I was just in St. George a few days ago, visiting from Hawaii. It’s now my goal to move there. The parks and the trails are incredible. Great place to retire, or raise a kid. Very clean. Some of the neighborhoods even remind me of living in Waikoloa with the palm trees lining the streets. Can’t wait to come back.
Kind of down played the summer heat. My wife and I were looking forward to moving to St. George. Just came back from a trip down there to check out the heat. It was terrible. Over 105 every day. There is no way we could live there with that kind of heat. Guess we'll be looking for someplace cooler.
I stopped at St G on my way back to CALIFORNIA, I took a short hike at a red rock area, when done, I lifted the hood of my car, soon local folks came and asked if I needed help, I said I'm good, just checking, my car was running on 5 out of 6 cylinders I told them, I made it home that way. They ,mom dad and their young kid were so surprised . I was impressed with their genuine demeanor, they glowed like saints, I wish they were in my circle of friends and I was sorry to leave and never see them again...so many beautiful people out there still in this world...this was 2 yrs ago...I wouldnt mind living there...
I really enjoyed this information. I would certainly welcome 2 months of 105 degrees and beautiful views and scenery, versus all the traffic, crime and 5 months of snow in other areas states. Thank you kindly for an outstanding explanation of your area.
@@stgeorge Not for long! Most of them will change the demographics and make your city just as bad as the many cities in occupied Kalifornistan. I should know.... I was one of them born and raise in California.
@@makailanai6283 , exactly and it's sad. I have family and friends in Utah and I especially like St. George because of the climate. There are some of the most incredible scenic areas found anywhere in the country in Utah. I've spent many seasons vacationing in Utah with my Jeep. Now that I'm retired I considered retiring in Utah but it's people like YFZMoto that make me feel very unwanted simply because I happen to be from California.
for those in pre-retirement or those who will split their retirement between two places, what do homeowners do? are there any innovations on that front? By this I mean, leaving house safely unattended? State for tax residency? Thanks. A couple other questions. With clients looking at the retirement in St. George, which communities are most often mentioned as the competitors? Are there special perks/attractive selling points to retire in St. George or Utah vs. say Idaho or another state? By this I mean tax breaks, subsidized health care, discounted passes to parks, etc. Finally, as non-LDS and as a prospective retiree, what do people do to coexist better vs. those that have trouble and end up loving away? Thanks.
Just remember that here in Saint George, we are quite conservative. So please don't try to change us. You are leaving cause the place you left through it's polices destroyed it.. dont do that here.
Hi we just across your video and I have a couple of questions. We're planning to move once our daughter is out of high school or if she may wants to move with us. We don't plan to move back to the mid west and we plan to leave our current place in the very near future. I'm retired military and my wife would like to retire if possible sooner ten later if the opportunity is there. Are there any properties that the neighbors aren't close mean you have wiggle room from houses of .25 acres to an acre itself. I'd like to have a big backyard especially for my dogs to run in the backyard.
Sorry but the state income tax and high cost of living is why I will NOT move there. Mesquite is most likely where I might move. No income tax and cost of living is lower than St. George.
@Susan Jones --Mesquite, Nevada is just south of St. George, and is in Clark County/Las Vegas Nevada. So an hour drive south gets you to the Las Vegas Strip if that is important to you. I live and work (teacher) here in Las Vegas for 16 years, coming from Northern Nevada near Ely where the climate is opposite that of Las Vegas. The SUMMER HEAT is one of the most challenging negatives of the region in my opinion. The cooler weather is not so bad, comparatively, but the summer heat is like living in hell and your power bills, damage to vehicles and any outdoor structures is expensive to deal with. You lose a lot of value there, and also it does affect your health as you age. For what it is worth. Mesquite, Nevada, gets as hot as Las Vegas in the summers.
THE REALITY is, so many towns in America have no soul and they can clearly be recognized by the primitive urban planning, poor architecture, dilapidated downtown retail spaces, rows of insignificant businesses and the abundance of soul sucking strip malls, mini marts and their box store cousins with their oversized parking lots that are spread all over the main throughway. Towns are places of ambience where people congregate to relax, to entertain, exchange ideas, sell or buy. The public space like town squares and parks are the stages and catalyst for these activities. isit one of the many charming European towns
If you want that government money ( Social security checks) you can’t be picky about who you get. St. George is looking to collect socialist program money.

I was in St George for work last year. I've been all over the country and this was easily the most beautiful place I've ever been. Simply amazing.

Like Sing Sud, we would like to retire to Desert Color. I can't find anything about the status of the active adult community. Has it been built yet?
Yes, Desert Color has been & is still being built. Gorgeous homes out there.

Do you have a link of available jobs?
What is the rattlesnake and scorpion situation like in St George? Thank you.
