I live in Manchester UK. I went to see Black Sabbath in 72 (could have been 73) and these guys were the support band. Nobody over here had heard of them. They absolutely took the place by storm, never seen a support band rip the place up like they did, No fear whatsoever. Total showmanship. I thought Jesus, how are Sabbath going to follow that. They did, and they were epic, but they really had to raise their game. Probably one of the most energy charged gigs I ever went to. Total respect to Black Oak Arkansas.

A young Tommy Aldridge on the drums... he would go on to play with Pat Travers Band, Ozzy Osbourne, Gary Moore, Whitesnake, Ted Nugent, Thin Lizzy, Vinnie Moore and Yngwie Malmsteen. A living legend behind the skins...

@@guyleffel667 - my first band opened for Greystarr in the late 70s at an outdoor fest in Wisconsin (our drummer's dad owned & leased the outdoor generators). She never gave less than a 100% performance. Had seen them numerous times. Her death, from brain cancer I think, was premature and saddening. I did meet her daughter once...just as gorgeous as her mum.

Every generation thinks their generation was the best and I'm no different. I was 12 when this was recorded and I still love how raw, yet pure, rock and roll was in the early 70s. It wasn't long after when the glam rock / hair bands took over. Not that they were all bad, David Bowie comes to mind but the early 70's had great bands that just played straight forward, raw, heart felt rock and roll like BOA. Love it still to this day!

The "Silent movie rescue" was filmed at the rear of the stage which had railway tracks so the stage could be moved and swapped with another already set up with the following act. Likely it was a last minute idea taking advantage of the setup.

    Dear lord.
This is a sad reminder of good times that may never return .
Old fashioned hot blooded southern rock monsters.
The band is the finest southern rock outfit ever assembled and at one point tommy Aldridge played drums.
If having Tommy on drums did not scare the competition , and it did,,this front man did more than that it frightened the devil himself as no man ever rocked like Jim Dandy.
Not to mention Ruby Starr that remains a rock hero to many in many ways as she was and will always be a legend.
The band new what friendship means and the music BOA created together is biblical .
Some humans are aware the band had abilities beyond music as the lyrics hint at this .in many masterpieces .
“ our eyes ere on you our ears can hear you so watch every word “”
    Yes indeed they do.

A couple years after this concert, I lived in small town AZ. I was in the market and in the music section was a weird cassette of Black Oak Arkansas, titled "Ma". I played it quite a bit, but it took second place to Frampton Comes Alive. Many years later, thinking about the poor quality of the B.O.A. cassette, I decided it must have been a bootleg.

It was a great concert but the shows going on in the crowd were even more entertaining! This poor black dude was stumbling around 3 sheets to the wind totally bare assed bumpin into people who were sitting down getting his junk all over them , well, he bumped into this biker with his friends and it was lights out for him i never saw a more vicious punch in my life , they picked him up ,put him in a trash can and threw him in a dumpster ! crazy ! At the end of the concert people were throwing water jugs, bottles ,cans whatever into the air surprised there wasnt more injuies than what i did see. GOOD MEMORIES !
