cost about as much as the computer in question 🤣
Thank you for the awesome video
Glad you liked it! 😎

Nice. How does this compare to the MT32-pi hat?

I see. I'm actually using your serial connection method with M32pi for my DOS machine so this solution would be even better!
Great device. Where did you buy it?
