This is awesome. I plan on doing something similar for my computer science senior project this semester. I already had my project proposal accepted by the chair of the department (an AI assistant running a local LLM on a raspberry pi). I just need it to run basic "Alexa" commands, however, after watching several videos on this subject, I know that I will get very slow responses since the Pi cant run the LLM that well as opposed to a GPU. lets say I build my own local AI assistant. Can I simply run this tutorial ^ in order to integrate the rx 580? Or can I integrate the rx 580 from the get go? Any guidance would be helpful. Thank you.

I'm not sure this demo is actually using the 3Dfx card. It is an analog pass through accelerator card. You are not passing any analog signal into the 3dfx card input for it to accelerate. You are likely (somehow) using your existing graphics with a Glide conversion...

Why do I want try Horizon Zero Dawn/ Horizon Forbidden West on this „overkill“ setup 😅 I am currently playing Forbidden West on my Ryzen 7 5700X / RX 7800 XT system running Arch Linux… I guess it will be funny how the PI with an 6600/XT will run Zero Dawn (if it will run it…)

Today as opposed to back then my PC has SSD's, 6x the # of processors each 2.5x as fast, 32x the amount of RAM, 24x the amount of VRAM And todays games STILL barely look any better than this. What use devs have been making of the past 20 YEARS(!), I wonder; but actual development, it was not.

Using Box64 you could even get some newer games on the Pi. I saw someone using a similar GPU to get Witcher 3 running on a RISCV SoC!

Where can I buy this device? I have an MT32PI to use on my MiSTer FPGA but I want to use it on my real DOS machine!

The cooler orientation made it pull air instead of pushing it. Normally the fan label should be facing down.

Does this only work with AMD GPUs? Or could this also work with Nvidia?

Hey again! I just reflashed pi os plugged the gpu in and lspci it can see it …I also installed neofetch and ran it and it’s showing up…. What does this mean because I didn’t run the whole process again since I refreshed and it’s picking it up it didn’t pick it up on unbuntu when I had that running, but I decided to reflash a new pi os and it’s picking it up so I don’t know if that means it’s running or if it just recognizes it

Pretty sure I have one of these still sitting in an old parts bin some place around here. I got mine for free. A friend of mine had one and I mentioned something about them one day and he handed me one and said keep it. I never did find a way to put it to use. I would need a bunch of other old stuff I don't want to hunt down.

Aaaaahhhhhhhhhh I DID IT!!!!!!! My raspberry pie is going through the graphics card onto the TV. It’s working. I finally got it working.

Great comparison and it's the reason I wanted to get a MiSTer, I had heard about a new FPGA device called the "SuperStation" which is essentially a MiSTer but has a PS1 themed case and also PS1 ports (Memory card and controller) and on top of all that, is cheaper and easier to set up than a MiSTer, only issue I have with it is that there is barely any information regarding it online but everything looks positive, I was just wondering if anybody is reading this and you happen to own a SuperStation, is the PS1 core more accurate than a MiSTer (Are there any changes to the hardware that improve the PS1 core?) and how accurate overall would you say it is compared to a original PS1.

VIRUS DONT INSTALL

I have one of these setup with a Q6600 (PICMG 1.3 pcie i think?) in about one of the most old looking 386 minitower cases I could find. It made a half decent sleeper pc of sorts. Though I have not found anything more modern to put in this thing.

I had troubles with BSOD 0x0000007B when using the vanilla Windows XP ISO. Someone on Reddit recommended replacing the NTDETECT with a one from "Windows XP Integral Edition" which did not work for me. But replacing the whole ISO did work. So I followed all the steps from the video but was using the modified ISO.

The only issue with runnng a voodoo card is that you still need another 2d accelerator card. So another ISA slot.
