Yummy looks easy and tasty, looking forward to making it for my family. beautiful kids and taste tester. Have a great Holiday Season. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you. We love this pie because it’s so simple and not too sweet. I personally enjoy a slice for breakfast because who doesn’t like dessert for breakfast 😉
Thank you for those kind words. I do most of the cooking and actually enjoy it when I have the time. Appreciate you watching and we’re glad to have you.
We really enjoyed it. We’ve made it twice since making this video because my daughter liked it a lot. We hope you enjoy it and thank you for spending time with us.
It’s super easy and delicious. I bet I’ve made it 5-7 times since making that video. I tried adding caramel chips one time, thinking it would be like a caramel apple. It wasn’t bad, but I liked the original version better. Thanks for watching.
Thank you for taking the time to let us know what you were doing in the recipe. I'm not a big baker, but like to try. My Dad was a constant Baker but never let us in the Kitchen to learn, so I rely on Bakers like you. You have beautiful children. New Subscriber.
Just googled what Can i do with Applesauce? Which i love but wanted a bit “more”, ya know? Happy i found your video. Will be making this right now. Wish me luck and many blessings to you and your family!
Welcome and thanks for watching. I hope you like it as much as we do. It’s become a great pie for our family and we make it often. I’d love to hear your feedback wether positive or negative. Thanks
@@RockyCreekHomestead We Now have a new favorite pie in our home thanks to your wonderful video. I added a few extra spices as well and they gobbled them right up! 😉 Thanks again for sharing. Stay blessed.
I made the Friends Recipe plus the two eggs from your recipe and a splash of bottled lemon juice and 1/4 tsp cardamon. Amazing! I guess it’s good for my weight that I didn’t know about this sooner. Great taste without the peeling and slicing. Thank you!
We love it. I make it about once a month now. It’s not overly sweet and I especially enjoy a slice in the morning. I mean who doesn’t like pie for breakfast. Thanks for watching and appreciate you spending time with us.
i have never heard of it! it is so much easier for me to make apple sauce, now i can make my husband a apple pie without all the slicing! thank you for sharing and for the wonderful taste testing!
That looks good, like a custard pie. My mom made applesauce pies when I was a child. She just used applesauce, spots of butter, a little flour and allspice between two crusts. By the way, you don’t need to prick your pie crust on the bottom when you fill the crust before you bake it. When you bake an empty pie shell, that’s when it gets pricked so it won’t bubble up.
I want to but haven’t had much success. We’ve planted 3 apple, 2 pear and 2 peach trees as soon as we moved in 3 years ago. 2 trees died and the others have struggled. The deer constantly get to them.
Amazing video, mate! In longer videos on YT (10+ mins), I would normally skip straight to the recipe, but I watched and listened to every minute of your video. Thanks for sharing this recipe and welcoming us into your home (virtually).
I prefer my apple sauce chunky and I think it works well with this pie. I hope you enjoy it if you try it. It’s a fall / winter favorite in our home now.
I had several cans of apple sauce I got from a friend. Don’t really eat apple sauce so I searched for a recipe that uses it. Didn’t really want muffins and then I found yours. Perfect! I have a couple of store bought crusts in a pan. I’m wondering if I can use brown sugar because that’s what I have. Thanks.
New subscriber here, thank you for the delicious recipe. I made this pie and it is outstanding one question though how should leftovers be stored? Thanks, Mary
Hi, ur pie looks delicious. Can u please compare the recipes. Yours "sets" well. I was wondering about friends..2 cups of sauce with no eggs seems like it might not "set" and cut into slices.. (though mayb the cornstarch does that). Also how do u like it with brown sugar as opposed to white sugar? Thanks for ur time
I honestly liked the first recipe so much, I never actually tried the other recipe yet. I’ve made the one I show in the video probably 6 or so times since. I really need to make the other version so I truly can compare them. I’ve seen pictures of my friends pie on social media and it looks pretty good, maybe just not as brown. I’d think like you were, the corn starch would be the thickening agent. I’m sorry I am not able to answer your question, I’m just trying to be honest. The family liked the first pie so much so I haven’t wanted to change it up.
Oh man I’m glad you brought that up. I’ll do an update video on that real soon. My brain gets super scattered and I have hard time staying on track at times 🤪. I definitely saw some pros and cons on the feed. I’m still using it but it will hopefully make sense when I do the video. I
@@RockyCreekHomestead Sweet I'm curious because the feed store I shop at has been out of layer pellet's twice now I had to go to the other side of town to get some, that might not sound like far but its about 30 min away and the feed store I use is 5 min away. If I can make my own. I think they have it all. The first time they were out I gave them finisher, It made the eggs taste strong
I wonder if this was one of those depression era baked goods when there were shortages. I have seen some really weird sounding recipes from then that were rather good.
That very well could be possible being it’s inexpensive and easy. However it came about I’m glad because it’s one of our favorites now. Thanks for watching and peeking my interest into figuring out the origin.
Made this and I keep asking myself why apple pie is always made with whole apples …it just makes sense for a even bite to do the sauce or maybe a blended apple filling so it’s like yam pie maybe ppl prefer that squishy slightly crunchy apple but I’d rather not have that ina a pie ….I made it with a crumble top and Carmel drizzle …feel like it need egg tho want that middle even firmer …it’s firm without it tho
Thanks for sharing your experience. A caramel drizzle sounds great. I tried adding caramel chips one time but felt like the taste didn’t come through enough. Drizzle may have been the way to go. It’s an easy recipe to modify and play with.
I made this pie, and it was a huge flop! Tasted good but it never set up? Then I went back and watched the vid again and realized what I did wrong.. I took it out of the oven at the 45min mark, which means it didn’t bake long enough, I went back and watched the end of vid and you let it bake longer lol oops! Wish I would’ve watched the last 5mins of vid and mine would’ve been a show stopper like yours but I guess I was too impatient lol 😂
Oh man I’m sorry it didn’t work out for you. I’ve made it several times since this video and each time the bake time does vary slightly. I think the consistency of the apple sauce used may cause some variance.
Yummy looks easy and tasty, looking forward to making it for my family. beautiful kids and taste tester. Have a great Holiday Season. Thanks for sharing.
The pie looks great, but you look like even better daddy. Blessings to your family during the holidays.

I would assume brown sugar could be used but I’d suspect the flavor would be slightly different and potentially a thicker finished product.
